NOTE: The EA App/EA Gamepass version currently doesn't seem to work, so the tools needs an update with updated patterns for that version

NOTE: If you're using v1.0.3 or higher and get crashes immediately after injecting the dll, please specify in the comments which GPU you're using. I had to make two code paths for different GPUs (RTX 40x0 and everything else) and it might be this isn't entirely correct for your GPU.

NOTE: I've re-attached v1.0.2 for the people who have crashes with 1.0.4+

- Fixed: The depth of field effect was enabled again in the game after injecting the dll when the Disable DOF checkbox in the client was unchecked and the depth of field was also disabled in the game settings
- Fixed: Roll wasn't properly set when you restored a camera state from one of the three camera save slots. This also fixes the roll being wrong at times when you moved through camera path nodes and then moved the camera away to a different spot
- Fixed: The overlay wasn't visible on RTX 50x0 cards

- Fixed: RTX 4050 cards weren't showing the in-game overlay
- Fixed: The mouse pointer could disappear in some situations when the overlay was activated. I think I have covered all possible scenarios now and the mouse cursor should be visible properly when the overlay is active in all situations
- Added: Added the lightunit type to light editors, so you can pick a type that's brigher, which helps in dark areas
- Fixed: Removed clamping on some values in the light editors so you can now increase brightness and volumetric fog settings way higher
- Added: A light is now attachable to the camera
- Added: Higher shadow resolution setting

- Added: Lights are back! They now should work ok without crashing the game and the tools now also shouldn't crash the game anymore when injecting

- Fixed: I'm terribly sorry but the lights feature has a crucial issue which causes the game to crash as soon as you open the character menu after creating a light and I don't seem to be able to fix it at this point. I've therefore disabled the feature for now. I'll re-enable it again IF I find a way to reliably create lights and not make the game crash elsewhere (as who wants that, right? )

- Fixed: Added mouse support and input blocking for camera when the menu is up. If the menu is hidden with the hud toggle to e.g. use the camera in a cutscene, the camera can now be controlled by the mouse.

- Added: Custom lights (Spot light and sphere/point light). The in-game overlay (opened by default with Ctrl-Insert) is now also supported, and contains the Lights tab which offers light creation and editing of custom lights. This feature can be a little rough, e.g. mouse pointer not working or some settings not doing anything. The mouse issue is something that I sadly can't fix, the settings not doing anything could be related to your in-game settings or their effect isn't visible at distance you're looking at the light.

It's not going to work with the EA app version, as it's incompatible. You're absolutely right that it's not mentioned anywhere. That's my mistake and I'll correct it on the main page with the game list (where it should have been mentioned). If you now can't use my cameras, please say so and I'll refund it.

hello. i subscribed because on your info page Veilguard was not listed as (Steam). i could not access more info about the mod before subscribing. i have the EA app version, and i'm confused. some places it says that these tools are not compatible with EA app, and elsewhere it says that one needs to update some patterns for it to work? and yet another place it says one needs to disable the in-game overlay. i read a little on the documentations but didn't see how to turn off the overlay or what to do with patterns. what do i do to have it work on my EA app version? i don't want to start injecting the mod into my game, in case it doesn't work. thanks

The card nvidia sent me is simply too unstable in my system so I couldn't test the tools with it, but I have blindly added an exception clause for every 50x0 card, which might solve it. Could you please try the 1.0.5 version I've attached above and please report if that worked for you? Thanks

Hmm.... I had to add custom code for a series of RTX cards (namely all 40x0 cards). I will test on a 50x0 card nvidia sent me, and adjust the code if needed for these cards as well. (it's caused by the nvidia dlss wrapper which causes the wrong render queue to be obtained so the overlay is rendered on the wrong queue and ends up not being displayed).

I tried removing the files and rebinding the overlay keys but sadly it is still invisible. It flashes on my screen for a split second but disappears again. I can see it flicker occasionally if I keep the overlay open. It IS there, but it wont stay visible.

Could you remove the igcs .ini files in the game folder and try again? Also did you rebind the keys?

I share your sympathy. It's rare that a game's exe is this different across stores. I got my game on Steam as the last time I used the EA app it was so utterly crap (download speeds < 1KB/s for long periods of time etc.) but I expected it would be ok... not so it turned out :( I'm sorry.

Yes, that's expected, it's mentioned in the article above! The EA version doesn't work, as the exe is different and the tools can't find essential elements.

