In Nassau there is an underwater area called the Bond wrecks. I did a hotel scuba orientation and for the dive we went to that area. Saw a car on the bottom but was told the airplane for Thunderball was too deep.

So much music in this movie sounds like Harry Potter! In chamber is secrets there's some music while the kids are creeping around, and it sounds just like the music when Bond is scuba diving when he finds the camouflaged plane...

George & Simone, re: shooting sharks - this must have been before the "no animals were harmed in the making of this movie" was a thing.

I’d recommend watching the 1980s remake Never Say Never Again

This is the 2nd most profitable Bond movie of all time after I believe Skyfall. This is my favorite Bond movie. I'm in my late 60's and this is my favorite Bond movie definitely, and I saw this as a 9 or 10 year old in the movies and it was the greatest thing I ever saw, and no other Bond's come close. Goldfinger is my 2nd best of every Bond movie including the most recent ones. It's difficult I think to impress on young people like yourselves in 2025 how big James Bond was in the 1960's. The Bond, movies set off a giant craze for Secret Agents including a hit song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iaR3WO71j4 ; TV series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQyJnAs7BlU; Mission Impossible, The original Mission: Impossible television series, which premiered in 1966, was inspired by the James Bond films, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPTCOL, even comedies like Get Smart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2ObCoCm61s and, I Spy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXds_DAEiZA; even series lie the Wild, Wild West, his show was conceived by its creator, Michael Garrison, as "James Bond on horseback., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuCuf5tvTqE; and others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7HCjZg8R7M and kids toys https://toytales.ca/secret-sam-attache-case-from-topper-toys-1965/; bLWxM and kids everywhere in American boys and yes girls two played secret agent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eRpfa04I9c

Is you’re interested in watching a spy thriller that is explicitly an anti-Bond (meaning it reflects the reality of actual espionage and was conceived as a contrast to Bond) try “The Spy Who Came In From the Cold” (1965). It’s based on the novel by John LeCarre who actually worked for the British intelligence service. The film “Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy” (2011) is also based on a LaCarre novel.

Nicholas Bielik

Uh, there are much sexier 1960s movies hahah.

REDR58

They did dub over the sound it made, though. They thought it didn't sound 'jetpack-y' enough, so they used the exhaust from a fire extinguisher for the audio.

JBK405

By the way, the jet pack in the beginning was real

I'm not gonna lie, one of the most recent times I watched Thunderball, I thought to myself, "Oh! I get it! In the 1960s this was pron"
