Jackson! lol Resubscribed again so I could watch this and Mando with you guys. Keep up the amazing work you two. Some of the best content on the internet.

Kyle Liquori

George has probably seen this, but last year they had an installation from the set of the 2024 film, “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In”, at Hong Kong International Airport: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPTS8IWFLs0 Some interesting extra info in the description under the video.

Gary Fixler

Jean Claude van Dammit, I was not expecting that entire dump truck factory reveal. (‿!‿)👀

Gary Fixler

It’s kind of like watching an episode of the magic school bus, each episode is both entertaining and educational.

DJS302

Lionheart is so underrated. Bloodsport, Double Impact and Lionheart are my top 3 JCVD movies, but I feel like in Lionheart he does his best acting.

Jason Rivero

Nice try, Lao Che!

Gary Fixler

Not really based on a true story. Frank Dux ended up being a huge con man and bullshit artist.

Simone's Coconut Squire

I always get this one mixed up with Kickboxer... being the same movie and all.

Simone's Coconut Squire

Didn‘t George watch Enter the Dragon at some point? He didn‘t seem to recognize/know Bolo. Maybe he watched it many years ago as a kid and kinda forgot him.

E. D.

Highly recommend Kickboxer another one of his greats, also has another famous meme of his in it which i wont spoil, unless someone else spoiled it.

Jasbro

Another JCVD movie that features a secret fighting tournament is The Quest (1996). It's very well done and worth a watch. Much higher budget, solid acting, and great choreography. The story was developed by Frank Dux & JCVD as well!

Jadepaw

Simone - “please be on two chairs… ope😮🫣 ooooooooo ha ha oooo 😂 ”

So Van Damme is Belgian, playing a French (or Belgian?) immigrant who becomes a captain in the US Army. I guess it's sort of like Schwarzenegger in Predator whose Austrian "Dutch" character who is also in the US Army. No explanation needed! Chinese actor Roy Chiao who played the Japanese Tanaka also played the Chinese gangster "Lao Che" who scammed Indy to get the remains of "Nurhachi" in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I noticed one of the kids during the brief school fight was wearing a "Bartles and Jaymes" T-shirt. Bartles & Jaymes was a highly advertised wine cooler back in the 1980s and early 1990s in the US and their commercials were always on TV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkoF0oGUh4U Van Damme is a pretty good physical actor with great body language and penetrating stares, but at least at this point, his line delivery is pretty bad. Tanaka didn't look particularly old or sickly at all! Just tired. They could have at least made him up to look unwell. The older man with Forest Whitaker is Norman Burton who appears in the James Bond movie "Diamonds are Forever." Sadiq Hossein was played by Hong Kong born Bernard Mariano who is of Filipino descent. Bolo Yeung, who was also in "Enter the Dragon" with Bruce Lee (as was Roy Chiao) has the title of "Mr. Hong Kong" for bodybuilding. Leah Ayres who played the reporter Janice Kent is a Yoga Alliance registered master yoga teacher. So the thing with the two guys chasing Dux around, he was given furlough from his Army post at first, then discovered to be going to Hong Kong when the Kumite is happening. Then he apparently becomes AWOL ??? ("absent without leave") because you just cannot remain on furlough if ordered to return to your post! It's a very serious matter and I don't understand why they didn't make more of this in the movie: "Frank, you're AWOL!" They didn't seem exactly that serious about their job after awhile! That whole plotpoint should have been deleted as it was just a waste of time. Just have Frank actually on leave and go from there. There was too much of Van Damme's butt and not enough Leah Ayres' butt for my liking. Seriously though, you guys always seem surprised by nudity in movies. 1980s movies are full of random nude scenes. Frankly, it's an aspect of filmmaking that is sadly a lost art these days. I thought the fighting choreography was generally fun but there really was no sense of any real physical contact or power behind a lot of the strikes for much of the combat. The injury mentioned in the trivia aside, it really seemed to me that a lot of punches and kicks were being pulled or faked. The combat in Bruce Lee movies and other martial arts films do this and look so much better. Speaking of which, I don't understand how strikes to the groin are at all tolerated in this tournament. It seems like a very underhanded way to win. To me, it seemed like the officials and everyone else in the arena were turning their back on Ching Li after he killed the downed fighter, like it was a dishonorable kill. I could of course be way off with that interpretation! The score for the movie was dreadful and sounded like something from a bad soap opera. And the songs were just.. guh.

