My Dad Is The Strongest?: Ch.23

“Yeah, we were attacked by some Grade 1 spirits and when we took them out, we found that someone had taken her.”
“Did anyone see who it was?! Did they get a description or something?”
“No, nothing. It was like she was in her room one moment and gone the next,” Mai said over the phone, Killua hearing the nervous tone she had as well as the sound of his grandfather barking out orders.
“Okay, listen. Our mission is done so I'm coming back and then I'll help you guys look.”
“O-Okay, I'll tell your grandfather. See you when you get back,” Mai greeted before the call ended, Killua's hands trembling for a second before he pocketed the phone and took a deep breath.
“Killua? Is something wrong”, Miwa asked, looking concerned as she had never seen the confident boy looking this shaken, but Killua didn't answer immediately as he stood silently with his fists clenched.
“Someone…someone kidnapped my mom,” He finally spoke, the sound of static electricity accompanying his voice as sparks surged at his feet. Miwa gasped at his words while Mechamaru stood silently, wariness settling in when the puppet saw electricity arc from Killua's mouth with each breath.
“What?! Who?!”
“No one knows. It was an instant attack, but since Mai didn't sound devastated, I think no lives were lost, which means that they were deliberately looking for her,” Killua said with a frown, his eyes narrowing as he began to wonder just who would want his mother.
'It's definitely the one who gave her the curse, but then…if that's the case, then Dad will most definitely hear about other people that got kidnapped. Wait, Megumi!', His eyes widened slightly as he quickly pulled his phone out, but he cursed when he saw it sparking as his cursed energy had unintentionally short-circuited its systems.
“Damnit! Come on, we're heading back.”
“Right!/ Very well,” Miwa and Mechamaru answered respectively, the three of them walking out of the warehouse and making their way back to the car.
'Whoever did this…I'm going to kill them,' Killua growled as his cursed energy began to affect their surroundings, Miwa and Mechamaru looking wary as electricity began to ripple from his body while metallic objects all around them sparked.
“Killua. If this was a planned kidnapping, then we are to assume that the others you and your father talked of are also in danger.”
“Yes, they a-”, Killua stopped in his tracks as he processed the words, Miwa blinking as the boy slowly turned to the puppet with a frown.
“Say that again.”
“…The others you and your father talked of are also in danger.”
“I never talked about that with anyone about that other than Todo and the adults and I know Todo wouldn't tell you. He'd die before betraying the trust of a comrade.”
“You have mentioned the markings when-”
“No, I told you guys that the markings were to be kept secret and that it was made by a Special Grade Curse or Curse User. I never told anyone about there being multiple markings on other people,” Killua interrupted, taking a slow step forward while Miwa rested her hand on her katana and her eyes widened.
“Mechamaru, is there something you want to say?”, Miwa asked, shifting into her stance while watching as the puppet stayed quiet.
“Mechamaru. I'll ask again. How did you know?”, Killua asked once more, his gaze now sharp as the sound of electricity in the air sparked. Silence reigned in the air as the puppet just looked at them before it let out a sigh
“You are right. You never said it directly,” Mechamaru spoke, his voice having a tone of cold resignation.
“Then how?”
“…I can't.”
“Can't or won't?”, Killua asked, stepping forward and watching as Mechamaru took a step back while Miwa's eyes widened as the puppet aimed his palm at the boy.
“I can't.”
“…You're either foolish or cautious and considering how cautious you are, I'm guessing their either have something on you or did something to you to make sure you didn't talk.”
“A Binding Vow,” Miwa murmured, drawing Killua's attention before he quickly shifted to the side as a plasma beam narrowly missed his body.
Instinctively, his body shot forward, punching right through Mechamaru's chest and ripping out his core while jumping back as the puppet tried to swing at him.
However, his eyes widened as the core flared, quickly throwing it away and Miwa squeaked as the boy picked her up before running away as fast as he could.
The core detonated with a shriek, cursed energy violently destroying the abandoned buildings around them while Killua slid to a stop right at the entrance that led to the warehouse system.
“Is…is he dead?”, Miwa asked as Killua put her down, trying to catch her breath from the rapid change in environment while Killua shook his head.
“No, that was a decoy puppet. The real Mechamaru is probably hidden away while he had puppets watching us.”
“W-Why, though? Why would he-”
“He tried to kill us to make sure we didn't tell anyone. He was blackmailed before, but I think he's already chosen his side,” Killua growled as he turned and began walking to where their manager for the mission was waiting, Miwa looking distraught as she turned and followed after Killua.
