Better Call Saul 601-602

The scene at Ocotillo and the twins actions actually make perfect sense. The twins are the ones who need to be careful with how they approach, Nacho does not; his only concern is escape. The twins aren't marching slowly and ominously for dramatic effect, but because they don't have a good way to approach a vehicle with an armed individual inside WITHOUT simply killing said individual. The onus for attack is on Nacho, and the more time passes, the more the Salamanca's advantage grows.

Look who I saw in traffic yesterday. https://photos.app.goo.gl/te5e5ofQreneLdZa7 You can get the license plate from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Celebrity-Machines-Breaking-Goodmans-LWYRUP/dp/B00DTE70G6 The one I saw was spelled differently. I think it was an actual New Mexico license plate.

Gary Fixler

George and Simone, all kidding aside, you are two of the best in the world at what you do.

Brien Kliver

What the hell is a "MILF"?

Justin Leone

Every time I see a poll posted, I wonder "Is this the one that will finally have The Good Place and/or... Andor on it?"

Justin Leone

Yeah, rewatch the scene where Lalo goes to the home of the very nice couple. And he is so charming, pleasant, truly nice and means it, until it's time to murder them. Pay attention to the dialogue in that scene, and how the evidence later gathered by Gus' group and the Cartel lead them to believe Lalo has died, a charred corpse and the "dental records" seemingly "prove" it. Not for Gus though. And now Lalo is after his own "prueba," his proof.

David Caine

So Lalo had been sending that bearded guy to the dentist to have his teeth match Lalo’s in preparation for a day he may want to fake his own death? Now that is planning ahead or should I say planning a head. 🤪

Jonathan Eaton

eladio is the big boss guy with the pool

Zoran24

I see this a little different. I think Jimmy sees himself…as the goofball; the showman. We know he doesn’t really think of HIS misdeeds, as all bad…because he’s serving the greater good (at least in his mind). Kim on the other hand: when she’s doing Gisele with Jimmy; well he doesn’t mind that. It’s innocent, goofing around; the kind of thing Jimmy sees as harmless (even if it’s not, or isn’t always). What she did here with the Kettlebells…straight up brutal; no nonsense, efficient. That’s not what Jimmy sees as “hijinx”. And yes…he doesn’t see it as “organic” to Kim’s character; whereas he’s always been Slippin’ Jimmy/Saul Goodman. And we know he wonders…even out loud…if he’s a bad influence on her.

CD

I know that we, as the audience, know that Chuck was behind Jimmy never getting hired by HHM and was the one always holding him back, but Howard was always the face of it to Jimmy and Kim. I can't remember the specifics, but I'm sure Kim blamed Howard for holding her back at HHM, especially went she basically demoted and kicked out of an office for something Jimmy did. Then, she definitely hates Howard for the things he did in Chuck's name after his death(the $5,000 so the will wouldn't be contested, the scholarship or whatever in Chuck's name, giving them the letter from Chuck). Howard definitely seems like "The Big Bad" from Kim's point of view. Jimmy might just hate Howard just cuz it's fun to hate him. As for Jimmy being reluctant, especially during the Kettleman scene, I don't think it's just that he doesn't want her playing in the mud with him. I think he doesn't want her to jeopardize herself, career-wise. He definitely thinks better of her, or at least that she's better than him, and doesn't like the idea of her doing bad stuff out in the open.

sarCC

I dunno if you guys are doing a poll for the next show but please add either Andor or The Good Place, if not both!

Deserana12

Scary Kim 💜 Jimmy was almost Mr. Kettleman in that scene while Kim took charge!

MarisoL

If youre planning on a 3 episode run its gotta be 7/8/9! Not even just for preference but for the story direction.

Timothy

Betsy Kettlebell —> MILF. Hot take? 🤔

CD

Disagree with whoever said to watch 5/6/7 together. Its fine but unnecessary. The brief mid-season break was not intended by the writers and only really happened so the season could qualify for awards in 2 different Emmys cycles.

Mackenzie Herren

so happy BGS is back!

Ketzalborne

You're wrong about Mike and Jimmy in season 5. That didn't happen.

Michael Chavira

We had to wait two years to finally see the final season due to 2020. They did a two episode premiere. I saw a video where Rhea Seehorn explained that Mike Ehrmantraut was created simply because Bob Odenkirk wasn't available for filming one day. When Jane died, the original story was Saul comes in to help dispose of Jane's body, but Odenkirk was filming something else at the time and they created Mike Ehrmantraut as the guy. Which doesn't sound like Jimmy to be the kind of guy to help get rid of the body. Even though their bad people, The Salamanca's are my favorite. Hector, Lalo, Tuco, and The Brothers. My favorite tv villains. But mainly Kim, Jesse, and Nacho, Gus and Mike are also my favorites.

