Or squishy. If it has more than 4 legs, it’s a bug, especially those nasty underwater big handed cockroaches people eat

We have an agreement. They stay out of my way, and they get to live. Same for spiders, but if they web anywhere I walk, they’re getting evicted.

I don't know if the Australian centipedes are deadly venomous, but if it's the same kind that's endemic in Hawaii, Southern Polynesia, and Southeast Asia, the bite is excruciatingly painful, and the bites tend to get nasty infections too.

One of the earliest naturalists on Australian TV was notorious for grabbing all sorts of dangerous wildlife and hauling them up in front of the camera, but in one episode he filmed a centipede bustling past and said something to the effect of "OK, we'll just leave him alone" and I wondered what kind of killing machine that must have been that even this maniac didn't want to touch it.

Huh, in Swedish we just say “half wings” about Hemiptera, but then we don’t really use the word bugs like English do. Maybe “insekter”/insects or the slang “kryp” (translates to crawlers or creeps) is mostly used similar to the term bug.

Yeah nah, I get that some people find them cute, and that they're technically helpful (thus "paying rent" as I like to say in response to people who say they don't let spiders hang around because they "don't pay rent") in that they eat other bugs like earwigs and boxelders (both are rather common at this time of year where I live, especially this year) but goddamn they're creepy to me, I can't stand them.
This year is the first time I've run into them firsthand, and I was *not* fond of the first time it happened, or the fact that they're so much faster than the other house bugs I usually have to get rid of...
