Agreed! her facial shift in the tent after she gives Irv the snow seal is a huge tell and amazing acting

Can you imagine if the characters were AIs, and their jobs were effectively akin to input prompts? Hey MarkGPT, Parse this data file, isolating parts that illicit an emotional response. Hey GwendolynGPT, raise a baby goat, while being a giantess. Hey BurtGPT, alternate performing planogram with producing watering cans or hatchets, and deviate only if you find an opportunity to form a social relationship with a member of a different department.

2025-06-02 01:20:54 +0000 UTCi think many of us were suspicious towards Helly, some of us already from chapter 1, but it's probably because we had more time to theorize and consider it between each episode. What Helly said to Irving wasn't just cruel, it was manipulative and hidden in a fake layer of empathy. watching these episodes again, you can actually see her whole demeanor and expression change at certain points. very subtle and good job from the actress playing her.

2025-06-01 15:59:15 +0000 UTCThis season of Severance is crazy. It’s weird how the episodes are so slow, but at the end you realise so much has happened. In S2 the episodes move the story along but there is a huge difference in styles. E.g. we’ve seen one episode is innie-only, one is outie-only, one is the ORTBO. I’m with you guys in that I didn’t realise she was an outie. There were not enough episodes between them being reunited and the reveal for me to notice. However, there are subtle signs on a second watch - looks she gives are very cold, her walk is midway between Helena and Helly R. Britt Lower did a great job. Obviously, if you make it too obvious it is not a reveal. Whole episode felt cold and super-creepy though.

2025-06-01 11:13:57 +0000 UTCYou guys are some of the only reactors that fully believed Helly, so I want to draw some points from interactions that Irving was having that made him skeptical of Helly. Since I didn’t believe Helly, I noticed Irving also not believing. In the break room video the rest of the team learn that Helly and Mark kissed and right before Irving was going to talk about his experience Helly lies. This is why he only tells Dylan about the elevator away from Helly and Mark. In episode 3 (@10:07 of this video) Helly tries to comfort Irving before he goes to O&D and she holds his hand. You can see Irving give Helly a skeptical look because physical contact is limited on the severed floor. “A handshake can be granted upon request.” To an outie that gesture is natural but not to an innie. In episode 4 Hellys entire demeanor and face changes when her and Irving are speaking in his tent. Around the campfire, what Helly says is cruel because Helly has always been against the company and anytime she’s mean or rude to the other members is if they are being loyal to the company. She would never rub their face in the fact that the company took away something or someone they care about. At this point he doesn’t believe her at all and has a paranoid idea that she’s an outie. But it would be impossible for an outie to do that. In his dream the computer numbers become the name Egan. This is the connection that would prove his theory. If Hellys outie was an Egan she could be on the severed floor as an outie. Also what Irving said might seem crueler, but it was more of a reality check for mark. And Helly would be adamant about finding Ms.Cassie and while Helly was helping mark she was indifferent to his cause. This is just about subtle clues that Irving was piecing it together. However, if you look back there are a lot small Easter eggs in Hellys behavior that shows she’s not an innie.

You were even suspicious of IRVING over Helena lol. You called him paranoid! Even after what was essentially the reveal you didn't believe it Your reactions actually remind me of point they make in The Prestige where if the magic trick is TOO good, the audience doesn't know how to react. Normally people get really animated during the climax here but you're both just kind of blank-faced lmao

2025-05-31 02:58:31 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure Irving figures it out through his spiritual dream journey in the forest. I think its a commentary on how much Irving believes in the Kier religion and how his journey mirrors that of kier's. Helena Eagen was the twin that needed to be purged in the waters of Woe's hollow to expel the "evil" twin like Dieter so that the truth was revealed like the zombie girl.

2025-05-29 06:09:57 +0000 UTCI swear I'm not trying to pat myself on the back, but I caught that Helly was actually her outie in episode 1. The reason was that there was a very specific shot of her face that hinted there was something going on. Simply the face she made looked like Helena, so I was suspicious. Then, she had trouble turning on her computer, fumbling for the button. And this is immediately after seeing Milchik turn on his computer without even looking at the button. Subtle but very intentional. As for the cruelty, Irv did say some fucked up things, but it was because he was suspicious and frustrated that no one believed him. Still in character. Helly, on the other hand, was clearly deflecting and being hurtful as a way to get the intention off of her. Not in character.

2025-05-29 02:07:33 +0000 UTCYeah I suspected it was the outie from the jump, I'm good at guessing plot twists like this. I'm actually surprised that George didn't suspect what was going on, he's usually good at picking up on these things too. Also many other reactors caught on pretty early too, but I'm glad G and S didn't catch on becasue it made the reveal more interesting.

2025-05-28 02:02:03 +0000 UTCOne big hint for the audience that Helly was her outie since she came back from the Overtime Protocol was when It showed her coming back down the elevator, there was never the "ding" that otherwise accompanies the innie/outie swap

2025-05-28 01:25:56 +0000 UTCI just want to thank everyone for not spoiling the Helly/Helena twist. The amount of reactions to this show where I’ve seen the comments sections spelling out the twist before the reveal is insane.

2025-05-27 13:02:03 +0000 UTCIrving was also skeptical about Helly in episode 3 when she said "We've got you". That whole interaction was off and he was suspicious then. Also here in the dream the MDR computer was made up with the letters "Eagan" but that can be easy to miss on first watch. There is also the moment in the tent with Irving when Britt Lower does this crazy evil stare that I thought was pretty clear. It's so interesting how some people picked this immediately and some did not. Something was off with "Helly" the whole time. All her interactions are somewhat stilted - she has a different manner. In Ep3 especially, Helly R would have 100% kissed Mark in the hallway, whereas Helena doesn't know what to do, because she's seemingly never experienced that kind of genuine affection from being stuck in this cult, and she's not free with her emotions in the way that Helly is. It's also the way she speaks, which is different from Helly in season 1. The way Helena says "Irving", for example, is very specific to her. The biggest "the show is telling you" clues are Helly fumbling with the computer switch in Episode 1, and the elevator not beeping for Helena in Episode 2. The biggest of all (not really, but ha) is that Helena does not strut like Helly R.

2025-05-27 12:53:36 +0000 UTCI had heard on a breakdown podcast that someone isolated Dylan talking while Irving was having his first dozing session season one. He goes on to tell Helly that Mark got his light up head cube because he completed the file he was working, Allentown, on in record time and somehow change the way that they do the refining that's sped it up and more files got completed. They didn't go into detail but it does show that there is something special about Mark to some degree.
