The Monke King: Ch.31
Added 2025-05-30 07:42:38 +0000 UTC“You are aware that your father took months to learn the techniques that you wish to learn within a week's time, yes?”
“I do, but I'm more skilled than my father was when he came to train,” I answered with a smirk and King Kai hummed before looking to Videl and Erasa who were busy marvelling at the sight of the Other World.
“What about the hot chicks?”
“These are my girlfriends as you know, King Kai, and I wished for them to undergo the same training that I do.”
“Sure, but do they want to do the training?”, He asked, the question specifically aimed at them as Videl nodded while Erasa blinked before shrugging.
“Pretty much, yeah. If not, we'd have to let Gohan take them on his own and I'd rather not have our boyfriend overestimate himself.”
“Since when do I overestimate myself?”
“Since we've met you. You're just ever so slightly cocky,” Erasa answered and I rolled my eyes as Videl smirked and nodded in agreement.
“That and you would sacrifice yourself to take out the enemies if it means everyone else gets to leave so we want to make sure that you don't do that.”
“Of course. So, think you can train us?”
“Eh, don't worry about it, Gohan. I'm sure you'd figure it out within just a few tries,” Krillin spoke up with a grin and I smiled softly as I saw the bald monk walking closer along with the taller three-eyed Tien.
However, I blinked as I didn't see Yamcha and Chiaotzu, looking around which Tien noted as he smiled and shook his head.
“Since the world became peaceful, Yamcha and Chiaotzu decided to pass on to their next life.”
“And you two?”
“Eh, I kinda can't until I'm sure that the world can go on without me and Tien just doesn't know how to give up training,” Krillin spoke with a grin, nudging Tien in the side while I smiled as the Triclops rolled his eyes.
“Someone has to keep the torch burning. Besides, being dead means that I have no need for sustenance and sleep which means more time for training.”
“Sounds fun.”
“Of course you would think that,” Erasa spoke with a teasing smile and I rolled my eyes while Videl looked to King Kai with a curious gaze.
“So, how exactly are we doing this? I assume it's not just ki blasts, meditation and push-ups, yes?”
“Not in the slightest. Seeing as you three have trained extensively under the Yardrat race in Spirit Control, I believe that your spirits have gotten used to being used to amplify the body. Now, we must push your body's tolerance to ki amplification. That is for Gohan. For the ladies…”, He trailed off as he looked to the two of them before I watched as he nodded and turned to the two humans.
“You two are in charge of them and don't hold back. If they break, they break or they learn to endure it.”
“Got it. I'll take Videl. She seems to be the more serious of the two,” Tien spoke up and Videl bowed her head while Erasa giggled as she patted Krillin's head.
“Guess you're stuck with the cheerful one, eh? Think you could teach me to throw a glowing punch of doom like Gohan?”
“…Can we switch?”, Krillin asked Tien, who snorted while Videl looked amused at Erasa's huff and I looked to King Kai.
“You're not going to make me chase around Bubbles and Gregory, right? Dad told me about that and we both know-”
“It would be utterly useless since you'd catch them in a few seconds. No, like I said, you've learned to push your spirit, but now we must go back to the basics and push your body beyond its limits.”
“Also, no funny business while you're here. You're here for training and just that so Videl, you and I are going to the right of the planet.”
“And we're going to the east,” Krillin spoke with a grin while I waved at the girls as they got escorted to their respective sides of the planets before I wheezed as I felt my body becoming extremely heavy.
Catching my footing while gritting my teeth as I looked down, I stared at the thick weights around my limbs and chest before looking back at King Kai with a strained smile as he spoke.
“Good ol' basic weighted training. When you get used to it, I'll double the weight. Right now, it's only about a couple of tons each, but soon that weight will make it feel like your limbs is getting torn off and that's a good thing. Also, no using transformations to try and make it easier.”
“G-Got it.”
“Good. Now, go through your bojutsu katas with your new staff. After all, you need to get used to using it,” King Kai spoke as he turned and walked back into the building and I nodded slowly while slowly straining my arm to pull out the miniature staff from my ear.
With a thought, the staff extended to its original size before I took a deep breath, struggling a lot to even twirl it before I wheezed as it hit me between the legs and I fell to my knees.
“F-Fuck.”
“Never said this was going to be easy!”, King Kai's voice came from inside the home and I ignored his laughter as I slowly stood up.
'This is what it means to be a true Saiyan, Gohan. You're not focused on your rage or your pride. Instead, you are nothing but discipline and purpose,' I thought as I flexed my tail before gritting my teeth as I felt a weight appearing at the end of it as well, glaring at King Kai who looked through his window with a sly grin.