K!ll Molli

The book by H.G. Wells, "The Time Machine" which appeared in Saul's house in "Wine and Roses" that was being cleared out was also in Episode 2 "Carrot and Stick" in the bedroom at Kim's place. Remember that Mike and Jimmy talked about time travel when they were in the desert in season 5? Keep the book in mind...it may show up again. When Ignacio was hiding next to the road and the phone rang, it was Tyrus on the other end as identified in captions. The “twins” Marco and Leonel Salamanca are not brothers but are cousins and are referred to as the “The Cousins." In reality, the two actors ARE brothers and are about 3 years apart in age. Diverticulitis: "Diverticulitis is inflammation of irregular bulging pouches in the wall of the large intestine. Typically, the wall of the large intestine, also called the colon, is smooth. An irregular, bulging pouch in the colon wall is called a diverticulum. Multiple pouches are called diverticula. ... Mild diverticulitis is usually treated with rest, changes in your diet and possibly antibiotics. Severe diverticulitis usually needs antibiotic treatment in the hospital. Surgery may be needed for severe or frequent diverticulitis." https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diverticulitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20371758 During the phone call with Hector, when Lalo was figuring out "prueba" ("proof") he could have skipped a lot of letters after that after getting "P"! Spanish words starting with "P" only include Pa, Pe, Pi, Po, Pu, Py, Pl, Pr, Pé, Pí and so Lalo was wasting time saying "B" and "C" and so on once he had the "P"! Spanish has 27 letters in its alphabet, all the same ones as in English and also "ñ" and the only letter with a tilde.

REDR58

If it was said but forgotten, season 6 had a few major shoot difficulties. Bob Odenkirk almost died during the season, he also was training for Nobody so he looks different for both reasons. And COViD restrictions. Also a long the time between seasons and COViD break. Ed B was just starting to suffer the effects of an aging disease which slowed him down. So if you notice any subtle acting differences in the characters (obviously Bob ) it was a challenging final season to put it politely.

Is that all Asian deserts? I think Thai and Indian deserts are pretty sweet, don’t know about Korean and the other South Asian countries. I am aware of Japanese deserts being less sweet, at least some with bean paste. Even the cat was scared of Kim, I align to Simone’s thinking Jimmy likes when Kim is playful and he can be bad, not both of them.

SpankTheMonk

Got to watch your Patreon cuts! ❤️ I can imagine how much George is editing and seeing. I don’t know how much you like seeing yourselves but watching the previous reacts seems like a must 🤷. But helps catch up on things you missed more than even the show recaps. My two cents

SpankTheMonk

It's so very Saddam Hussein!

Angzarr

It’ll definitely fool the CineBuns.

CD

It's all good stuff. I'm really excited about Vince Gilligan's next project.

Jesse Coombs

Ed Begley Jr also appeared in an episode of The Simpsons!

REDR58

i wholeheartedly agree with this right here

Alexander Stavnsbo

Whoever told you to watch episodes 5, 6 & 7 together is very cruel. We're not watching cable TV here. There's no reason to follow the original mid-season break. But, If you did want to watch 3 episodes to even out the end of the season, it would make more sense, and a MUCH BETTER REACTION, to watch episodes 7, 8 & 9 together.

Michael Chavira

Always have a body double with your same dental records so you can waste them to fake your death- lesson learned from the cartel

Actuarial Lurker

That is Jimmy's mansion after he and Walt get Vacuumed...the gold toilet....

Actuarial Lurker

A detail people don't usually pick up on is that Tyrus told Nacho to immediately shoot anyone trying to break in. They were hoping Nacho to fire at the Salamancas and have them kill him in the shootout.

Adam Vialpando

Twin Peaks & Andor next!

ShadowStunts

I thought it was fairly obvious but so many people don't seem to get it at first. Maybe I think too much like a criminal.

Adam Vialpando

Jimmy usually tricks people into stuff by exploiting their weakness or a situation where as Kim straight terrorised the Kettlemans into compliance; her method may work better but it is far more brutal and Jimmy is concerned about Kim engaging in it. He gave them the money because he felt sorry for them, Kim doesn't which puts Jimmy in awkward position of feeling like he has more moral compunction than she does.

Alan Pownall

Days of Wine and Roses is an old saying meaning "A bygone era of innocence and simplicity"

Zinphad

Kim may be my favorite TV character ever.

Zinphad

Kim - what a goddam character.

Helly R

Some really great foreshadowing in episode 2. A speeding truck backing towards the twins is a nice nod to their encounter with Hank. Even better was the scene with Kim and the Kettlemans. It reminded me of the way Walt successfully strongarmed Gretchen and Elliot in the last episode of Breaking Bad. The difference here is that Kim had real dirt on them. I think what I love most about BCS is that it's the only prequel I've ever seen that doesn't fall into the same traps that other prequels do. There's all these nods to Breaking Bad and it's really fun to notice them. But they're just easter eggs. They never make you feel like they're trying to forcefully add more meaning to minor supporting characters, locations or objects.

