My Dad is the Strongest?: Ch.4

Cursed Energy is a form of spiritual energy that leaks from humans as a result of their negative emotions. It makes up the bodies of cursed spirits and can be utsed by both sorcerers and the aforementioned spirits to power their jujutsu.

Intense negative emotions such as fear, grief, anger, hatred and envy are what make up the foundations of cursed energy. That is also why the vast majority of human beings possess cursed energy.

If the quantity of this energy is higher than the average amount, it will allow a person to see cursed spirits and these people are known as jujutsu sorcerers.

This energy is the primary source of power for any sorcerer and/ or spirit. Since negative emotions are the trigger to using one's cursed energy, many train themselves to create cursed energy from the slightest spark of emotion and it is said that a sorcerer voluntarily produces said energy akin to the generation of electricity.

'Huh, so it is kind of like Nen.' Killua thought with a hum as he laid on his bed on his stomach while reading the book that aunt Shoko had brought him, kicking his feet in thought as he continued to read.

From the looks of it, this energy was similar to Nen like he suspected, but while Nen was one's own life energy used as a weapon, Cursed Energy appeared to be an energy one had to consciously produce in order to use it.

'Cursed Energy is formed when one experiences intense feelings of anger, hatred, envy, grief or fear. When Ippo died, it felt as if my stomach was on fire and sparking with electricity at the same time, which means that the abdomen or 'core' is where one produces energy.' Even though it has been a month since that day, Killua still missed his best friend.

Telling his dad the news was harder than he expected and attending his funeral brought forth emotions that Killua rarely experienced, which kind of made sense since the kid reminded him so much of Gon.

Just someone that's happy to have a friend to hang out with.

'And now he's gone, just like Gon.' The white-haired boy thought with a soft sigh as he sat up, crossing his legs below him and placing the book on his lap as he continued reading.

Working through his emotions was something he was a bit unused to considering how harsh his last family was on emotions, but since there was no need to keep up a public image to not ruin the Zoldyck name, Killua cried when he needed to and then went back to do what he had to.

After all, Ippo was the wake-up call he needed to stop playing around and start taking his training serious.

'First, I need to figure out where I can train physically. Then, I need to see if it would be possible to get different chemicals and poisons to use. Finally, I may need to get some water and an electric socket.' Killua hated himself for what he is about to embark on, but if he was going to survive especially against these cursed spirits…

Then it's time for the Zoldyck side of him to start helping.

“242…243…244…245…246…”

“Should we…say something?” Hina heard one of the younger girls whisper and smiled as she shook her head, watching as her shirtless son was busy doing upside down sit-ups with the pull-up bar he asked of her while numerous heavy duty chains were wrapped around his upper body.

“No. He just completely ignores you and continues to do his own thing. It's been three months since he started and his routine has been the same everyday, so it's best to just let him finish whatever he's doing and then talk to him after.”

“250!”

“Like now. Kil, can I talk to you real quick?” Hina spoke as her son flipped backwards and landed on a knee, having gotten used to him just dropping from the pull-up bar as Killua looked up at her while taking off the chains.

“Sure, Mom. What can I help with?”

“Nothing. It's just…well, Shoko delivered something this morning and I wanted you to open it first.” Killua frowned slightly in confusion as aunt Shoko had never sent him envelopes let alone ones that his mom didn't open.

Nodding as he took the envelope she held out, he looked up at his mom as he watched her clear out the room of the younger girls to give him some privacy and back at the envelope.

A look of understanding flashed in his eyes as he saw what was written and realized just why his mom didn't want to open it.

From Your Dad

'…Well, let's get this over with.' Killua thought with a grunt as he sat back down on the floor, opening the envelope before blinking at the simple paper that he took out, unfolding it to reveal a short message.

Okay, kid. Listen, I'm not…the best at showing my emotions to others and I am the type to be overtaken by my emotions especially after some personal stuff that happened.

Don't worry, I am not making excuses to make it seem as if there were things keeping me from being in your life because honestly, I…I guess I was afraid.

