Late to the show but yeah the audio is bad on this goes in and out and you have to raise it to hear the show which makes George and Simone's voices really loud - still watchable however.

George, I asked ChatGPT what would have happened to the astronauts. Then I asked it to make a short-story based on the last log of the last astronaut, saying her goodbyes. It was surprisingly good, and utterly heartbreaking. Excerpt:
"I don't know why I'm recording this. No one's coming back up here. No one has fuel to bring back old corpses. But I want to believe someone will stand here again someday -- maybe a kid who
dreams of space. Maybe you, listening to this, know how to heal a sick Earth. Or maybe you just want to know who we were."
Maybe you guys can come up with something more uplifting.

Is the audio mix in the No Sync version wonky for anyone else? The WLF conversation at 8:30 or Ellie and Dina at 16:35 seems to just volume dive randomly.

Re: George’s comment about enjoying the show despite video game players’ complaints… Yeah, they turned an A+ 5-star masterpiece into like a solid B+ story. Still has great core ideas and great scenes. But they’re all out of order, the characters are a little off. The game would fix, I’d wager, most or all of your issues. The thing that’s such a bummer is you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube here. This is so many viewers’ first experience of the story, just a much clumsier version. But you’ll never be able to experience the twists and turns the way we did. Like imagine some guy did a fan edit of The Shawshank Redemption and changed all the stuff he didn’t like and moved around scenes arbitrarily. Like he decided you’d know Andy was innocent from the start so you’d like his character more. If that was the version you watched, you’d still be getting a lot of good stuff… just not even close to the best version - which we know because we’ve already seen the much better version. (For anyone thinking this is just a complaint about any change: I loved the new stuff in season 1. The cold opens of eps 1 and 2 and all of ep 3? Makes the whole show worth it. I really like the new Eugene scene. I enjoyed the assault on Jackson. Change isn’t inherently bad. I just think most of the changes this season are.)

Pedro Pascal is the perfect Joel for the show, no question. But for the song Joel sings to Ellie in episode 6, Pedro just isn't a good singer, he can barely sing the song at all. So much of this moment in the game hinges on Joel being a musician and passing that on to Elllie, and Pedro Pascal just doesn't have any musical talent.

"I wonder if we're ever going to see some of those intelligent things", Simone wonders, immediately before she does.
But I completely agree with you guys that Dina is driving the revenge here, vs in the game it is completely Ellie's revenge story.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it and I know one of you brought it up, when Ellie was in the ampitheater and started playing the guitar but it didn't really go anywhere. If you pay attention close enough and remember, she started playing that song Joel played for her on her birthday in the following episode. Probably why it wasn't a long scene.

If you think five hours was bad, we game players didn't see the porch scene until the very end of the game. And it's a 20-30 hour game. Lol. Also, there was a hint in episode 2 that Ellie did go back to talk to Joel. When Jesse woke her up for patrol, you can see she has her guitar back in her room, meaning she at least went back and got it.

I'm a massive fan of the games and have zero problems with the show. The way I look at it is the creator/writer of the games wrote and consulted with the show and even directed certain episodes so if he's satisfied then I have no room or reason to complain.

Was Eugene really going to make it? He was already getting disoriented. Joel shouldn't have promised Ellie at all, if rules are rules he should have put his foot down and told her so. At the very least have Eugene and Gail communicate via walkie.

That porch scene takes place at the literal end of the game. You have to wait a lot longer than the show made you

You are right that you are seeing nothing of Abbie's story this season except for that little bit in episodes 1 & 2. However, this season will end at about the 1/3 mark of the game, and they are following the game pretty closely. Since you have already stated that you are aware that people play as Abbie for a large portion of the game, and you know both the game and the show love flashbacks and replaying scenes adding additional info, I think you know what is coming next season. Don't expect to see a lot of Ellie and Dina in season 3. I'm not sure how well this will play with the show breaking up the game into three different seasons—especially with two years between the seasons. It really screws with the flow of the story, but it is the only way to get everything in. (unless they had made season two about 20-22 episodes long)

Damn, all the space stuff made me realize you haven't seen 'The Right Stuff' from 1983 yet.

Joining the Seraphites is particularly problematic because you have to know which sect you are joining (at least in the show, in the game there might just be one sect). The show has clearly set up two types of Seraphites. The first ones you meet (the ones slaughtered in the woods by the WLF) were the kinder gentler sort who know the one they follow was a human being who they said died 10 years before. The other group whose members include the one tortured by Issac and the group doing the hanging and disemboweling are more, shall we say, zealous, and (as the one Issac tortured said) view the other, less culty group, as heretics. If you must join the Seraphites, you probably want to look for the first group.
As for Ellie torturing Nora... the parallels between Abbie and Ellie are pretty hard to ignore. The way Ellie crouched in front of Nora just like Abbie did in front of Joel. They way they both looked around to find their weapon of torture. The golf club shaped pipe (heavier than the golf club Abbie used). Then three swings to the knee, just like Abbie. If anything Ellie was far more brutal. Abbie at least had pain and anguish on her face mixed with the anger. Ellie's face showed only pure rage. If she is this way with Nora, just imagine how she will be when she finds Abbie. The only way you can proceed in the game at this point is to swing the pipe at Nora, and the game forces YOU to make Ellie swing the pipe... for each swing. You must participate in the torture.
This is one of the things the game (and now the show) does really well. It makes you confront your own beliefs. You start out hating Abbie, and wanting Ellie to go kill all the Wolves who killed Joel. But as Ellie does just that, you start rationalizing why what Ellie is doing is different than Abbie. "Oh, Abbie enjoyed torturing Joel, but Ellie is just torturing Nora for information" (as if torture was even an effective way to get information). As the game progresses you start questioning your own morality. This was one of the big turning points. (And this is only ONE of the things this story make you explore)
Oh, and the song Joel sang in Episode 206 was the same song Ellie started to sing in Episode 205. Pearl Jam's song Future Days.

Ep6 second best ep after 103? I like Dina/Ellie but it's pretty hard to replace the Bella/Pedro chemistry. They really struck gold with them.

I love Dinas story and monolog because it makes Ellies switch all the more impactful, as well as explains why she isn't constantly raging like so many think she should be. Dina made it clear she understood why Ellie wanted her revenge, and it wasn't just for killing Joel. It was how Abby killed him. Revenge is one thing, but what Abby did was sick. Ellie knows that, but at the same time clearly wants to do the same to Abby and her crew. While also knowing she can't show that to anyone, otherwise they'll more than likely try to stop her quest for revenge altogether. Dinas monolog only enforces that when she makes it clear how sick it was for Abby to do what she did. If Dina was with Ellie, Ellie would've just killed Nora quick. But by herself, she let out the monster she's been hiding since Joel died.
