The Wedding Singer

Comments

I first watched this one in my 30s when it came out we were already nostalgic for the 80s! We had MTV and VH1 releasing shows for each year called I love the 80s and of course TV commercials for CDs of selected music from the decade played so much that those of us that are from the era can still quote them. This movie fit right in with that early nostalgia and it was so on point. At the time, I remember Billy Idol looking so old compared to what I was used to. Now I think he looks great! This movie was an instant resubscribe to Patreon!

The Actress who plays Rosie played Christopher Walken's mother in Wedding Crashers.

Have they not done Love Actually yet?

jmundt33a

Love Actually has a classic airport chase scene. It’s a great movie as well.

Gabriel Garza

Wedding Singer might be my favourite Adam Sandler movie. It has just the right amount of Sandler humour without going overboard, and it's also got a lot of heart, not to mention a killer 80s soundtrack.

Watch Spanglish - Adam Sandler's one of the leads, but it's not an Adam Sandler movie. And he's much more subdued, as George described it, really enjoyable. And it's a really good movie.

nate coleman

I hope we get a Grandma's Boy reaction one day. It could happen.

Justin Bulkley

Saw blended a couple years ago went in with very low expectations and I thought it was actually pretty good. I would say it’s worth a watch.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the perfect breakup movie

Brian K.

The old lady is the same old lady who was in Wedding Crashers. The one saying highly inappropriate things at the dinner table.

Dag Einar Bergli

I haven't seen Uncut Gems but there was a lot of Oscar buzz for him with that one. And I *have* seen Hustle, and it's one of the best basketball movies I've ever seen, and he's terrific in it. Adam can be really, really good when he actually tries (but I also don't begrudge him deciding to make a bunch of dumb shit that earns his friends trips to places like Africa and Hawaii).

Jeff K

If you want a non-silly Adam Sandler film, try Punch-drunk Love.

Lex Kuzma

I haven't watched this in years! One of the best things about your reaction channel is seeing a movie through another person/persons eyes and reminding me how good a movie is!

Uncut Gems next!

Let us make Simone happy and produce Happy Gilmore Girls. ... Fine, I'll let myself out.

Happy Hanukkah

I grew up on happy Gilmore, but happy Gilmore 2 is just a lot of clips of the original and a lot of obscure cameos

Matt88g

In which Simone lets us know she's taken up weightlifting. 3:21 The stumble is not that impressive. Remember, this is 1985. His character has repeatedly watched David Byrne! :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i653lJCPnzA&t=309s 27:55 "I need Billy Idol to sing at their wedding." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAZQaYKZMTI The non-somber note you can append to the last trivia is that Sandler tends to be faithful (to a fault) to his friends and tries to cast them in his movies.

Happy Hanukkah

Fun, yes. Good? Your mileage may vary.

jmundt33a

They already did 50.

jmundt33a

For other "less-zany" Sandler Flicks (all great): Punch-Drunk Love, 50 First Dates (reunited with Barrymore), Big Daddy. And of course his best film: Uncut Gems (extremely different tone to his other films!)

Kevin

Great reaction to Wedding singer. And yes Blended is well worth watching! Another good Sandler movie is Just go with it

rick movienerd

The cliche I've always seen is the bride backing out on the wedding day. I just looked it up and there's about the same amount of movies covering both scenarios. So, I'd say the cliche is just somebody being left at the alter, whether it's the groom or bride.

Jordan Hume

They were cones!

Jon Burrows

Love this one

Bookwormy

The movie "Blended" surprised me with how good it is, and cemented Drew and Adam as one of the greatest movie couples in history. It's their third movie together and their chemistry is fucking amazing. You really should check it out if you like them as a couple.

Rayna & Mike Sitter

omg with that autotranslation LOL

I've probably left this comment on another Adam Sandler film of yours since I always say something similar, but I consider this the start of his "trying" phase. A string of movies in the late-'90s and early-'00s where he turns down the volume, puts more work into the script, and overall makes an effort to be more sincere. These films aren't all hits -- and they're not necessarily better than his earlier films -- but they're the ones where he's TRYING. And that always makes me enjoy them a little bit more when you can see that he's not just coasting on shouting and alcohol.

JBK405

Great reaction as always! Very interested to know your thoughts on the Sand Man in Punch Drunk Love. Fingers crossed for a reaction one day

Chris Kenney

This movie came out in 98 and is set in 85. Felt nostalgic back then. But it’s only 13yrs. 13 years ago now is 2012! Not at all nostalgic.

Tomas

β€œBen Stiller’s wife?” Not a Dodgeball mention?

jmundt33a

Vinnie Barbarino was John Travolta’s breakout role on the β€˜70s sitcom Welcome Back Kotter.

Jeff K

That thumbnail...Jesus! Both hilarious and terrifying

Trevor S Bright

Sandler’s best. No contest.

jmundt33a

Love this film! May of been the first Adam sandler film I saw as a kid