Okay tried 1.02 again. INS does nothing. EA Overlay is off. I confirm this by hitting SHIFT+F1 in game. Ray Tracing, Frame Gen, all of it off. Does ShadowPlay interfere by chance? I will try that next.

If 1.0.4 crashes, try 1.0.2, the difference is the light feature. the light feature depends on the tools hooking a delegate engine pipeline which might fail, hence I kept 1.0.2 attached. Also try to disable RTSS or other overlays you might have enabled. As the tools don't work with the EA version, it can't be the EA overlay. To my knowledge they didn't release an update on steam for quite some time

Yep, nope. I just tried everything. 1.04 just crashes constantly. I have tried graphics settings in game, went and read your help page. Insert doesn't work. My overlay is off, on every launcher ever made because I hate them. I hit INS and the game crashes. I verified files, drivers, you name it. It's not working. I depend on your tools for my content.

heyy there, thank you so much for making this flycam. i've been really excited to use it after seeing clips online of the game. so i'm trying to use my gamepad (specifically my ps5 controller) to control the flycam since i can't literally use keyboard controls to save my life and even though i have the gamepad setting enabled, i can't seem to move the camera around. i noticed in the settings it does have xbox prompts like the B and Y buttons for example but no ps5 prompts. if i switch to keyboard, it works fine (very slowly but that's just a me problem bc of me not being good with keyboard controls)

Could you delete the igcs settings ini file and the igcs imgui ini file? (or move them somewhere else) and reboot your pc? I know it sounds silly but I think there's an error happening somewhere and the client silently crashes. this shouldn't happen but alas, it does. (crashes should show an error window, but for some weird reasons some crashes don't... :( )

That's what's so odd. To my knowledge, nothing changed. It was working brilliantly and then I quit the game for a few hours, left my PC on, came back, and it wouldn't open. It registers that it's running for just a second in the task manager but then stops itself. Sorry if this is outside of your realm of expertise, by the way! I just figured I'd ask if you had any ideas but I totally get it if it's a "me" problem lol

So what changed? And for my understanding... not opening means: you start igcsclient.exe but it simply never shows its window? Does it run when you check windows task manager -> details tab?

Could you check if your virusscanner perhaps flagged it? Could you add an exception for the folder you unpacked the zip into and see if that fixes things?

Yeah I think the hooking of the function causes issues in some rare cases even tho it doesn't do anything if you don't have any light... :(

Hiya! Happy holidays if you celebrate them. I wanted to mention that I'd been using the 102 version of the mod for a few weeks with no issues, but then out of nowhere it just stopped opening. I redownloaded both that one and the newer version, but the mod just won't open at all. I've tried running it as admin and running it normally, but no dice. I'm playing on Steam, if that helps. Any ideas what the issue might be?

I think my comment was a bit unclear it wasn't using lights that was crashing my game. I only used those few times and they worked fine when I used them. it was using 1.04 in general even when just playing and taking normal screenshots, it would just crash occasionally during gameplay :( shame but yeah I guess it is what it is... reverting to 1.02 works.

Not using lights should not give more crashes than with 1.0.2. Lights are cumbersome to add to a runtime scene, sadly. The engine doesn't support dynamic lights being created through a simple API so the lights are added in a hacky way that's not native to the engine. This can go wrong at runtime. It's sadly not simple to say why, other than it's a result of the engine running into a situation caused by lights being there while it doesn't expect them. The only way to solve this is by not using the lights. I tried everything to find a stable route to add/remove them but that turned out to be very complicated. For a while I thought it wasn't possible at all, but the function I'm using now is the most stable one I've found... It is what it is...

Hello, just wanted to let you know I too have issues with crashing with 1.04. I tested for a long time before posting this to be sure. using 1.01 and 1.02 never had a single crash for weeks, when I switched to 1.04 crashes started happening sporadically. Sometimes when injecting dll.. but mostly later randomly during gameplay and taking and setting up screens. it was rare enough maybe once a day.. but sometimes several times during few hours. Loved the lights and took some nice shots with them, but decided to switch back to 1.02. Haven't had a single crash after that. so it's deff smth about 1.04 :( My GPU is AMD Radeon RX 6600

The issue is random, so it's not related to the folder, sadly. The main issue is that at that moment there's no memory to allocate close to the function it needs to hook (within 2GB in memory) so it gives up. This can solve itself later on but in some rare cases it can't. There's sadly no fix for this atm.

