I changed my subscription so I could watch the full version of this

Jordan Barnes

It's not really a rom-com though. The relationship is secondary to the main plot which is Victor waiting to get into the US and all the peoples lives he ends up touching along the way.

Christina Doxstader

A sweet movie. One of the best simple, nice, funny movies ever made

Paul T Hewes

If you want to see a serious grown up Enrique you need to see Andor season 1 and 2 then see Rogue One to wrap the story up.

Rnd1000

The "Shaka, when the walls fell" patron is really playing the long game.

Pepijn Schmitz

Yeah, everytime Simone is fan girling about Zoe being a Trekkie I'm thinking "Well, yeah, of coarse she's a Trekkie, she the new Uhura for crying out loud." Maybe when they get to new movies she'll realize how on brand it is for Zoe to be a Trekkie since she probably did forget that that is who plays that character. However, she might not since it's probably going to take years for them to get that far and she might forget about this movie entirely by then.

Keeping the Faith is a really great movie

Damn! What a list!! All fabulous. The weak link might be Knight & Day but that’s a nitpick My favorite Kendrick film, my favorite Curtis film (tied with Notting Hill), and an excellent Damon film.

Some more (non-standard) Rom-Coms and Rom-Drams Mr. Right (2015) - [Action Rom-Com] Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell Knight and Day (2010) [Action Rom-Com] Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz About Time (2013) [Sci-fi Rom-Com-Dram] Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson The Adjustment Bureau (2011) [Sci-fi Rom-Dram] Matt Damon and Emily Blunt

George: "Man, Tom Hanks is really good at crying eh" Simone: *actively sobbing* "Yeah, he's good"

Ari Ramirez

BH is Victor Navorski, because В is the V sound, and Н is the N sound in Slavic alphabets. Those aren't actually B and H. They're В and Н, the Russian letters.

Gary Fixler

More signs points to Andor. It's time.....

Saifu

Honestly probably my favorite Tom Hanks movie.

Nathan C Johnson

please continue tom hanks movies with the movie That Thing You Do! i think you will enjoy it! specifically the Theatrical Cut because I think the Extended version kinda slows down the movie too much

BH = VN (Viktor Navorskiy). B is Russian V, H is Russian N (pronounced V and N, just cyrillic characters). The country isn't real, he speaks what seems to be Eastern European gibberish, but when he's learning from Forbes Travel Guide, he's reading Russian, though oddly translated. His international passport had Cyrillic characters, but not in a way any word in Russian would ever be combined. Conclusion: just don't worry about it too much. It's a made up country with a language that doesn't exist.

The real story is soooooo much worse.

I had never seen this one before, and I was surprised it was a Rom Com! Did not know Gamora and Cassian Andor were in it either! And I was all tearing up with Simone at the romantic parts.

I understand the upset about the medicine, but you have to remember that America has been a completely fucked up shitshow for at least 50 years.

It’s quite lovely. It has a zippy, melodic tune that fits wonderfully with Williams’ scores while feeling specific for Victor’s sensibilities and charm. Always love a Spielberg/Williams collaboration.

I feel like people (or perhaps cinephiles and movie fans) are rather dismissive of this film. Is it top tier Spielberg? No, but you’re asking for movies to constantly be at a 5/5 masterpiece. For what it is, The Terminal is well-acted (a fantastic ensemble of actors with their own mini arcs), beautifully shot, has great production design (that airport literally becomes a character by the end), and has unexpectedly hilarious and sad moments, while wrapped up in a sweet message that resonates with a lot of people. These are the mid-budget films Hollywood should go back to making. It’s a lost art of making a great solid studio-level comedy/drama that doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel but hit all those notes perfectly and effectively. Really good film. Happy you guys responded well to it.

paul rai

Lol if you want anymore confirmation Simone doesn't watch any sports her response to thinking this movie started goat lmao 🤣.

I'll just say this, the musical score on this movie is highly underrated IMO. It's so beautiful

Christina Doxstader

I’ve been really trying to incorporate aggressive Simone tactics in my everyday life when I want people to do stuff for me. “Get off your ass and let me borrow $20 because I’m broke this weekend!”. I’ve had varying results.

Roddrick Smith

filmed at mirabel

Adam Wetstein

Clearly it is time to watch Andor! I forgot Diego Luna was even in this movie

Phil Jacke

I am SOOOO glad that you guys or at least someone reacted to this film. I have been saying for years that this movie doesn't get the love it truly deserves. Great Reaction!! 😁😁👏🏾👏🏾 **Edit** Me being the empathy that I am..... Seeing your reactions really made wanna give you guys a big hug!

Duron Ball

Tom Hanks falls to 2nd place on the crying scale behind Viola Davis. Not only does she evict mucho tears from her ducts, she snots too!

ShoNuff3000

CASSIAN ANDOR! Diego Luna...from Rogue One

ShoNuff3000

As an Iranian-American this movie was a huge deal for us when it came out. We all wanted Nasseri’s story to be heard. Unfortunately neither Spielberg nor the studios publicly admitted that this movie was based on Nasseri. That was really disappointing.

Ashkaun

Also I would just like to throw out: this is one of the most underrated scores John Williams has ever composed. I find myself humming the main theme all the time despite not watching the movie particularly often.

Jeff K

Regarding the language shown as "Krakozhian", it's mainly Bulgarian, but sometimes they mix in Russian, and a made-up slavic-sounding language for some scenes. Apparently the way Viktor slowly learns English is incredibly accurate to immersion-learning a second language as an adult. Which words he uses correctly versus getting phrases slightly wrong, mispronunciations, etc. Tom Hanks' father-in-law really is from Bulgaria, so he based Viktor on him.

JBK405

Such a good movie. My favourite Tom Hanks movie remains 'The 'burbs' hilarious.

John_rd

Simone saying “he’s really cute” when seeing Diego Luna seems like another point in favor of watching Andor, since he’s the titular character. And I appreciate that Zoe’s character is a Trekkie in this, given she went on to play Uhura in the new Star Trek movies.

Jeff K

It's scary. I'm white af and I'm still concerned about my public social media presence returning to the States in a few days. I made sure my power of attorney is in place so my dad can sell my assets and I can live overseas if they don't like my opinions on this admin and don't let me return home.

Dan

Man, Stanley Tucci's character is an angel compared to the kind of stuff that goes on at immigration in US airports today.
