in episode 6 why didn't they radio the wife and let her talk to the husband?

2025-06-12 06:31:42 +0000 UTCThis echoes my thoughts very well, Ellie's characterization in episode 5 in particular is odd, and robs the revenge story of a lot of urgency by giving her some levity. It's a directoral fumble, in my view, because the ruthless, angry Ellie you see at the end of the episode is perfect, I really wanted more of that energy throughout, but as you said, it's harder to make a character like that in a TV show than it is a game, so it's a difficult line to tread. Overall positive on this season, it's fixed some issues I had with the game, but is still in my view heavily restricted by the game's pacing.

2025-06-01 10:11:43 +0000 UTCAs someone who is a fan of the game - George's criticism is my main gripe as well. In the game, Ellie is fearsome, competent, and right down scary in her pursuit of revenge. Even when there are lighter moments, like that "Take On Me" serenade in episode 4, Ellie still carries the burden of witnessing Joel's gruesome death, and it shows in the game. The fact that this is not in the TV series says clearly it is a writing room decision. I suppose they were worried that Ellie would come out as too negative of a character, but she is not that likeable in the second game as in the first. Other than that, I like the season as well, though I still believe the first one is better. Episode 6, for example, was perfect. That part about Joel and Tommy's dad is not in the game, by the way, but it fits so great, and makes the whole porch scene much better. By the way, the porch scene is one of the very last things you see in the game, as you don't know whether Joel and Ellie mended their relationship towards the very end. All these birthday snippets appear at different points of the game, as interludes. Unfortunately, too many people put the blame on Bella Ramsey, as if they wrote the script. But I guess it is what it is. I still enjoy the series, and I will be there for season 3, though I wish they had stayed closer to the feel for Ellie from the game.

2025-05-25 20:48:43 +0000 UTCI was expecting them to introduce spores this season as the next stage evolution of cordeyceps, because the scene with Nora doesnt work without that element, like in the game. Also the spores might not infect Ellie, but it can surely affect her breathing and casue respiratory problems, so its funny she doesnt even cough once while breathing all that stuff.

2025-05-25 19:56:38 +0000 UTCYes, It dips a lot and they are aware. Therefore they still have the "Have your own copy" versions. Eventually they might move to having subtitles on at least for the "Uncovered" ver. in order to deal with any current limitations .

2025-05-25 10:00:43 +0000 UTCThe audio from the actual show is very low at times... almost impossible to hear, and when you raise the volume to be able to hear it, your voices are so loud...

2025-05-25 05:22:42 +0000 UTCSorry to be so blunt but this show has become absolute garbage. I never thought they could make the show even worse that part 2 of the game, especially since part 1 was a masterpiece in storytelling. Miss me with this one.

2025-05-24 22:20:03 +0000 UTCI get the frustration with Joel doing what he did to Eugene but do you honestly want them to move and bury Eugene with the Cordyceps still active in his body.. We seen in the first season the woman laying on the table be operating on The fungus was still alive reaching for the doctor. I don’t agree with how he did it but I understand completely.

2025-05-24 07:03:16 +0000 UTCI think Joel saying he promised to Ellie about Eugene is awful. But I doubt Eugene is the first person to be bitten outside the community. And I can't imagine the council would be cool with bringing everyone bitten back to the settlement. Let's say Gail sees him and runs to hug him and he bites her. Or he turns and they have to shoot him in front of her. If I'm on the council I'd vote for a put-'em-down don't bring-'em-back to the settlement policy. I do understand why Ellie was so distraught. She knows Joel will lie to her face when the going gets tough. It basically confirmed what happened at the hospital.

2025-05-24 05:49:30 +0000 UTCI personally feel like Ellie isn't being dumbed down. She doesn't want to do the boring stuff even if she is capable so someone else does it. When it comes to combat though she leads the way and comes up with the plan/tactics eg getting them away from the subway horde, and also the stalkers (even though it didn't work, it was a chance and Dina came up with nothing), and letting Jessie and Dina escape the Seraphites while she lead them away. She's not as dumb as she pretends.

2025-05-24 05:42:39 +0000 UTCI don't understand the moth=death portion. I thought the moths referenced "when you're lost in the darkness, look for the light" as a slogan for the fireflies.

2025-05-24 05:16:25 +0000 UTCAt least in episode 5, uncovered version's show audio volume is really going in and out, going from levels that sound right with George and Simone's audio very quickly. That first scene with the soldier describing the basement, her volume goes up and down dramatically and I'm certain that was not in the original HBO audio. Going back to the watchalong format for this one because of that.

2025-05-24 05:12:10 +0000 UTCWait how would Dina and Jesse's baby be immune? Did they intentionally have Ellie get bit and not wash her hands and ya know...That'd be wild. That would honestly be a way better route to a cure.

2025-05-24 03:54:58 +0000 UTCalso, did Simone really just ask the question "why doesnt he break the cycle if he knows"?? about a guy whos seconds earlier explain how hes traumatized from childhood? for a woman who talks about the positives of therapy and acceptance, that sure was judgmental as hell to say the equivalent of "why doesnt he just stop having mental problems".

2025-05-24 01:41:39 +0000 UTC1. I’m pretty sure Joel and Tommy’s dad was taking his belt off while walking back to Tommy’s room, so yeah…ass beating incoming 2. Ellie didn’t get her love or interest in space and Astronauts from the museum birthday gift. It was a great gift due to her love of those things but that love and obsession started before she met Joel. She spoke about it many times in S1 her love of Space, NASA, Astronauts and how she knew all the facts, etc. Remember the scene where she told of her favorite Astronaut being Sally Ride 3. The scene in the auditorium that Simone didn’t see the importance of. I guess you didn’t notice but in Episode 6, the song Joel sang on her birthday was the song she started to play/sing in the auditorium so it was showing how she was reflecting on those times but it was too much for her so she stopped almost as soon as she started to sing it. 4. I get what you mean about Dina seeming like the leader and seemingly them dumbing down Ellie, I totally get the point but will push back a bit or at least give a different perspective 1. For sure Dina is the more rational, overall book smart, and level headed. Ellie definitely is smart but maybe a more street smart type of thing which Dina also does possess. I think Ellie is just a hothead and will rush into things and Dina levels her out, let’s think, let’s plan, etc. They balance each other well. 2. Ellie, however, if very good thinking on the fly, in a stressful situation and that is when she takes more control. Such as in the warehouse where they encounter the stalker (first the one before they realized a horde of them). When they thought just one, Dina was a bit panicked not having seen one before but Ellie quickly came w the plan to flank the Stalker. I like how Dina took a 3 second beat (which was her thinking or planning in her head quickly since they didn’t have much time) and then agreed to the plan. Then when they realized a horde, Ellie quickly came up with the Dina in the cage plan, not a great plan but there were no great plans and that did save Dina. So Dina, perfect when time to plan, will cover all the bases and not rush decisions but Ellie when decisions have to be rushed will take over in a pinch