This is the error that was coming up: [>ERROR<] :: Mainloop hook for lights not set! MH_ERROR_MEMORY_ALLOC. Will retry when overlay is toggled. I toggled the overlay on and off multiple times but it didn't fix the problem. I closed the game and moved the IGCS folder to another location on my computer and that SEEMS to have fixed the issue for the time being. :) I'm not sure if it was just a fluke or what lol but I'll let you know if I have any further issues! <3

Sadly, yes. The executable (the exe file) contains code (in byte form). THe tools find blocks of code to intercept and change so the camera can be intercepted etc. However the executable of the EA version is different, which means it can't find the blocks of code to change, hence the errors you get. I can't get a game on all stores to see if it works or not, and usually it doesn't matter, but here sadly it is different. I honestly don't know why this is. The EA exe is also encrypted so I couldn't do much else than give up on it. The only thing I can think of perhaps is that if you inject after you loaded your save, the game might have decrypt the exe in memory properly, but other than that... it's sadly not going to work

Nothing happens as in... no light is added to the list? Please check the log tab. If it shows an error it wasn't able to hook the right function properly, closing and reopening the overlay should fix that. It's a complicated system to hook into hence it's cumbersome and rough to use at times... :(

No, this isn't going to work, as the steam version is different from the EA version. Hence my explicit remark that only the steam version works. Adding it to steam doesn't make the game work, as the exe is different. I Have no idea why this is btw, in most cases executables are roughly the same between stores but here it's completely different, like it's a different version. I can't fix this.

(And I don't understand how I can inject it into the wrong process since there is only one Dragon Age Veilguard process in the list and it is selected by default in the client ... Note: I've disabled the overlay in EA app)

Actually I launchrd the game from Steam but initially I had bought it via EA, so I had to add the game to my Steam games list, but when I launch it, EA app launches too, could that be the problem? (Does this mean that people who bought the game from EA app also have to buy it on Steam to use your tool?)

Hiya!! Loving this tool a ton but since the latest game patch, I'm having an issue with the spawnable lights. I can open the overlay just fine with ctrl+insert, but when I try to create a spotlight or sphere light using either of the buttons on the overlay, nothing happens. :(

If you start the game from steam, it doesn't run with admin privileges so you don't need the client to run as admin as well :) However if the game is started as admin it's invisible to software that don't run as admin

No, sorry. If you have the version from steam, and you start the game from steam, and you inject the tool when the main menu is up (so where you see the lighthouse) it should work without problems. However it looks like it can't find anything, as if you inject it in the wrong process...

Hi I cannot inject the DLL anymore because the tool doesn't find the .exe of the game. When I push the "Select" button I don't have the .exe in the list either. I disabled all overlays (steam and Nvidia) although it worked before for me without any issues. I only found out after the last game update, but I can't say for sure if that's the cause. I have a RTX 4070 with the newest driver if that helps. I also tried both camera tools (v102 and v104) and the issue is the same. Restarting my PC didn't help either since I have this problem for several days now. I hope you can give me pointers what to do, and thanks for your always great camera tools! πŸ’œ

I have the official version and have just tested with v1.0.4 On the other hand, I've noticed something strange, I launch the game via Steam but it launches at the same time with the EA launcher, impossible to launch independently, is this normal?

Hmm. I have the steam version and no errors whatsoever. Please make sure you have the official version and use v1.0.4 of the camera tools. I don't think there are mods available atm that alter the code so my tools can't find the blocks they need to find

You have to enable Numlock to have the keys on the numeric keypad to work :) Press Insert next to the backspace key to enable the camera

After restarting 1.02 a couple times it looks to be working again. I think that issue is something with the game, it messes with the mouse. Replicated it later on my husband's computer. We're both not using any mods except yours.

:( Sorry for that... the lights are pretty complicated to run, and have the tendency to crash the game at times. (hence the warning at the bottom of the overlay)... There's sadly nothing I can do to fix the crashes if you run into them, as I'm already happy it runs ok on my system (but crashes sometimes too). The code has to run during the render loop at a specific moment, and I think some engine timings might get wrong in some cases, if a custom light is created. It's sadly not as smooth as with Unreal engine where creating a light is pretty robust.

I did indeed use both of them. I enabled Frame Generation through the DLSSG-to-FSR3 mod from Nexusmods, which worked fine so far but it does seem to have been the culprit. When I restarted the game without it, I got the overlay to work! Unfortunately the game crashed immediately after I created my first light.