“We have to report this to the principal and-”
“No, Gakuganji was the one who insisted I be on this mission. Utahime-sensei and my dad are the only ones that we can trust right now. For now, contact the mission manager and tell him what happened.”
'What did they promise you, Mechamaru? Was it a new body? A new beginning…or did you betray everyone long before I even met you all?'
“And about Mechamaru?”, Miwa asked and Killua glanced back at the flames before shaking his head.
“It's too late. Mechamaru is now a Curse User.”

'At least no one did die,' Killua thought with a frown as he stared at the Gojo Clan compound, watching as clan members walked to and fro to survey the damage while his grandpa stood beside him.
“I don't know how this was possible. The person managed to sneak through our barrier, unleash spirits at the heart of our compound and then take your mother while we were fighting against the spirits.”
“How many were there.”
“At least 30 spirits. Most were a Grade 2 spirit, but there were a few Semi-Grade 1 and Grade 1 spirits among them.”
“And this person? Did no one really catch an eye of them?”
“No one, which is worrying to say the least if someone can sneak into our defences and get out before we even notice.”
“I know and just after our only lead blew up his puppet and vanished from the face of the planet. If I had just stayed quiet…No, that wouldn't have mattered. He would have still blown himself up and disappeared.”
“That is true, yes. Unfortunately, it appears our opponent was just too powerful this time,” Gintoki murmured with a sigh, shaking his head while Killua turned his head when Mai and Kanade walked up to them.
“Anything?”, Killua asked, feeling a bit hopeful, but he already knew the answer when Kanade sighed while Mai shook her head.
“We've lost every sign of whoever did it. No residue, no physical traces. It's like they did not even exist,” Mai grumbled as she stood beside Killua, who patted her on the back before looking at his grandmother as she looked at him.
“Are you going to be okay?”
“Honestly? Not at all, but I will be once I get her back,” Killua muttered as he stared at the compound, the cursed energy residue making him frown before he spun around as the air was displaced.
However, he relaxed at the sight of his dad standing behind them, Kanade walking over to her son who looked around before looking at them.
“I came as soon as I got Gintoki's message,” Satoru spoke with a frown as he walked up to the group, Gintoki nodding while Killua shook his head as his dad looked to him.
“You doing okay?”
“As good as I can. Are you?”
“I figured it was bad when you said that you couldn't sense or see any residue.”
“Can you?”, Killua asked and Satoru stayed silent as he knelt on the ground while looking at it.
“…No, it's the same as it is every other time. They've covered their tracks entirely and what residue I can see is from the spirits, not the mastermind themselves.”
“Killua thinks that Hina was targeted because of the mark on her forehead.”
“He would be correct. Most of the others have been taken as well.”
“How many?”
“All but 3 of them. One of the ones still left is Tsukimi because I moved her to a private hospital off the records.”
“Hah, that's what I expected. How's Megumi holding up?”
“As good as he can with the news that his sister was almost kidnapped. How goes your investigation?”, Satoru asked before frowning slightly as Killua sighed while the others decided to leave the two.
“Killua?”
“He…was the mole and I'm starting to think that Gakuganji might be one too. We were out on a mission today and I think he faltered in his wording, because he revealed that he knew about the other marked people.”
“If you believe Gakuganji is involved and you can prove it, then this goes far deeper than we thought. That would not just be a security breach, but a full rot from within,” Satoru spoke with a dark look in his eyes, standing up as Killua nodded while crossing his arms.
“It would also explain how they were able to know when to attack the compound when I'm not here.”
“And whether Hina would be in a private hospital or on the compound. We may have to resort to unpleasant methods to find out where your mother is.”
“Such as?”, Killua asked and Satoru hummed as he looked at the compound that was slowly retaining order.
“Torturous interrogation for one.”
“…And?”
“Killing,” Satoru spoke as he looked at Killua, only to be surprised as the boy smirked and nodded.
“If it's to get Mom back, I can live with that.”
'I did not care for killing in my past life and I most certainly am not going to start caring now,' Killua was still a Zoldyck at heart even if he was in a new body with a new.
After all, his old family's number one rule is one he still tries his best to live by: Not witnesses.
“You…sure you can do that?”, Satoru asked and smirked as Killua scoffed and nodded.
“Like I said, anything and everything is permitted to get back Mom. Now, where do we start?”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lightning rumbled in the skies above Kyoto, dark clouds covering the city sky while its occupants went about their business.
All but a few, that is, as Curse Users were trying their best to run away of the biggest threat in the city that was currently hot on their trail.