Brandon

The song that played in the beginning of episode 1 was an instrumental version of "the days of wine and roses" which is from the movie of the same name--one of the many references to classic cinema in the show. Also it was all shot in color and the effect of transitioning from black and white was done by simply starting with black and white ties and mixing in more colorful ties later

Phil Jacke

Someone may have shared this already, but Cliff is played by Ed Begley Jr. who is the son of actor Ed Begley, who played the Full-On Racist in “12 Angry Men”

Brad Lowry

Check out the dude who wrote the opening riff to BCS, Barrie Cadogan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IaHn481W8E

Gary Fixler

Wine and Roses is a reference the 1962 film Days of Wine and Roses which has thematic similarities to this show.

Helly R

No, no, New Jersey isn’t that bad. It’s worse. Kidding! (Mostly)

REDR58

The beginning of the end... 😭 It's wild to me that Breaking Bad exploded in popularity right before the final season started (because it came to Netflix). But a lot of the audience didn't stay to watch Better Call Saul, which was always raved about by longtime fans. So many people say BCS is the better show, but it has more of a cult classic status.

Brandon

George : "If New Mexico is the land of enchantment, which state is the land of disenchantment?" Me : New Jersey ;)

Vwlss Nvwls

Breaking Bad was a groundbreaking, amazing, defining, super show that is one of the top shows of all time. Better Call Saul shows that Breaking Bad was Vince Gilligan's practice show so he could come up with this.

TGrimace

Farscape would be amazing. Especially with their enjoyment lately of scifi shows like Star Trek. I think Twin Peaks would make George insane. I love how he over-analyzes everything, but I'm not sure that would go well with Twin Peaks. That being said, I'd love to see their reactions to it!

TGrimace

There are at least three roads in Vancouver now? They're really moving up! Last I heard, there was only one road in Canada.

Rev

Hello Dark Kim.

TGrimace

'2nd best lawyer' cup throw was impressive. Even more so because Kim made it without yelling "Kobe"

Carlos Hurtado

Considering the Cinebinge trope of salivating over the food seen on screen, I would recommend having a Cinnabon/cinnamon roll handy for episode 10. You could even make a game of it: see who can resist the longest while watching.

Karl Ries

You probably know it but it's interesting that sauls first trip to the kettlemans tax place, the older gentleman getting the refund was the guy walt bought the truck from in breaking bad (truck is in the parking lot),and kidnapped Holly

Rick West

With Better Call Saul coming to a close, there's definitely some other TV shows I'd love to see you react to. They'd make for such great and fun reactions: -The Twilight Zone (1959–1964) -The Outer Limits (1963–1965) -Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974-1975) -Transformers (The 80's animated show and the 1986 movie) -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987-1996) -DuckTales (1987–1990 and the 1990 movie) -Tales from the Crypt (1989-1996) -The Simpsons (Up until season 15) -Twin Peaks (1990-1991; 2017) -Darkwing Duck (1991–1992) -Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995) -X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997) -The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993–1994) -Babylon 5 (1993–1998) -Gargoyles (1994–1997) -Superman: The Animated Series (1996–2000) -Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999–2002) -Farscape (1999–2003) -SpongeBob SquarePants (Up until season 4 and the movies) -Family Guy (Up until season 6) -Jack of All Trades (2000) -It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (TV Series 2005-2025) -The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008–2009) -The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (2010-2012) -Gravity Falls (2012–2016) -Hannibal (2013–2015)

Jeb Manning

This season is what solidified my opinion that Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad. I was kinda of that way of thinking before, but season 6 is so good. Very excited.

Jeb Manning

Lalo was using the guy at the beginning as a body double, its why they both had the same dentist and why he made him shave the same way as him before he killed him

newhastings

Michael Mando doesn’t get NEARLY the credit he deserves for this show. I mean, people recognize he was very good but he got so overshadowed by the bigger characters. But man… his performance as Nacho is just amazing.

Jeff K

I was waiting to see if you caught this at the beginning of Episode 2. Lalo had sent his body double to the dentist, which is why everyone believed Lalo was dead; the dental records matched. Additionally, the teaser for Season 6 showed the twins walking along the deck. If you noticed the markers, you could see the letters D and R. Numerically, D is the 4th letter and R is the 18th letter of the alphabet. Season 6 premiered on April 18, 2022.

Mike Medaugh

Oh boy, you guys are in for a RIDE. Cannot wait to watch this last season with you both. Better 👏 Call 👏 Saul 👏

KyloJames

These final seasons of the Gilligan/Gould universe are satisfying to watch the methodical storytelling pay off in a big way. The performances are all amazing too. Hope you enjoy the road ahead ☺️👊

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

in the video george says he was advised to do 5,6,7 as one. i think someone else on here gave that suggestion before others said 1,2,3 lol.