It should work fine with a 3080, as in: the overlay should show up. The alternative path for the 40x0 cards crashes on a 3080, so they're excluded. Ok, this might be a bit tedious but, please answer: which upscaling do you use, do you use frame regeneration? (this to see if these are the culprits). If you do, could you try without them?

What GPU are you using? I had to make two code paths based on the GPU name, which is kind of lame but the only way it would work, as there was no way I could otherwise determine it. In the log tab you'll see 'Running on GPU:...' and a name after it. What does it say?

I'm trying 1.0.4 and I can't get the overlay to show up. When I use the bound keys, the mouse cursor shows up but nothing else and I can't do any inputs until I "close" the overlay again. No errors in the log or even an output that *anything* happens. Everything else works fine though.

I was using 1.02 which worked amazingly until today, suddenly the keybindings don't work/aren't doing what they are set to do. I downloaded 1.04 to update and pressing Insert while that's running crashes the game and tool. Using NVIDIA RTX 3070, Steam version of the game, during a cutscene. Let me know if you need anything else from me!

Razer synapse has problems sometimes yes, could you try without it? However if insert doesn't do anything, something else is wrong most likely. Do you see any errors in the log tab? The EA version isn't supported, you need the steam version

Hi! Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but when I press insert nothing appears to happen, and pressing ctrl + ins for the overlay crashes/closes the game. I know you mentioned MSI Afterburner might cause similar problems, but I don't believe I use that software. Now I'm worried that there might be issues with NVIDIA or Razer Synapse that mimic what Afterburner does but I don't know what settings to tweak.

Hey! Im using rtx 4060. It was fine for 30~min playing with all he stuff but then it crashed (game and tool) and when i relaunched the game it happened again. I guess it's the light settings and it's crashing during gameplay not cutscene. Bur all i managed to in the cutscene with light was moving it to camera using tab button because of the bug it didn't show mouse.

That can sometimes happen. To fix it go to the igcsdof.fx shader in the reshade home tab and click the buttom above the one setting for the shader to reset it to the default settings. That should fix it

this has been working AMAZING (on steam) but out of nowhere, if I boot the game and IGCSDOF is enabled (which it usually always is checked on in my reshade preset) the game loads onto a black screen with only the mouse showing. If I turn uncheck it its back to normal. It only started happening within the last 12 hours and its never had this issue before. I didnt see any updates today, am I missing something by any chance? (didnt know where else to ask this sorry!) Edit: It seems to work fine once Im in game, not sure why booting with it is somehow an issue now though. Oh well lol

I'm sorry.. :( I've also found an issue with the lights which crashes the game 100% after going into the char menu after creating a light, so I'll disabled the overlay and lights for now, so 1.0.2 shouldn't crash anymore (but does bring the fix for mouse camera when you hide the menu.)

There was no overlay and it crashes immediately after I inject but only in new version. The old one version of the photomode don't crash

That's a regular crash in the GPU driver. I have the same drivers but didn't see any issue. Tho do you have an overlay running other than the NVidia overlay? Is this crash happening immediately after you inject or after you do something?

Anti virus checkers use AI to match patterns. it might be my code traps up a match. It's a false positive as they say... these sometimes happen. Can also be when you inject the tools, it's triggered by the tools altering a running process (the game).

Hello. I downloaded the new version and got an error that keep crashing game: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED ("You tried to use a resource to which you did not have the required access privileges."). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti", Driver: 56094. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing; try installing the latest drivers. I have the latest drivers, but access denied is confusing me. I wanted to ask: is it the files or is there something wrong with my computer? Thank you πŸ™πŸΌ

For some reason my antivirus freaks out over this, but never did over the BG3 one. Same computer/antivirus. Does this just access something different that would set it off? I don’t think something’s wrong, just wondering why this one would do that but the other didn’t.

Hey there, first of all thank you so much for the camera tools they're amazing as always! Short question: Do you think it would be possible tweak the ingame sharpening? I have a feeling that when turning down/off bloom the game looks way to oversharpened. If I play the game at 1440p that becomes very obvious and looks really bad whereas 4k looks perfect. Is there a way to deactivate the user messages (e.g. Camera enabled, HUD hidden) in the upper left corner? Sadly the messages are very disturbing when I record ingame scenes. If it's not implemented, it would be very nice if the option could be added. :)

No, sorry that sounds like a specific area maybe causes some banding in the colors. You could try the deband shader for reshade perhaps to mitigate it?

