Saw that decades ago but was so interesting!

Y'all have go to do Enemy Mine. One of Quaid's best!! Without giving anything away, I hope others will back me up :)

MadmanGardens

Yeah, great film, great song that was really popular, and an all-star cast.

Gary Fixler

all that body horror and Dennis Quaid eating shrimp is the most nauseating thing in the movie...

Doug Shore

Actually, you know, a St. Elmo's Fire reaction wouldn't be bad at all!

Mastervodo

Visuals aside, it's just a dark movie. Besides putting a mirror up to beauty it also puts one up to ourselves and how we literally eat ourselves alive to reach and keep unreasonable standards.

Kron0n

Its pretty hilarious to hear "this movie is insane!" like only half an hour in lol. It's a Disney movie compared to the second half

19:51 - 19:52 - uncensored Demi boobs. not really complaining, just FYI

Fozzik

"The last acceptable prejudice is physical attraction." I know Sasha Coen Baron quoted it but I don't know where it comes from. It still rings in my head to this day and this movie really presses the point.

One of the great aspects of this movie is that you can pick apart and analyze quite a lot about it and arrive at different conclusions. I think the overall message is astonishingly clear which is why imo the movie did so well but also there are parts when a lot of plp can disagree. I saw sue the exact opposite as what you guys did, I never saw Sue as the same person as Elisabeth, I always though the whole point of the movie was that your younger self can be a completely different person to who you are currently, yes they state that they are one and the same but that's just to make the point that they aren't, the message of this imo boiled down to obsession with your younger self can be poisonous, it can be toxic and even kill you, better to focus on the now. Such a great movie be sure to check out revenge if you haven't, revenge went low on the radar but it's the directors 1st big movie and it's also top notch feminist movie, love her and will watch anything she does from now on.

jose giron

Yup you guys it’s Time to finally watch Barbarian

Henry Sanchez

oh shit :D, great, this can´t be a coincidence

maikeru

Sue? Harvey? Did someone say SUE HARVEY?!

Rev

You guys should definitely check out "Anora" as well. It's the movie that won Best Picture at the Oscars last year.

ShadowStunts

That’s rough, Jason. I hope you can get to a brighter place.

Matthew Farrer

The distorted way she looks at herself in the doorknob and then continually checks the mirror until she angrily wipes everything off….i have never seen a more accurate portrayal of how it feels to have a very distorted body image and a lot of self loathing. 😔 struggling with poor body image, and on again off again eating disorder, this movie speaks to me on so many levels.

One of the most incredible theater experiences I have ever had. Half of the audience was shocked and stoic and the other half was screaming laughing. The wildest ride. Great reaction!!

Matthew Johnson

Oh, and if you have access to the BluRay extras check out “Reality+”, a short film from the same director with the same themes but a slightly sweeter ending.

Matthew Farrer

This is the textbook case for “I know writers who use subtext, and they are all cowards”. George’s reference to Cinderella was interesting, because this film to me is put up like a fairytale or a fable, these great big bold in-your-face storytelling strokes. I loved it and was stoked to see it on your list.

Matthew Farrer

I have a taste for scrambled eggs with ketchup.

I have also dreamt of worse versions of myself. But those weren’t really aspirational. They were more like nightmares.

Jlloyd

Utterly thrilling, gross, and poignant - what more could you want? I was so glad to have seen in this at the cinema with an audience - we here in the UK are not particularly expressive in cinemas, but with this one, we had repeated squeals at the body horror, nervous laughter, and a few screams. It was one of the best cinema experiences I'd had in years. You could tell everyone was enrapt with it. Absolutely love it. Mark my words. further down the line this will be held up as a classic of its genre. And your reaction to it was everything I was hoping for.

Phil Robinson

This one movie that can make me loose my appetite…

Matthew Richson

I cannot WAIT for them to watch 28 Years Later. Such a trippy movie and it made me tear up.

KyloJames

The most beautiful and bizarre movie I think I’ve ever seen, next to 28 Years Later
