But Is He In-Network?

training for marten's future barista job

But Is He In-Network?

Comments

@Todd Ellner The QC-verse doesn't have generative AI because they have the real sort.

enchantedsleeper

In a way, I think even being friends (with benefits) would be a step up for Sven. As opposed to, you know, one-night stand or hatefuck booty call.

enchantedsleeper

I don't think that May is interested in a deeper than FWB relationship (which it seems sven wants). That being said, they seemed to get along great and she was really good at puncturing his ego

Travis Young

Growth is good

Sparky

Have I told you how much I/We appreciate your lore knowledge Well, I am telling you now

dcy665 .

Let's hope it's not Moray

Bagge

dang i need an executive functioning coach

Jennifer Pylko

looks like a long word followed by 2 short words, my guess is "prehistoric bird beer"

Jennifer Pylko

But what about Yay and Moray? Wrap it up, Sven!

Hal Shipman

I tried.

Yelling Bird

A smooth drinking session beer which wont let you get Jurassicked

Dustin Wilson

"Approved by therapists since prehistoric times."

Summer

Get Rexed!

Amelia Lewis

I really want to know what the additional is text on the Cretaceous IPA poster.

Cameron W.

They end up making a more chill version of Yay...

David Paul

I wish I didn't know so much about the US that I understand the title.

Carsten Schultz

See, Marten. That's why YOU should sell the beverage. Ice coffee and chill talks. You'll be rich!

Bagge

Actually it was her breakup with Angus that started Faye on the downward spiral that ended in hospitalization. In fact she got over the breakup with Sven fairly quickly, certainly more quickly than he did. He was pretty much pining over her right up until he met May (like, literally the panel before). https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4003

BookBeard

Has Sven ever really gotten over what he did to Faye? He seems to have been miserable and mopey ever since then. It also seems to have been what started Faye's slide down into her serious alcoholic episode.

Gamebook

How are you feeling Jeph?

Jeffrey Anderson

Gotta say, first time I've ever heard "you'd want the dinosaurs to be diabetic" in any context, and it is WILD

Sarah Valentine

Couldn't've been an easy gig. Thank you for your service, & helping make the world a little better.

Pejo

ELE beers are great, but the hangover feels like you got hit by an asteroid...

BookBeard

You'd want the dinosaurs to be diabetic for there to be any significant level of sugar in it to ferment!

Mark

Well yeah, it's an American beer.

Nulgar

Plot twist: Cretaceous IPA is just dinosaur urine. Deeply fermented.

legobil

If marten could become an executive functioning coach, his skills would be in high demand

Davus Otho

Forget the coffee shop, open a "life coach" consultancy

Uniquitous

Cretaceous is one of 3 beers released by ELE (Extinction Level Event) Brewing, the other 2 being Triassic Wheat and Jurassic Stout

Not that Patrick Foltz

I actually worked diagnostics at a juvenile detention facility. Yeah, I'm amazed they hired me too.

Yelling Bird

/krɪˈteɪʃəs/

Not that Patrick Foltz

But all your advice involved cloaca

Todd Ellner

Brewing IPAs before it was cool! (by "it" we mean "the ice age")

BookBeard

@BookBeard what is the price of Good Advice at COD?

Not that Patrick Foltz

Triassip!

Todd Ellner

Interstitial Pangaeic Ale

Todd Ellner

So that generative AI can copy him?

Todd Ellner

Does Cubetown have a licensed anything?

Not that Patrick Foltz

My Dad used to own a liquor store, yes, beer is definitely a form of payment. And whisky, and wine. It was rarely the good stuff either, I guess that says something about the kind of people that will fix your AC for Milwaukee's Best, your books for Jim Beam, or clean your carpets for Franzia.

Not that Patrick Foltz

The best I could manage today was a "Cretinous Bitters."

kaitou

The ever deepening V! Will it reach his navel?

Not that Patrick Foltz

Nah, 90% of being a therapist is telling a person everyone else in their life is telling them already, only charging them for it so that the pain of paying to hear it from a professional motivates you to fix yourself.

Elf Sternberg

"Get Fossilized!"

William Cole

"It's what REALLY killed the dinosaurs!}

William Cole

Just set up a Lucy van Pelt-style therapy stand. Instant $$$$$!