I know what I had to go through from a young age to be known as the Strongest Sorcerer of the Modern Era and to be honest…I did not want my child to go through that same process.

It scarred me, warped me into the demented egotistical bastard that I am today and I…the thought of you turning out just like me…For the first time, something actually struck fear into me.

That is why I paid off all of those people to lie that they never saw me and why I've been raising the kid of the guy that nearly killed.

It's a good thing your mom also has the same white hair and blue eyes as me or else you would have stuck out like a steel beam in a haystack.

Ha! Get it? 'Cause a steel beam is bigger than a…eh, I'll have to work on my dad jokes.

Anyway, like I said, I'm not making excuses to make myself feel less guilt-ridden because I do and that is why I asked Shoko if she can't deliver this to you after she told me that you've awakened your cursed energy.

If you want to hang out and perhaps learn a thing or two from your dad, I'd be happy too, but if you don't, I'll understand completely.

From Your Awesome Dad and A Sensational Model Wherever I Go

Satoru Gojo

'…So everything was to protect Mom and I, huh? Looks like I judged you too quickly there, Gojo.' Killua thought with a smirk as he folded up the letter before looking up to see the door to the room open and watching amusedly as his mom peeked in.

“Ah, no tears. So, it wasn't a bad letter.”

“Read it for yourself.” He said as he held it out and stood up as she took it with a hesitant look, watching as his mom opened it up and read through its contents with a slight frown.

“…Who the hell said I needed his protection?” His mom grumbled as she folded it back up, but Killua snorted as he saw the slight smirk she had for a brief moment.

“Mom, you really need to stop acting tough.”

“You're not too old to catch a whooping.” His mom spoke with a raised eyebrow and he giggled as he shrugged, to which she smiled and pulled him closer as Killua hugged him.

“Do you want to meet him?”

“Am I allowed to?”

“I'm not a warden, Kil. If you wanna meet your dad, he can come meet you.”

“…I think I want to.” He said as he looked up at her and she smiled and nodded before taking out the small smartphone from her cleavage, a Sharp Aquos Crystal X if he's remembering correctly.

Shoko Ieiri here. How can I help?” Killua heard Shoko's voice as she spoke up and Hina smiled as she answered.

“Hey, Shoko. It's Hina here.”

“Oh, hey~ What can I help with?”

“Well, Kil finally read the letter you gave us and he wants to meet Gojo. Think you could arrange something?”

Wait, he wants to meet me?!” Killua blinked as he heard a male voice sounding panicked in the background before blinking as he heard footsteps rushing away in the background, his mom looking exasperated as aunt Shoko spoke in an amused tone.

I'm guessing you heard that?”

“We did. Where should we meet him?”

Kyoto Kitcho Arashiyama. I'll meet them there.”

“He's paying?” Killua heard his mom ask and smirked as she gave him a wink while he heard aunt Shoko speak.

Always. He'll see you guys tomorrow.”

“Okay then. Bye~!”

Bye~” Shoko greeted before the call ended and Killua couldn't help his laughter at his mom's next words.

“Your mom just scored us both an expensive lunch. Now, let's see if I can't get one of my more revealing dresses to make him feel jealous.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Good morning, madam. May I say-!”

“She's not looking for someone. Keep it moving or I'm tearing your heart out.” Killua spoke with a bored tone as he stood besides his mom and as the man in the suit gave him an affronted look, it quickly changed to fear as Killua flexed his cursed energy for a brief moment while giving the man a cold gaze.

“Sweetheart, I need to lure men to my work and you're interfering with my business~” Hina said with a whine and Killua rolled his eyes as he heard the whining tone in her voice.

“Mom, you're 33. Act your age.”

SMACK

“Wanna repeat that?”

“I'm sorry. Damn old hag.” Killua apologized with a grumble as he rubbed the back of his head, Hina nodding with a proud smile as she crossed her arms under her ample bosom that was accentuated by the low-cut black dress she had on.