They weren't even doing anything illegal. It was just a simple fight club made for sorcerers and all of a sudden, it was as if the god of lightning himself had came through the window.
The figure wasn't even visible as their entire body was obscured by bright white lightning, their voice booming and echoing in the room as a pair of sky-blue eyes locked onto their forms.
“Bring me Hajiki Tsururu and his goons,” Hajiki did not know what sorcerer he pissed off and he didn't stay around to find out as he had ran away as fast as he could, his goons right behind him.
“What the hell is that, boss?”
“I don't know, but run!”
“Run where?”, The sparking figure asked as he stood at the entrance of the alleyway, Hajiki and his men coming to a fearful stop before turning around only to freeze at the figure standing right in front of him.
They held their breath as the figure slowly looked between them, slowly focusing his gaze back on Hajiki while reaching into its chest and taking out…a picture?
Hajiki was a bit bewildered at the picture that was divided into two, one side having the picture of a rather beautiful white-haired woman while the other was a rough drawing of a woman with black hair and stitches on her forehead.
“Have you seen either of these two women?”
“N-No,” Hajiki answered, watching as the figure stared at him before putting the picture back in their chest with a hum.
“Are you lying?”
“N-Never. I know I can't do shit against you.”
“…Good,” The figure muttered before Hajiki wheezed as a burning pain erupted in the back of his head, his eyes rolling back while watching as the lightning vanished from the figure to reveal a young boy standing there.
“Damn, thought I had this one. Guess that's Hajiki off the list. Hey, you guys mind taking your boss back?”, Killua asked as he scratched Hajiki's name off a list of names that he wrote on a paper, most of them already scrapped off.
Not surprised when one of the guys looked at the other, Killua vanished right as one pulled out a gun before reappearing behind the group, making his way back into traffic right as the group fell to the floor with bruises at the back of their neck.
'Was that too rough? Eh, they'll live. More importantly, that's the fourth Grade 2 Curse User in Kyoto in the past week. Is there something going on?', Killua thought as he folded his list back up and put it away, placing his hands in the pockets of his shorts.
Soft whistling came from his lips as he took a stroll through the streets, his electric cursed energy forming a sparking forcefield around his body and evaporating every droplet that touched him.
'It's been two months since Dad and I decided to look for Mom and we still have no clue as to where Mom went,' Killua thought as he walked through the streets, drawing strange looks thanks to his outfit in the rain while the boy thought of his next move.
The list of names were what he got from the first guy they found and interrogated and Killua was sure he had made his dad worry in some way considering how easily he made that guy squeal.
It was not his fault that he had to put up with years of torture and knows how to inflict said pain onto others. One should blame his psychopathic family in his past life for that.
Back to the subject at question, that was not the only thing that they got from him as he also told them of the woman with stitches across her forehead, which coincidentally looked like the skull with stitches they had found on the tree.
Considering how terrified the firs guy looked when he told Killua and his dad about it, the boy had to guess that the woman was actually the mastermind, but the only issue was the fact that the woman didn't give the guy a name.
The only thing they knew was that the woman was skilful enough to dismiss the Gojo family barriers and most likely the barriers of the other Sorcerer families, meaning that she was at least a Grade 1 sorcerer.
'Hah, this thing just get more and more chaotic by the second,' Killua thought before blinking as he heard his phone ringing, reaching into his jacket and pulling out the phone while walking into a cafe.
“Hey, this is Killua.”
“Killua, it's me,” His dad spoke from the other side and Killua furrowed his brow when he heard the tired tone in the man's voice.
“Hey, dad. What's up?”
“How close are you to Kyoto right now?”
“I'm currently at that cafe we like. Why? What's up?”
“Well, you remember my old acquaintance Suguru Geto?”, His dad asked and Killua frowned before he answered.
“I do. Why do you ask?”
“Well, he just declared war on Jujutsu society. I have Nanami and Mei-Mei covering Kyoto, but I'm going to need you at Tokyo Tech asap.”
“How soon is asap?”, Killua asked even as he stood up from the table, shaking his head at the waitress while walking back out and into an alleyway.
“Can you get here in the next five hours?”
“Easily,” Killua answered as electricity sparked around his feet, hearing his dad chuckling as the boy crouched down.
“Great. See you soon,” Satoru greeted before shutting the call off, Killua putting his phone away before his entire body sparked with potent electricity.
“Speed of Lightning: Maximum Output- Godlike Speed!”, The ground erupted as Killua shot forward, his body a streak of lightning as he raced through the streets and out of Kyoto in just a few minutes.
His next stop? Tokyo.
