Chapter 63

Give me the king's treasure

(Internet issue is fixed, and exam just finished. I’ll try to make up now.)

(author: It's the Era of Rainbows... something that was once standard equipment.)

I think you already know, but we’re incredibly beautiful.

Us beautiful girls descended upon a brutal town in crisis, scattering divine light. Visually, it was only natural for it to be a moving sight. Their welcoming reaction was only to be expected.

But for angels──even the chief angel—to start crying.

Zaphkiel-san looked up at us, and in particular, when he saw Binah-sama, he seemed overcome with emotion and was weeping. Kneeling on one knee as if in repentance, he worshipped her form.

Seeing him like that, Binah-sama gave a troubled smile. From her expression, which is giving off older sister vibes, I could read her complex emotions.

『Zaphkiel, the angel who serves me the most, why are you crying?』

『Hah… I deeply apologize, Binah-sama… but I…! Ever since that day, I cannot resist my joy that you have removed your mask once again…!』

『…I see. I’ve caused you trouble, Zaphkiel. You’ve done well not to abandon me until now. In the name of the Sefirot of Understanding, I shall bless thou.』

『I am grateful for your kind words...!』

I see, so these are the feelings of a loyal vassal.

It seems you’ve been hiding your face for a long time, Binah-sama. Everyone who’s crying must be the holy beasts who knew her circumstances. On the other hand, the ones not crying seem bewildered after seeing her face.

『That’s… Binah-sama’s true face…?』

『How beautiful…』

『I’m so glad I was born on this island…』

『I will serve you for life.』

A few of the gentlemanly holy beasts honestly muttered their feelings.

I know that feeling… If the supreme wielder of power of the island you live on were such a beauty, anyone would get excited. Even mine would be.

What’s more, if they think her face is beautiful, then doesn’t that mean they’re indirectly praising my appearance, which resembles hers?

Fufun, that makes me shy.

When we first met, I worried about our characters overlapping too much, but this is unexpectedly a good things… This is what they call set business practice!

However, it’s also true that many were confused when comparing Binah-sama’s true face with my appearance.

Some of those who noticed me overlooking the town from the sky started sending me worshipping looks. No, I don't need that. Stop it. S-t-o-p.

『That person who looks exactly like Binah-sama…』

『Ten wings, like Keter-sama’s…?』

『That person… Could it be…!?』

Yes, yes! That’s the end of this story!

My "Charon Form" with ten angelic wings is an official archangel-approved form, so I won’t accept anyone pointing it out as plagiarism! End of discussion!

…Anyway, the state of the town seems more dire than I had expected.

Thanks to Binah-sama, we were able to clear the mist more than twice as fast as planned, but 30 minutes was more than enough time for the Abyss to cause enormous damage to the town.

Many of the buildings have collapsed, leaving it in an apocalyptic state.

I can sense the presence of the Abyss everywhere, and looking up, the sky is disgustingly swarmed by them.

It was overflowing with over hundreds of the Abyss the were mimicking elves, birdmen, and even angels.

This is… if feels like it’s been ages since I’ve went hyper original protagonist time.

『With my current power, I’ll end up involving everyone with me. I’ll leave this to you, Binah.』

『…! Yes, leave it to me!』

Using telepathic communication to ensure my words reached her, I flapped my ten wings and ascended into the sky.

I’ll leave the Abyss on the ground to her, while I’ll take care of the ones in the sky.

Memorable battle scenes tend to happen more easily during independent action.

Lately, there have been a lot of irregular events that have kept me on the defensive, but now, so this is a perfectly-tailored chance for me to go peerless original protagonist. The ability to take action in such situations without hesitation is the reason cheat-level original protagonists are cheat-level original protagonists.

I've always wanted to try jumping into an army of hundreds by myself. It's like being the peerless protagonist of a game.

──And so, disappear, Abyss! Take this! Stop bullying the angels and birdmen!

『!?』

『What…!?』

Since the number of warriors who could fly was limited, our allies in the sky are a bit disadvantaged.

That's where the cheat original protagonist comes in.

Using an extremely thick Eight-chan beam fired from my notebook, I turned about 20 Abyss with wings imitating the flight ability into charcoal.

Hyahha! (tl note: cry used by villains when they find someone weaker than themselves)

『What power…』

『Amazing…』

The gazes of the dumbfounded holy beast warriors who saw my overwhelming firepower feels so satisfying.

Good old basics*. No need for gravity-defying worship. I’ll be happy if people become surprised when they see me and sing my praises. (tl note: Hard to translate. Original is used as praise for a "return to simple basics" that eliminates unnecessary elements)

As my excitement grew, I made my Phantom Thief Notebook float using Telekinesis and fired Lightning Bolts imbued with dark power, “Dark Sparkling,” from both hands extended to my left and right.

After stealing the power of an angel, Chesed, my firepower now is incomparable to before. Just by flying around and unleashing Dark Sparkling, enemies in a vast range fell one after another, bursting and scattering.

Fu… I feel like a demon lord right now, and it’s really cool!

