2024-05-08 11:06:28 +0000 UTCNah, that's what happens if you wrap a bight of rope the 'usual' way, tuck the loose ends through the loops of one end, then slide the 'cylinder' down to keep the ends in place. E.g.: https://imgur.com/a/FxGPhDj It's not a great way to store rope, but it's not impossible and it's uncommon, but not unheard of.

So it seems like if anything, the coils go *right up to the bottom* of the outer wraps, but then that would slip off with any jostling.