REDR58

The best thing about Street Fighter is Ming-Na Wen, Kylie Minogue and the late, great Raul Julia. Too bad it was his last film, but he makes it worth a watch.

REDR58

This movie was a guilty pleasure of mine. If Silvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger weren’t making new movies I would watch the High Kick Van Damme. Frank Dux was Polished, his family moved to San Fernando Valley, California when he was 7 years old. On YT search Bloodsport- Getting the Dux of The Story In a Row. It will tell you more. CYBORG 1989 was my other Van Damme movie.

FranciscoGios

I haven't seen this movie in probably 25+ years, but it held up as fun. And I spent the whole movie waiting with baited breath for trivia, and George reading how Frank Dux is a fraud! P.S. - Dux was born in Toronto, Canada. We damn laying Canucks!

Cory Garron

Definitely should check out Kickboxer. Dude who gets his knee blowed up in this plays the villain.

Mike Adams

Universal Soldier (1992) is an under appreciated JCVD film that I would recommend.

Jadepaw

A good "Primer" for Jean Claude movies. I always liked this one, def not real though ;) I imagine the next logical step would be Kickboxer. Then perhaps Time Cop and Universal Soldier though they kind of start stepping into so bad it's good territory They are a fun first time experience.

s0rd3z

I think it would be perfect as filler inbetween other shows because you don't have to watch all five seasons in a row. Fargo Season 1 might be one of my favourite season of TV of all time

beefjerkywizard

Great video reaction of a great movie! Keep it up Simone and George!

Texas J

Lol, speaking of "fucking Fargo", I highly recommend the Fargo TV show. Each season is it's own story set in different times in the Fargo universe, for lack of a better phrase. It's even better than it sounds.

