Melon actually takes blood and organs off the Black Market/Silk Road and donates them to hospitals and blood banks. At first the staff found this incredibly unnerving, but they're used to it by now.

As for non-chassis body parts, those can be manufactured (like joint replacements can for humans) but there probably are some that get donated/reclaimed from bodies too badly damaged to use, like the half chassis we once saw in Union Robotics whose owner lost a "very ill-advised" bet.
enchantedsleeper
2025-02-06 10:00:10 +0000 UTC
@Ursus Those are very valid worldbuilding questions to be asking!
We do know that old chassis get donated because Winslow mentioned his old body was intended to be going to charity (that was when Pintsize installed the "ass zombie" app on it xD), which makes sense considering how much they cost new. However, they probably don't get top-of-the-line (or even middle-of-the-line) fully humanoid models donated a lot, because May wasn't able to get hold of anything better than the junk she was housed in for way too long. Which makes me wonder if there's a thriving second-hand market for bodies. There must be, if old humanoid bodies aren't being donated - I mean, what happened to Momo's old one when she became Tall Momo? Enquiring minds need to know! But it seems reasonable that people would want to recoup some of the costs of the new body because again, they're expensive.
Then again, you've also got Pintsize buying his chassis from Internet Jerry - maybe THAT's where all the second-hand ones go xD