Turning away from the god, I slowly began to twirl the staff again, this time taking my time and moving slowly through it while taking deep breaths with each one.
“Alright, alright. Find the rhythm and learn the balance.”

“What are we training?”, Videl asked as the two of them walked further from the only building on the small asteroid/ moon, to which Tien hummed as they stopped in a small forest and he turned to her.
“Fighting is not merely just about power. You need to have awareness, precision and most importantly, timing.”
“I think I have most of them down. I have been training and fighting under my father, who is a world champion, since I was eight.”
“And I've been dead for thirteen years yet I still train every day. What's your point?”, He asked, smirking as Videl just nodded before her eyes narrowed as three more Tien appeared around her and blocked her in.
“Like I said, we're going to focus on your awareness. Find me and hit me,” The four Tien spoke in unison and Videl glanced at each of them, narrowing her ki sensing down to a small area before she turned and kicked at the back left clone.
However, she frowned as her leg went through it before grunting as a punch impacted her back, turning around to see another four Tien waiting for her.
“No hints?”
“You have been training and fighting since you were eight, haven't you?”, Tien asked and Videl just smirked before she stood still and focused once again.

“First lesson, energy control,” Krillin spoke with an excited grin from where he was sitting, Erasa looking a bit busy as she was upside down in the air while floating above a pit of sharp thorns.
“H-How is this helping?”
“Well, you got good instincts, but you use more energy than you need to from what I've felt so far. So, I want you to focus and feel the energy you're exuding to keep yourself afloat instead of just using it.”
“Got I-it,” Erasa spoke as she closed her eyes, narrowing her eyes while pulling on her training under Hatska and Master Pybara. She did not have the years of training and martial artist families like Videl and Gohan, but what she did have was a tenacious spirit and a drive to not be left behind by those she loved.
On the outside, Krillin smirked as he felt her energy still, watching as her energy slowly took form around her before his own energy washed across the ground and erased the thorns with ease.
“Good. Keep it up.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You not hanging out with the ladies tonight?”, Krillin asked as I watched him and Tien sparring with each other, neither of them actually trying as it seemed to be more of a way for them to just pass the time.
“No, they kicked me out of the house along with King Kai. Said that I still needed to train and hang out with you guys.”
“Uh-huh, sure you weren't feeling bad about not talking to us?”, Krillin asked with a smirk as they stopped their sparring and I just smiled and shrugged.
“A bit, yeah. How…how have you two been?”, I asked, watching as Tien smiled softly while Krillin shrugged in response.
“The afterlife's been good. We don't need to eat or drink or sleep so the constant training was pretty good. How have you been?”
“Uh, pretty good so far, to be honest. Just a bit tired most of the time.”
“Well, considering that you were a kid and traumatized by the Androids when they came, I'd say a bit tired is probably the best thing that could have happened to you,” Tien spoke with a smile and I chuckled while looking out at the golden clouds of the afterlife.
“Yeah, compared to what you could have turned into with that kind of childhood? You came out pretty okay.”
“Well, you're not wrong. I guess there was always that part of me that thought if I just got stronger and kept pushing, then perhaps I wouldn't have to lose anyone again. Guess that part was right, huh?”
“Have you ever thought about what you'd be doing if there were no threats? No Androids, no intergalactic million year old wizards trying to kill you. Just the Earth at peace?”, Krillin asked and I blinked at the question as I looked up.
“Honestly, I've…Huh, I've never thought about that. I'm all for helping others so maybe teaching, I think? Or perhaps researching ways to combine ki with medicine to make the world a safer place.”
“You could be a professor, then. Teach others what you wanted to learn when you were younger,” Tien spoke with a soft smile and I nodded in thanks at the compliment before looking to the sky.
“Is he…?”
“Goku? No, he usually hangs out at King Yemma's place this time of year because that's the only spot where he's allowed to view Earth. You may have hated your dad before, but the guy was watching you struggling against the Androids 24/7 for those thirteen years.”
“…Well, I guess I feel somewhat bad for what I said, then,” I muttered and they smirked before I stretched out my ki sensing, easily feeling hundreds of different ki signatures appearing.
However, I kept on pushing until I found what was probably two of the largest signatures in the distance, Krillin and Tien smiling as I raised two fingers to my forehead.
“We'll tell them where you went. Go,” Krillin spoke and I gave a thankful smile before I vanished, reappearing on top of a gigantic mahogany table while staring at the giant red-skinned demon sitting behind it in a purple suit.