Jesse Coombs

Ya'll wow!! I'm stoked as hell that you both are reacting to this movie!! It's one of my childhood faves. :D Not my #1 favorite movie for sure, but ya'll have done that one/two already so I've got zero room for complaints. :P (Terminator/Terminator 2 are my top faves) lmao, I'm not gonna lie. I opened up Patreon and saw this reaction up on top and I was was HYPED for it!! xD I either completely spaced that ya'll were reacting to this or I missed it. Either way - I'm HAPPY that ya'll are reacting to this. ((so ya know, all of that before was written before I even hit play on the reaction xD - so if ya'll hate this I'll feel a bit disappointed but I'll be posting this entire dealio regardless - so yeah! :) Very happy that I'm getting to watch this with you both. :D)) This isn't a serious movie but it's darn cool. :P lmao - happy that the sched is getting explained. hahahaha - lmao you two are the fucking best! xD <3 lmao - this movie isn't 100% truth. WAIT - WHAT THE HELL? THAT'S THE ONLY JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME MOVIE THAT YOU'VE SEEN, GEORGE!! lmao, that movie's so awful that it's good. xD :D If this isn't that one I'll try to remember which movie that was. :D (okay, glad that this had a splits scene in it but there totally are other ones as well) This is by far my favorite movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme! This one's so intense! :D hahahaha, this intro just makes me smile with glee! hahahahaha - so many happy memories with this one. :D It isn't always to the death - but you'll come to understand that soon. I love how close he is with that family! :) Always makes me smile. lol, the way he's introduced to them is funny as well. xD I think Simone's right on that. :) Yeah - no, this movie's all about fighting. :) I enjoy this movie's speed into getting to all of this! Jean Claude's speed is something else. :) I'm not sure how of how quick he was during this though. Yeah - his training is scary! xD lmao, I remember wanting to do all of this nonsense as a boy. :P hahahaha, I'm positive that I drove my family nuts with my enthusiasm over this movie and others like it. xD lol - they're buddies actually. :P He'll learn a little something about being impolite though, don't worry. Glad that you picked up on that George! :) YEAH!! This movie has a young - whatever his name is Forest Whitaker in this! :) lol, always makes me smile when I see a young version of him in this. :) Happy that George knows all of this history! Yeah, dude. I'm pretty sure that this was all filmed on location back in the 80's. :D The action in this movie is super intense! I'm looking forward to seeing your faces during the fight scenes. :) :D I'm excited for the trivia as well! hahahaha, love your nerd cred Simone! I always feel so hyped with scenes like this! hahaha - yeah, things like that are possible, Simone. It's crazy but it can happen. hahahaha, he does that in a few movies! It isn't completely pain filled, though. This isn't a fight 'til the death sort of thing! lol, you'll see that soon. Right - yeah. This was the MMA before it was broadcast. This is early UFC unplugged. xD Weight class is HUGE when it comes to fighting, yeah. CHONG LI! This dude's scary. hahaha, yeah. No idea who he is irl but I guess he's a well known dude back in the fighting world or something. lol, probably because this is in China, George. xD That's a gi Simone. YEAH!! That dude's such a bro in this! :) lol, happy that you love the music in this! Stoked that George respects that this movie knows what it's trying to be! hahahaha, hell yeah, Simone! This song's fucking cool, isn't it? :D If I was a spectator I think that I'd enjoy longer fights, maybe. Those are tasers, yeah. He's soldier that works for the US Government, yeah. He's expected to work for them and to not get himself hurt. lol! I love his running scene, running across boats and everything else. :D hahahaha, it makes me so happy. :) I don't care if it's realistic or not, but it's super cool. hahahaha - Simone's thirsty! xD lol, happy Simone? xD lol, I haven't ever heard that either. Oh - this nonsense was just filler. xD Gotta put something in to appease to the ladies. :P hahahhaha, "Not a scratch on it." Love this guy. :P lol, wasn't expecting that scene to last for you George. Half expected Simone to say that. xD George your face is PRICELESS at that compound fracture scene! lol, your eyes went huge! xD This movie may be the most testosterone filled one that ya'll have watched so far. This bit is crazy! Expected, sure - but it's awesome! :D lol, seeing his back get crunched like that is brutal but awesome anyway. LMAO - loved seeing your faces after the nut punch! xD George already knows how this movie's going to go. Dude's evil eyes are SCARY, yeah? No - he isn't dead but he's messed up bad. hahahahaha - wow! I hope that made the YouTube cut! No, that shot is incredible. This was before greenscreen shots were widely used and all that. She's there for her story. lol, you heard Doos too, George? Yup - they go until Matee' or knockout/death lol, no George. It wasn't a pill. It's something to get into his eyes. hahaaha, hearing Simone's theory made me laugh! :) Never change! xD hahahaha, yup! He can! Ya'll didn't forget about the blind fighting bit earlier. :) He does get proper fucked up in this bit, here but he's gonna kick destroy Chong Li here in a minute. :) His blindness bit here is definitely over the top but it's also cool as hell so I don't care one bit about it being that way! :P That fight overall was pretty damn impressive, though. :) LUL The bromance in this next level. hahaha, I'm glad that you were pleasantly surprised Simone. It makes me so happy that you both enjoyed this movie so much! Watching this made me feel incredibly happy. :) I definitely appreciate being able to watch this today! lmao, this song is fucking awesome - isn't it?! hahahahaha - this movie's based on a lie, yeah. xD lol, yup! Johnny Cage was that dude, yup. He's done the splits in a number of movies, yeah. :) hahahaha, FeelsBadMan for the guy who's name got skipped! xD

Logan Kerlee

This one'll always be my top fave when it comes to Van Damme movies. :) Totes understand why you'd prefer other ones though.

Logan Kerlee

hahahaha, that's awesome! I never knew the game but it sounds accurate for a game like that. :)

Logan Kerlee

This reaction was so much fun! I was very happy watching along. :D Hope that it helped turn your day around. :)

Logan Kerlee

Absolutely no truth to this lol. Great 80's action flick tho.

Farbod

Yay, you go fargoed again! xD I recommend "The fake fighting fantasy of Frank Dux" on Youtube for an entertaining deep dive into Dux's bullshido mastery.