Using seemingly dark techniques while being on the side of justice is the peak of chuunibyou, don’t you think? I used to have passionate discussions about good old chuuni stylishness with YARANAIO’s wife, who shares the same hobby.

Fuhaha, be pierced by Dark Sparkling and pop! The Abyss will be distinguished!

Oh, some managed to get through… Is that an angel-mimicking Abyss? And it’s got four wings! This guy feels like a mid-boss. It looks strong.

However, unlike angels, it’s pitch black and not beautiful, and although it has two arms, its legs are simplified to one, like a chess piece.

It’s not a bad design as a grotesque-type enemy, but the fact that it half-assedly imitated an angel makes pretty creepy. Its original slimy form was way more charming and cute. Though either way, both of the things they do are nasty, so the level of danger remains the same.

Uwah, it’s shooting a beam!? That was close!

“…It’s imitating my techniques, too, huh.”

This angel-type Abyss transformed its right arm into something like a cannon and fired at me.

Although, its visuals don’t resemble an angel at all, it has a boorish, combat doll vibe, which is pretty cool. The Abyss, which largely served as stage props in Fairy Savers, has become considerably stronger in the new work.

However, Barrier! It won’t work. There's no way that degraded version of Eight-chan beam would work on the real deal.

The act of stealing techniques is something I can’t help but praise as the Supernatural Ability Phantom Thief. But in the end, it's just a rehash, not an opponent for the cheat original protagonist, says cocky Eight-chan.

"You chose the wrong opponent to imitate."

"......!"

However, leaving an enemy that’s capable of sniping as is is troublesome, so it's best to take them out quickly.

I used "Teleportation" to instantly move behind it and pressed finger guns with both hands against it’s back.

Here comes a new technique, “Explosive Heat Purification!”

This is a certain kill blow combining the supernatural ability "Explosive Heat," which heat ends the opponent upon touch and makes them explode, with the familiar "Purification" and Chesed’s angel powers.

The power of "Explosive Heat" is especially among the highest of all the supernatural abilities I have in stock, but because it only activates upon close contact, it inherently comes with the consequence of me being caught in the explosion. This alone makes it a peak supernatural ability where I have to constantly be ready for when I blow myself up.

With that how it is, it’s an ability that’s overflowing with romance, so it’s very cool. But I have always used it with the premise of "Compounding" it with other supernatural abilities, like when I previously enchanted a miniature "Dark Phoenix" to create something like a Kaiser Phoenix. As a compounding material, it's an incredibly easy to work with supernatural ability. Its downsides can be nullified depending on the combination.

And the synergy with "Purification" that it’s combined with this time is pretty good.

First, I make contact with my finger, heat end occurs, and the Abyss dies. At this point, I'd originally also hurt myself from the point-blank explosion, but by using the light-infused Chesed power to "Purify" the shock wave and heat spreading from the explosion, the explosion itself transforms into a sparkling, fluttering effect akin to snowfall.

The power remains the same, but the attack range and effect become very gentle. In other words, it's like a "Purification" with the destructive power of "Explosive Heat." Not only does it look lovely, but being able to avoid self-harm makes it highly practical. I’m quite pleased with it.

"Return to the abyss."

"AhH…"

Okay, annihilation confirmed.

If you look from the outside, it would look like the Abyss was enveloped by faint light and disappeared the moment I touched it.

In reality, a regular explosion would be more flashy, but everything needs tempo. If you keep firing off flashy techniques one after another, the viewers will get bored. It's precisely because you mix in some subdued techniques that the flashy look nice.

Also, simply put, this way your vision won't be blocked by smoke from explosions, which makes it easier to fight when you're surrounded by a large number of enemies. And that's exactly the situation I'm in right now.

“...You’ve done well to come this far.”

When I dealt with the mid-boss angel-type Abyss, the enemies, including ones of the same type, press their attack, giving me no time to take a breath. They seem to be focusing on going after me. I guess this proves that Eight-chan is popular even with the Abyss. Yare yare.

I don’t know about the Qlippoth, but the majority of Abyss lack intelligence, so they neither fear nor get intimidated.

But unfortunately for them, this is where they stop. The reason is, yes, because the cheat original protagonist, me, is here.

Alright, this time, I’ll go with something very cheesy.

"This is as far as you can go. Begone!"

Holding my Phantom Thief Notebook and raising it high, a ring of light forming the letter "O" appears above my head.

The halo rose, doubling, then tripling in size every second, until it became about ten meters in diameter, at which point it came to a standstill.

And in the next moment, a dark void appeared in the center of the O shaped-halo, swirling with an ominous vortex.

Yes, this is Eight-chan’s new certain kill move──

"Dance, Waltz of Light and Darkness!"

This technique creates a divine ring like that of angels in mythology, while creating an ominous dark void within it, and from it, countless swords shoot out in rapid succession──This is the Waltz of Light and Darkness. The word "waltz" just sounds cool, doesn't it?

Among my techniques, this is my flashiest attack, developed to deal with large numbers of the Abyss. The number of abilities I compounded for this is the highest by a huge margin. I put "Curse of Darkness" and Chesed Power into it, of course, but also frequently used abilities like "Telekinesis" and "Item Box."