“Gah! Holy Yemma!”, Yemma exclaimed as he held a hand to his chest, the other demons sounding just as surprised while I ignored them as I stared at the figure looking shocked to see me.
'He hasn't changed a bit,' Other than the halo over his head and the pair of small white wings on his back, I pushed the tears back as Dad slowly stood up and looked at me.
“Gohan?”, He whispered as if unable to believe that I was here and I vanished, a surprised grunt escaping his lips as I appeared in front of him and hugged him tightly.
“Hey, Dad,” I murmured, feeling his hesitance before chuckling through tearful eyes as he hugged me back.
“I'm sorry I wasn't there, son.”
“It's okay. I'm the son of Son Goku so I know what it means to endure, after all,” I spoke as I pulled back and he let out a chuckle at my words before patting my shoulders and scanning my form.
“Wow, you've gotten so big. You're taller than me.”
“I got the best of both you and Mom.”
“Yeah, her brain and my brawn. If it was my brain you got, I'd say that you wouldn't be as smart as you are now,” He said and I chuckled at that, shaking my head as we sat down on the mahogany desk.
“You're smarter than people give you credit for, Dad. You just tend to think more with your fists than your head,” I spoke, his laughter sending warmth through my body as I stared at the man that I used to hate.
“I missed this.”
“So did I. I miss your mom, too. Is she still making that surf 'n turf with the T-Rex steak and the giant lobster claws?”
“Every day on the anniversary of your passing. She said that the smell is something that comforts her mind and your stomach from the afterlife,” I said and watched as the man nodded with a chuckle.
“That is true. So, you wanna hang out or stuff?”
“You are not allowed to go to Hell to fight Frieza, Goku,” King Yemma spoke up and I smiled as Dad groaned while looking at the giant.
“Come on~! You just gave me my body back so at least let me do something with it.”
“Sure, my mahogany desk needs cleaning. Such a fun word, isn't it? Mahogany~”, I watched as Dad stared at the giant before slowly turning to me.
“You wanna help?”
“I'd be glad to.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I grunted as I swung upwards, the ground trembling as I stomped my foot down to catch myself before spinning while twirling the staff above my head.
Swinging it forward, a slight shockwave rippled out and pushed dust upwards, the staff extended and retracted in just two split seconds as I swung down and cracked the ground.
“How is this….? This should not be possible,” King Kai murmured and I smirked as I rested Jingu Bang on my shoulder, looking at the Kai who was scratching his head.
“It's only been two days.”
“It has.”
“…Yet your body has already adapted to the fact that I've had to double the weight six times in the past 48 hours. Does that sound correct to you?'
“…I've always had an abnormal body?”, I said/ asked and King Kai just looked at me before shaking his head with a sigh.
“As weird as your father. Like father, like son, I suppose,” He muttered and I smirked before looking to the left where I saw Videl sparring against Tien, her blows looking noticeably more powerful than before as Tien was actually trying to parry them now.
On the other side of the planet, I smirked as I saw Erasa floating in the air, her ki radiating calmly from her while Krillin shot out ki shockwaves that pushed her now and again to try and disturb her.
“Hah, I suppose I should ignore that and just head on straight to the training,” King Kai's words drew me back to him, but I groaned as the weights increased while he smirked.
“Hehehehe~ Anyway! This is what you need to know about the Kaio-Ken if you wish to learn it. It is not simply just a technique to double your power. Your hormone production, your blood flow, the speed at which your synapses fire, the rate of your cells production and regeneration. All of these little things are all doubled as the Kaio-Ken is activated. That is why your father died at the age that he did.
The Super Saiyan transformation forced the virus to accelerate its growth exponentially, but it was the usage of Kaio-Ken that turned a few of his cells towards each other and forced them to transform into a cancerous tumour. That is also why I warned him to not go above three as his body could not handle it.”
“W-Wait, then why am I learning this again?”, I asked and King Kai rolled his eyes as he began to walk in a circle.
“Because you understand the intricacy and delicacy of ki far more than he did at your age. You know how to manipulate it to boost your power while still knowing how to not use it to negatively affect your body.”
“So, because I've trained with the Yardrats, I should be able to survive?”
“Pretty much, yeah,” He answered with a nod and I nodded as I cracked my neck.
“Got it. So, what's the first step?”
A/N: And we end it off here~!! A bit of bonding time between Father and Son, Gohan hanging out with Tien and Krillin and then, bits of their training.
Next chapter: Back to Earth to see what is happening before the war kicks off.
As always, read, enjoy, review and until the next one…
Ba-Bye~!!
