You talked about a flirt count, but failed to have a plow count.

The podcast Words Unraveled is fun for anyone that likes etymology.

That's definitely not crazy. Living Daylights and License to Kill are two of the strongest movies of the whole franchise. Dalton's my favorite Bond by a good margin. He has Connery's severity, without the dated chauvinism. He has Moore's charm, without the silliness. Brosnan's dashing good looks, without the... Actually, Brosnan was also pretty good, but the writing for his movies got increasingly ridiculous. Both of Dalton's movies also had reasonably plausible stories, with Living Daylights perfectly checking off everything a solid Bond movie should have (beautiful and varied locations, a plot with interesting twists, creative action set-pieces, memorable side characters with actual personalities). And License to Kill broke the basic formula a bit, but featured Bond at his most cunning and sympathetic. I feel like neither of these get the broad recognition they deserve.

Simone: "Was she a slow reader, or am I an asshole?? Give her a break! She didn't understand reading until she got to the Rs, and she couldn't spell anything until she got to the Ss.

"We had an encyclopedia. I started at A when I was eight, and now I reached T." "Wow, you must know so much about our universe." "Our what?"

Here we go! What a wonderful journey you are in for. And lots of film history as well, be prepared for effect aged good and bad, just like the stereotypes :D But never mind that, I hope you have fun discovering what each Bond actor brings to the table and how much fun, thrill, and sometimes wacky tricks they get up to. To answer one of your questions, where continuity might be concerned: the books were actually all in a specific sequence, sometimes even with teases for the next one and references to previous missions. The movies only sometimes adopt that, first because they wanted no hard lock which to do next and of course budget reasons. Lather movies sometimes have that actor bound continuity, like with Craig. Casino Royale is actually the introductory tale, and the one unofficial before was a parody of the source material. But that is a tale for another time, let's just say: rights issues have also always been with the series.

Looking forward to this series, but has anyone warned them that the Connery films are from the sixties and will most definitely contain...problematic elements?

CappyZed

This sounds crazy, but I hope they make it to the Timothy Dalton entries. They have aged spectacularly well, effortlessly blending a slightly more serious Bond while still being fun and action-packed. His two movies have somehow become my favorite Bond films. Quite a surprise!

Dr. Evil is certainly much more Blofeld than Dr. No, I’d say. But there are certainly those hints from here.

REDR58

i’m so excited that you guys are starting this franchise from the beginning hopefully you watch all of them don’t skip any of them. Don’t listen to anyone that says skip certain ones. I can’t wait for you guys to get to Thunderball my all-time favorite 007 movie.

BigGuy209

I'm surprised you didn't make the Austin Powers connection - some stuff Mike Myers lifted wholesale from this movie (the shower conveyer belt, the bubble suit worn by Dr No/Dr Evil). To be fair, Dr Evil is based more on the classic Blofield look; grey suit, scar, bald. Maybe you'll see it more in the next films.

Danish has ER too… we often use it in things that plural. Where you use s in english, we put on an er at the end. But we it in other instances too.

lee - ber nool

Dr. Evil's look is based off of Blofeld, whose face is first revealed in "You Only Live Twice."

Tenn Seven

All Germanic languages (including English) have "-er" sounds.

HansD

From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are even better, but everything 'Bond' is there right from Dr. No.

"The blue one is sad, the red one is angry, the yellow one is happy" ... "no wait, I may be thinking of the wrong film now." :D

I am still watching with bring your own copy version but all the commenting seems to be in the other room, so see you over there! 😄

REDR58

Hello?! (echoes...) Wow... It's empty in here. Am I the only one that prefers the "bring your copy" version? I have all the Bond movies in 4K. And I like this way better. Please don't phase it out. 🙂
