Diana Rigg is best known for her role as Emma Peel in "The Avengers" -- not your "Avengers," kiddies, but a '60s British spy-adventure TV series. Ms. Rigg was a, _ahem,_ formative influence for many of us Boomer males, and probably some females as well. You might want to check it out sometimes. And I second the idea of your watching "The Prisoner" sometime. It's a very unusual series.

Your Easter Egg was a punch in the gut, but in a good way.

"We Have All the Time In the World" by Louis Armstrong is in fact the main theme for this film and was specifically composed for it in 1969. So there is indeed a song with vocals, as usual. It's just not used for the opening this time. This movie is definitely more grounded than the previous films. They dropped the gadgets, and Lazenby's Bond is visibly more vigorous with much more tumbling and wrestling. His punches have so much more oomph than Connery's. However, this is probably my least favorite Blofeld due to his less stoic demeanor.

I love this movie. The John Barry instrumental theme is great, even if the opening credits sequence is lackluster. The emphasis on French horns throughout the score fits with the alpine locale. There's even some early synth that shows up at times. Louis Armstrong's "We Have All the Time in the World" sets the perfect mood for a love montage, then a tragic note at the end when Bond is holding Tracy as a slow instrumental of it plays under his conversation with the policeman. The Aston Martin in this one is my favorite year model ever. It has a little American muscle-car influence, but keeps the European styling. If I could ever own a movie car, it would be the 1969 Aston Martin DBS. (or the 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT from Mad Max, but that's for another thread). George and Simone, now that you've watched this, go back and watch the very end of No Time to Die (the scene with Madeline and Mathilde in the car right before the credits roll), and you'll notice a lovely Easter egg that made the ending of that movie so much more poignant for longtime Bond fans. At the beginning, Bond is driving a 1968 Aston Martin DBS Vantage, the same car that will be used as the wedding car and in which Tracy is killed. The fights are definitely more visceral and Lazenby is a brutal Bond. I think this opening title sequence is the *worst* of all the Bond movies. It’s just footage from the previous movies which only serves to remind everyone of Connery as Bond and looks backward when they are trying out a NEW actor in the role and should be showing him. The silhouetted women (there are only 2 of them and they are mirrored) barely move and it all looks VERY cheap and uninspired. It looks the the opening sequence of a low budget TV show and not something belonging to a then-well established film series l’m shocked that this work is by Maurice Binder as he has done and will do much better work in past and future Bond movies. Bond’s ruffled shirt is unfortunate. Devices to spin the safe dial to check all possible combinations do exist. Here is a video by "The Lockpicking Lawyer" demonstrating one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDgC8JOQhiM Bond is reading the February 1969 issue of Playboy which is a little strange as the movie is supposedly set around Christmas and magazines typically come out about a month early. Of course, some of Ian Fleming’s Bond stories appeared in Playboy. Simone, I have a brass bell! It’s about 12 inches across and 14 high and is in my back yard, mounted on a post, but the clapper is partially frozen, so I need to fix that to ring the bell. It was here when I moved in. A few of the neighbors also have similar bells. Lazenby is dubbed by actor George Baker (who played the “real” Sir Hillary in the movie) nearly the whole time Lazenby is using the “Sir Hillary” persona and it’s very distracting. It appears that the Lazenby and Ilse Steppat (Irma Bunt) are in the helicopter as it is flying around, which is nice. It does look to be a rear screen projection for any part of that sequence as was usually typical for in-aircraft shots. It’s always funny to watch Bond check out his hotel rooms in the lake in these movies. He often spends a great deal of time examining them. Inside Blofeld’s Piz Gloria research facility Bond’s outfit is very silly-looking. I know kilts are important part of Scottish culture, but it just looks so ridiculous in this context, in the Bernese and Valais Alps, no less. His whole outfit is just distractingly goofy-looking. Are there any famous genealogists? This movie really does have interminable amounts of time standing around where nothing is happening. Another movie with an excellent cable car sequence is “Where Eagles Dare” (1968) with Clint Eastwood. The spikes on the wall are just artwork. But of course, they come into better use later. The only thing that spoils the ski chase is the day for night stuff. It just looks so dim. It should’ve been a daytime chase When Diana Rigg shows up on the skates, she looks absolutely stunning in that bown/tan outfit. Tracy drives a red 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 428 Cobra Jet Convertible I like the little Austin Mini Coopers in that stock car race. “Say it with flowers” that the people in the car shout to Bond and Tracy as they pass them was from commercials. Lastly, anyone wanting to make reservations for Piz Gloria or to see a live cam can go here: https://schilthorn.ch/12/en/Piz_Gloria (restaurant website) Though at the moment, it’s pretty dark out there! Great reaction and I'm happy you guys liked the movie so much! It's not one I watch often, but I do enjoy it.

There will, of course, be a few nods to Tracy later...

You know, but a reminder that Craig is a standalone arc, a single arc. All the earlier films were just a continuation. Note that if Lazenby had returned, they could have used that final scene as the start of the next film. But before production even finished, Lazenby was publicly leaving the role. So there was no way to continue it as is. I can only say you will have to enjoy the "fun" aspects of Doamonds Are Forever. If you want a continuation, you might not like the results. I actually love Diamonds as campy fun, but it has to be accepted that Tracy's story is not going to be dealt with the same way again.

My favorite Bond film from the 60's and the one I think holds up the best from that era.

This Place is a Sausage fest

The first Bond spoof came out two years before OHMSS, Casino Royale (1967) made quite the splash. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061452/ Also once you get to the Roger Moore years, there was no need to spoof Bond. With a few exceptions they mostly take care of it themselves.