While it wasn't tight to the point that people could see everything, it was form-fitting while still being loose enough to where she would draw attention yet still be considered modest.

Combine that with her hair being up in a bun as well as the ruby-red lipstick she had on and Killua wondered how many men he's chased away in the last minute let alone the five minutes they've been waiting for his…well, 'dad'.

“It's been five minutes. Where the hell is this white-haired idiot?”

“Exactly. Haven't you heard of one being fashionably late?” An amused and confident voice spoke up from behind them, Killua turning around only to blink as he was staring at the chest of a man dressed in a very expensive suit.

“Damn, you really do look like me.” The man muttered as Killua looked up, staring directly at the face of the man who looked like an older copy of himself except the man was wearing a pair of very dark sunglasses to go with his suit.

“How dark are those?” Killua asked and Satoru rose an eyebrow before taking off his glasses, Killua taking the glasses held out to him and putting them on before whistling as he could just barely see the white on his old man's shirt.

“Wow~I'm guessing you see through your…Six Eyes, right?” Killua asked as he handed the glasses back and Gojo chuckled as he nodded while putting his glasses back on to the disappointment of the many women and girls looking at the three white-haired people standing on the pavement.

“Correcto~ Hey, Hina. Sorry about the whole running away thing.”

“Like I said when we first met, I know a weak man when I see one, but don't worry. Shoko talked me through it and I forgave you. I'm still a bit miffed, but I forgave you.”

“…I thank you for your forgiveness, I guess? So, you two want to go in or do you want to keep talking out here?”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“…” The silence was tense, jovial and awkward all in one as Killua and his parents sat in a private booth, looking at his mom to see her sitting with an amused smile while looking over at Gojo revealed him humming while looking around the room.

“Is anyone going to talk or are we just going to look at each other?” Killua asked as he took a sip from his tea, smirking as his mom snorted while his dad shrugged.

“I know I'm not the emotional and talkative type so I was waiting for one of you to break the ice, which you did. So, what did you guys wanna talk about?”

“…Honestly, no clue.” Killua spoke bluntly with a shrug and Satoru snorted before they looked over to Hina as she giggled.

“You two are so alike it's almost scary.”

“How is that possible? We just met.”

“What he said and if anything, he's more like me since I'm the dad here.”

“Oi, I'm the better version here, you Kakashi-lookalike.”

“See, now you're stepping into territory where I'm obligated to kick your ass. Also, that's just insulting yourself because if I'm the Kakashi-lookalike, that means you're the inferior version of me.” Satoru spoke with a frown and Killua glared before the two burst out into laughter, Hina rolling her eyes as she rested her chin on her hands.

“And you two wonder why I call you two alike.”

“Heh, it's a good thing you take after me and not your mom. I'm the better-looking one.”

“Ha! In your dreams, Gojo. Unlike you, I don't need to wear expensive clothing and perfume to look good.”

“Just because you can't afford doesn't mean you would look good in it.” Satoru spoke with a shrug and Killua had to lean back and let the two adults argue as he calmly sipped his tea with an amused smile.

“See, now those are fighting words there.”

“As if I'm scared. Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Honored One.”

“That sounds corny as heck.” Killua muttered before ducking as a hand missed his head, grinning while his mom laughed as Satoru grumbled while crossing his arms with a huff.

“You wouldn't understand the true meaning behind poetry.”

“ 'All the time I pray to Buddha I keep on killing mosquitoes'. See, not that hard, huh?”

“…Is he mocking my phrase?” Satoru asked as he looked at Hina only to blink as she gave a smug grin.

“Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the bedridden one.”

“…You know what? I think I'm just going to order.” Satoru grumbled, but he couldn't help the smirk on his face as he watched Killua and Hina share a 'discreet' fist bump.

Perhaps Shoko was right about this whole reconciliation thing. Now he's just hoping Hina doesn't ask the one question he wants her to.