William Cole

New Yelling Bird lore just dropped and I’m here to learn more about the enigmatic avian.

Chauncey

Some of us take longer to grow up than others.

Pete

they can technically study Marten even if he's just a complete rando with no abilities it'd just be WEIRD and a particularly convoluted hypothesis

Minzoku Bokumetsu

Hard to say. She hasn't mentioned it since shortly after her near death experience, but that doesn't mean she hasn't still been going in the background. https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2895

BookBeard

It's only been three years?!?! Yeah, we need a timeskip. The audience is aging out.

darklion

I remember my late husband telling me he paid the football team beer to move flats for his college's theatre. (It was a residential college theatre rather than the University one, and they used the dining hall for shows.)

jonesnori

That can be very therapeutic

T.

Mine is "So good you'll mistake it for Jurrasic."

Hexagonal Crank

In #144 Dora is 26. Sven is two years older. Aside from that, someone else (dedicated and meticulous) made this online spreadsheet which is useful but doesn't make any promises it can't prove: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wqTgvVxV0GE1EoKnR0pxVChHUo4ZYtal/edit#gid=2000794116

ValdVin

He was 28 way back in #1782, but that was probably at least a year or two ago in-universe. https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1782

BookBeard

Is this a CoD trade secret, along with spidercoffee? I mean, Dora's probably gonna let Marten use them gratis, but still I don't want Tom Horbon's getting their hands on it.

ValdVin

I can see it now. Therapist office above the coffee shop, drawing in unsuspecting clients with his chill-dude barista vibes. Then it's all "the first one is free" and he hands over the business card: "Marten Reed, Stealth Therapist"

BookBeard

I used to be a therapist. I'm not kidding.

Yelling Bird

It just feels like Sven is too old for this. But I don't even know how old anyone is anymore.

darklion

So good you'll wish your arms were long enough to drink it!

BookBeard

Marten is definitely going to have to implement CoD's "barista heart-to-heart" policy. https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4681

BookBeard

Does blowing shit up count?

Shawn K. Younkin

Hmmm. Peanut gallery? Could we get a tag-line for Cretaceous IPA, please?

Hexagonal Crank

A brew so old Tyrannosaurus were drinking it.

Andrea Andrew

Probably wouldn't be that hard to get a degree in social work at Cubetown.

Adam with two As, a D, and an M

Ngl feelin pretty thirsty for a Cretaceous IPA right about now

Azrux

This further reaffirms my belief that Marten should, in fact, become a therapist. It is the single best application of his ability to attract misfits and outcasts and make them feel accepted, and it makes use of his biggest superpower, which is being chill and nonjudgemental to a fault. (But as someone who is studying to become a therapist myself, I am biased lol)

Adarsh Nednur

I will regularly give a coworker beer to help with Linux issues

FuzzyDragon Cosplay

I could drive my micro-brew snob friend nuts with one I bet.

Doc Gumby

I want Cretaceous IPA

Matthew Delahaye

Yes, Marten, you really should!

Doc Gumby

new artisanal 'Free Advice' 5.5% IPA

Simon Green

Have to admit, still shipping him with May.

Leaflemming

I'm ready for "Cretaceous IPA" T-shirts now, Jeph

Chelsea

As someone who regularly has to reset my stepmom's computer's search engine, I can confirm.

ValdVin

Which reminds me, is Faye still seeing a therapist? What Faye has been through will take a near lifetime – at least a decade – to recover from.

Miyaa

Sven seems to be a terrible patient.

Tannerbot

Great, another millionaire parasite dumping his troubles on the working man for free!

Shawn K. Younkin

Does Cubetown have a licensed therapist? 🤔

Miyaa

In some circles, beer is a widely accepted form of payment.

FuzzyDragon Cosplay

Oh my sweet demon lord can y’all imagine if Marten’s ability to attract oddballs and have them spill their guts out to him is something Cubetown can study

AlexKorobeiniki

Out-of-network but in-style

Wynn Donivan

Better be fancy beer for that quality of insight

Michael

This is giving me big Faye: "Imagine how good you'd feel seeing a licensed professional!" vibes.