What was particularly difficult was adjusting the balance to get the perfect distribution of Chesed-kun's light powers and the “Curse of Darkness”’s dark powers. While the power wouldn't actually change much, with light and darkness, I couldn’t have one strong and the other weak.

Right now, I’m light and darkness combined, which makes me look the strongest; I am Charon Form Eight-chan. For this very reason, the certain kill move I wield in this form also needed to match its appearance, a perfect blend of both light and darkness in equal distribution.

Incidentally, the countless swords being fired are crafted by condensing “Lightning Bolt.”

When it comes to refining their appearance, I of course used Chesed Power and the “Curse of Darkness,” resulting in a satisfactory design where light and darkness beautifully intermingle.

These swords pierce their targets all at once.

Hundreds of them head toward the Abyss army.

With sheer overwhelming numbers that even surpassed theirs, the countless swords rush toward the enemy.

The swords of light and darkness, based on Lightning Bolt, was also compounded with the Explosive Heat Purification supernatural abilities I had used earlier, so the moment the points of the swords pierced them, the Abyss scattered in a dazzling effect and vanished. Goodbye.

For the mid-boss angel-type Abysses, who were nimbly running around trying to escape, I secretly used “Telekinesis” to remotely control the swords, manually tracking them down and shooting them down carefully.

It was, indeed, a one-sided massacre befitting the name of a cheat original protagonist.

...Yeah, I’m starting to feel a bit sorry for the Abysses. I’m the one who did this, though.

However, as an original protagonist’s certain kill move, it cannot be omitted. The certain kill move of shooting off countless swords from a mysterious gate*! Many cheat original protagonists in the past have used this technique, and I wanted to try it with the abilities I have in stock. (tl note: Gilgamesh from fate)

In practice, the feeling of overwhelming your enemy was incredible. Without taking a single step, I wiped out hundreds of enemies, and right now, I look, modestly speaking, like a king.

Of course, even though I didn’t move from my spot, I still had to control the swords with telekinesis to avoid accidentally hitting allies, so I didn’t have the luxury of folding my arms and leaning my back.

Still, the power was immense. Visually, it was very flashy and extremely cool.

If I have to give a downside, it’s that the battle was so one-sided it made me feel guilty.

Sure, I’m an invincible cheat original protagonist, but... you know?

I worked hard to create this technique, which involves watching your opponents die while looking down from somewhere elevated, but when I actually tried using it, how do I say this, I felt like it just wasn't for me. Maybe this is the last time I’ll use it… The energy consumption is bad either.

This kind of technique is probably an ability that’s best suited for an always pompous and genuinely powerful king. Since I’m a humble cheat original protagonist, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of difference in views with my own technique.

"...I'm sorry."

I’m sorry for doing whatever I want.

Creating a certain kill move was tough. But it felt really good.

With a sense of accomplishment, I exhaled deeply and closed the pages of the Phantom Thief Notebook that was open in my right hand.

At that moment, the massive halo that had been generating infinite swords of light and darkness vanished, and the Abyss in the sky also disappeared completely.

Wow, what a beautiful sky.

Now that the danger had passed, I removed my silk hat, held Kabbalah-chan, who had been hiding inside, in my arms, and smiled as our eyes meet.

Ah, I wonder how things are on the ground... Whoa, Binah-sama is amazing. Light spread across the entire ground, and I could see what looked like a giant geoglyph with a cross carved into it. (tl note: geoglyph means drawing on the ground)

What is that? Let me use Search──Ahh, that’s Binah-sama’s holy technique. I see... That light is detoxifying the people on the ground, just like my Purification.

I’m sorry for being the only one to get carried away.

To everyone there too.

──Hello, this has been TP Eight Olishua.

With a bow to my allies, the holy beasts, who were staring at me with dumbfounded expressions, I announced the end of my waltz. Clap, clap.

...Now then, I guess I’ll head over to the Savers next.

There are still enemies remaining.

In the town below, there’s only one enemy whose might is exceptional.

However.

When I used “Clairvoyance” to confirm it, I involuntarily caught my breath.

Because the Abyss’s form was one I had seen just a short while ago. It was the same one I seen on the television in Charon-sama’s place.

Kaitzul’s fragment──the one that Angel Raphael had supposedly defeated.

“...Tsubasa…”

Faced with such an enemy, Kazaoka Tsubasa, as expected, was fighting with his anger fully on display.

Even I, a fan of Fairy Savers myself, can't help but think, "I've never seen him like this before," when he has such a sorrowful expression on his face.

"Do your best, Tsubasa. Fight."

For now, I’ve limited myself to just cheer for him silently in my heart.

Somehow, I felt it wasn't the right time to go out and assist him.

And so, I decided to watch over his battle, praying with my hands clasped together, as if witnessing the true conclusion of the anime I had seen at Charon-sama's place.

And then──

(author: I may be being persistent, but I have to talk about it…

I created a Twitter account to check what the cover illustration was like, and this…

turned out far more exquisite than I had imagined, and I couldn't help but laugh. This level of visibility is pure genius... Truly, thank you very much again and again.)
