The Last of Us: 203 & 204 - Edited

Show kinda missed the mark by not having anything with Abby after Joel’s death. Maybe they will in the next episodes but they haven’t thus far. But if they wait until season 3 to show us more of Abby’s story, then it may fall flat. Having to wait a year+ may not resonant with a lot of viewers.

Vengeance

You will definitely want to watch flashbacks, from this season or the next, that cover a lot of conversations to "fill you in"

Tech Citizen

On your your opening remarks, Abby's father was going to assault and murder a 14 year old, doesnt matter if it was for a 'noble' cause. First of all asking consent from a 14 year old is not valid, even if the child says yes. And thats why in the real world we ask parents or a guardian, and in Ellie's case it was Joel. If, it was Abby instead of Ellie in that situation, her father would have been okay with that? I dont think so. Marlene played an evil role by putting Ellie, an orphan and a sheltered kid in that position. It was disgusting of Marlene to tell Ellie, that she had a 'greater' purpose without giving her the complete information which included her demise. And anyone who talks about the 'cure' is laughable. The logistics aside of making the cure in that rundown hospital with one doctor and atleast 20 year old equipment, the 'cure' itself would be useless, given the state of the world. The majority of the population is dead or infected, and the majority that survived in those twenty tears did compromised things and including children upto certain age. There are militias like WLF and scars, raiders, slavers and cannibals. So whom are they going to save? Most likey the cure itself would be used as a tool against people. The cure also doesnt solve the problem of the infected and only makes people immune, try fighting a bloater or a dozen infected with that immunity. In the first season during the drive to Kansas city, Joel tells Ellie "she doesnt know the world" which is true. So, for her to sacrifice her life not knowing the world she was doing it for was unfair and unjust.

Oh and one more thing: George, they did film around Vancouver. Like, Jackson and the surrounding area is Whistler, as well.

When Ellie is making her speech in the council meeting, I can’t help it, part of me wanted her to turn to the crowd and say that the North recognizes one true king whose name is Stark.

I hope no one influences how you guys view this series. The game and show are two different iterations that I believe excel in flawless production and acting. The writing, for the series however, is a little clunky at the moment, but I think that’s just because we haven’t seen the full season yet. I hope everyone reserves judgement until the season is complete. There’s a lot of stuff they’re not showing us at the moment that will circle back to in later episodes. Great reaction and discussion, love you guys!

Regarding the opening discussion about how you root for your POV character for all of the reasons you guys say, yeah, that’s exactly why the game designers made Abby a playable character, because what better way to get her immediate empathy and create a complex “versus” dilemma than literally having you in her shoes trying to survive in an apocalypse? It immediately connects you to her character in ways that, of course, you can’t really get in the TV format.