Max Krause

Now... If we can get Cyborg reaction.... George would love it for the sci fi and Simone for the romance!!! lol

Logan Nelson

Would be an amazing follow up... Watching them react to the youtube docs... His nonsense is so wild... Drop your best youtube docs here and lets get them to do a patreon exclusive reaction!!!!! lol

Logan Nelson

And Lion Heart

MikeBdrx

This is not a “true story” Frank Dux is a serial liar and the more you look into him and the bullshit he’s claimed the funnier it gets. He is a total fucking fraud and I encourage you to watch as many youtube docs as possible about him.

djKENTO

I really enjoyed watching you guys getting "Fargo'd" during Bloodtrivia

beefjerkywizard

I think to continue the Van Damme vs Bolo trend you should definitely watch Double Impact. The acting is also top notch. Then you might as well watch Kickboxer, Time Cop, and Hard Target to flesh out your JCVD experience

beefjerkywizard

OK USA! I will watch and enjoy this now and it will save my f'ing terrible day!

Dioskur

Timecop is my favourite VD movie. The rest I'm indifferent to.

Odd Thomas

Also has Mia Sara from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

REDR58

That video game they played at the beginning is called "Karate Champ". Spent hundreds on that game in my youth .25 at at time. At one point, you got a chance to knock out a charging bull. So... totally realistic game.

Mastervodo

Frank Dux is a verified fraud. Not one claim he has ever made about his martial arts history is true, and I'm pretty sure all of his claims about his military service are also full of shit. Still, this is a really fun movie despite the fact that none of it actually happened.

Levi Curry

I watched this when I was 5 years old. My parents, siblings and cousins are really into martial arts films. Really enjoyed George's zingers, I was having a huge chuckle at that mentos joke. 😆 speaking of the sausage fest, there's also the possibility that the film has "a case of the not-gays" as the guys from Red Letter Media call it.

windyWin

There A LOT of coke snorted on the set!!!

Matthew Maxon

Of Van Damme’s staring roles, I think Timecop(1994) is the only must see.

Skyruff

Typical Cannon Group movie. Cheap, silly, and lots of fun.

Spacedone

Should check out Kickboxer, which was released the same year.

mike moake

Bit of fun trivia, Mortal Kombat was originally being developed as Bloodsport: The Game. After some minor issues with the licensing rights and getting Van Damme to agree to be in it, they were forced to change it. They kept the premise of an invitation only fighting tournament in which people die, and based the character of Johnny Cage DIRECTLY on Van Damme (Similar name, action star, accusations that he isn't a real martial artist, and the signature split punch), and introduced elements from one of their other favorite movies: Big Trouble in Little China.

Chase Lonnergan

To answer your question. It's 0%.

Kyle Baker

The amount of McDojo's (generic, non-accredited martial arts training institutions) this helped get opened was amazing. This, and the wave of martial arts movies that followed this, often starring Van Damme. Though, for my pick for a Van Damme movie, I'd probably say 'Hard Target' is the best, followed by 'Universal Soldier'. For martial arts movies from this era, my favourite is "The Ultimate Weapon", starring Jeff Speakman.

Mike FromOz

One of the reasons I like this channel is that George understands and can talk about things like the Kowloon Walled City.

Baron Imhoof

I hope this means more action movies on your way to the Expendables! You guys will absolutely love that series, very cheesy, and it's got all your favorite stars.

Ben Stevens

Indeed - the final text crawl is by someone who Did Not Do The Math. The Kumite is supposedly held once every 5 years, yet he supposedly fought 329 fights between '75 and '80, so... 2 tournaments? Let's say 3 just for grins. That's ~110 full contact fights in each tourney. Even winning every match you're going to take hits. Getting hit *once* by a professional fighter is no joke, yet he somehow managed 110 fights over the span of a couple of days? Oh and that's 55 fights each day, so in an 8 hour work day he had 7 fights an hour, or one full contact fight every 8.5 minutes. It's completely laughable... but makes for a fun movie. ;)

Tinfoilnation

I’m so happy! It’s Kumite day

MikeBdrx

It sucks that the real Frank Dux is a liar and none of this is real but at least the movie is enjoyable to watch

Stugotz

Timecop (1994). If you want that Van Damme splits action.

JediLounger

Heyy Luna!! :)

Guillaume Huet_rennibou

Hell yeah one of my childhood classics!!!!