“By the way, he's seven so you missed out on seven years of birthdays and Christmas gifts.” Hina spoke up with a knowing smirk and giggled as he sighed while Killua hid his laughter.

Spoke too soon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“…Really?” Killua asked as he looked at the bank card in his grasp and back up at his dad, who smiled and nodded as Hina stood behind her son.

“Yeah. The card's connected to my personal account that no one other than I handle and since I only use the clan's account for my own purchases, you can have that. I haven't used it at all and most of the cash I've earned and will earn is on that one so…yeah, use it as you wish.”

“…You might have just become my favourite parent.”

“Wait, what?”

“That's what I'm talking about!” Satoru cheered with a grin and Killua chuckled as he gave his mom a wink, to which she simply rolled her eyes even as she had an amused smile on her face.

“So, what do we do now?” Killua asked after Satoru stopped celebrating, to which the man blinked before shrugging as he scratched the back of his head.

“To be truthful, I want to keep doing this and I want you to meet the kid I've been raising, but I also don't want to be too pushy.”

“Don't worry. When you grow up in a brothel, you get used to people being pushy.”

“I would get mad if I didn't know that to be the truth.” Hina spoke with a smirk and Killua simply gave a sly smirk before looking back at his dad.

“I wouldn't mind meeting the other kid or hanging out again. When do you wanna meet?”

“As long as it's a Saturday afternoon since that's when Megumi doesn't have school, I'm more than okay with it.” Satoru spoke with a shrug and Killua looked at his mom, to which she hummed and nodded.

“Okay, I would like to meet this other 'son' as well.”

“Of course you would. Well then, how about…in a month or so since Megumi is busy with exams right now?”

“Good! See you in a month.” Killua agreed and blinked as the man vanished with a pop, hearing his mom sigh as he didn't even see the man move let alone where he had disappeared to.

'I can see what they mean by him being the Strongest now.'

“So, you enjoy your day with your father?” Hina asked as the two of them made their way back to their apartment at the soapland and Killua smiled and nodded while twirling the card in his grasp.

“Yep! Now I can buy all the chocolates I want!”

“You know, why don't you let your mother hold onto that? For safekeeping?” His mom said with a sly smirk as she went to grab it only to blink as Killua had vanished from her sight and was waiting under a post with a knowing smirk.

“Mom, I'm not dumb. Also, he gave it to me.”

“You know, now that you have money, you can start paying for your side of the rent, groceries, your clothes, your calligraphy brushes, your books…” Killua just rolled his eyes as his mom began to list off stuff at random, shaking his head as the two of them made their way back home.

'Hopefully she stops soon.'

“Your toys, all the candy I used to buy, those chemicals you wanted me to buy which I'm still mad about, your…”

'Hah, this is going to be a long trip back home, huh?'

A/N: Another slice of life chapter and this time, we got to meet Dad~!!

As said, Satoru did feel bad about what he did but he also had a reason for it and he is now trying to right his wrongs.

Also, I have been reminded by a member(since I forgot) that Gojo just sponsored Megumi and his sister and he didn't actually adopt them, but in this story, he's less of a guardian and more of a cool uncle that took the kids in when their parents died if that makes sense.

Hope you guys like that.

Also, yes, Killua is going to train like hell in the next year and a half because he's going to have his first sorcerer fight against someone from the canon universe.

Who that is, we'll have to wait and see~

Also, I feel like with how I changed the story around, 'My Deadbeat Dad is the Strongest?' doesn't work as a title no more so if you guys wanna suggest a few new ones, I'm all ears.

Anyway, as always, read, enjoy, review and until the next one…

Ba-Bye~!!

Comments

True for both and I agree. Simplistic titles are most times better than thinking of an elaborate one.

I mean, My Dad Is The Strongest? also works. Was trying to think of an elaborate one but it doesn’t really need to be. Sometimes simple works. The Monkey King as a title for the gohan story also works better imo. He’s a king now and it’s a play on the inspiration of db, journey to the west. Blonde monke isn’t really that accurate anymore either with ssj4 in the picture.