Thank you both Frans and @kunstpause !! By allowing both DAV and the camera tools through the controlled folder settings, I am now freely able to use both and be able to save manually/autosave again! :D

Ah, thanks for the info! :) The igcsclient injects a dll into another process (the game) and this could be seen as 'hostile' by a virusscanner (which is reasonable), and it perhaps flagged it because of that. Glad you got it sorted! Hopefully it helps Asher as well :)

I tried it that way, but I had the same error, but now I think I figured out the issue. (Maybe that helps the other person too) It seems to have been an issue with my windows defender. I am not sure why, but it suddenly blocked the Veilguard exe from writing new save files at the usual location. I put both Veilguard's exe and the screenshot tool no on the list of apps that are allowed access to controlled folders and now it works, I can run the tools and save. And I am certain that it must have been something in my setup, not related to your tools because when I first downloaded the game (and didn't have your tools yet) I also got the error of not getting past the "Press any button" screen. Somehow, that fixed itself through several restarts and I am not sure why, but that seems to have been the same issue of Veilguard not getting access to the save folder. Thank you for taking the time trying to fix it for me, even if it was such a vague and weird error, and I hope this can help anyone else who runs into the issue.

My tools don't interact with anything related to saving or objects that have to be saved, so it's a mystery why this happens. There's a save issue plaguing people playing DAV also without tools it seems so not sure you're affected by that or that it's something else. Tbh I have no idea what it could be caused by. Just to confirm, if you start the game, don't inject any tools, load a save, then save it again, that works, but if you do: start the game, inject the tools, load a save and save it again it fails? Please test this with these exact steps! It's important.

Hello! I'm not sure what a trainer is, to be honest! My DAV is a Steam copy and completely vanilla, if this information helps! I really don't know how to troubleshoot this, because I'm not sure what is causing the camera tools to interact with the saving processes, and/or vice versa :(

Are you using a trainer too? I found this thread https://www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.asp?headID=158397&titleID=79482 and that's the only place where I could find anything related to this. Of all the users using the tools, no-one else reported this, and I haven't seen it myself either. So it's super weird this pops up.

I am also having this issue!! I'm unsure what is causing it and if it's simply just the game not playing nice with the camera tools. I really hope it's not the latter, because even if DAV has its own photomode, I'll always prefer Frans' camera tools. EDIT: By "issue", I mean by activating the camera tools, I can no longer save manually and the game stops autosaving itself entirely as well!

I love your camera tool, but with Veilguard I am having the weirdest issue. If I run the tools then I can no longer save my game. I get an error message that the game can't save anymore. I never had any issues with any of your camera tools before, so I don't know how to troubleshoot this. If I close the tools the game still refuses to save until I restart it completely. I'm using the steam version if that helps.

Mouse movement / rotation in cutscenes when you pause via the menu and then hide it is currently not working (see below my reply to another user). Keyboard camera movement however should work fine (or gamepad)

Yes that's a known issue, and I currently have no solution. The game engine simply swallows all mouse input when the menu is up. Hopefully I can find something about it soon...

small issue i noticed the camera controls for the mouse stop working when u esc pause the game in cutscene picking up a controller solves the problem tho. using the numpad on the keyboard is really really slow

Sadly the code in the EA App version is a lot different and as I don't have that version I can't really adjust my tools for it either. I tried with the exe of the EA App version but it's encrypted so I can't do much with it. So for now there's sadly nothing I can do. It's odd tho, it looks like either one of the versions (Steam or the EA App one) is outdated, the code is definitely not identical. So my hope is that either one gets an update and both then start to work :)

Making a shortcut for the dof enable/disable isn't that simple, so that's not likely to be added. The alternative could be to toggle it off with shadertoggler, an addon I wrote for reshade to toggle on/off effects in game: https://framedsc.com/ReshadeGuides/Addons/shader_toggler_repository.htm I haven't tried if that is able to disable the dof but it's highly likely. The keyboard shortcut for the overlay is my mistake. I disabled the overlay for now as the mouse clicks aren't arriving at the tools when the menu is up so I disabled it (it's not used anyway, only has camera stuff), but I forgot to remove the keyboard shortcut editor for it :)

Hey it's me again.. I'm so sorry for bothering you this much but I have one last question I want to get familiarized with all controls I will use often :) The option to disable in game DOF when you want is so great because I don't want to have it disable the whole time, and was wondering if there is any way to do it via shortcut while we're in game. I've been looking at documentation and all hotkeys but haven't found anything for that. I've seen there is a shortcut to change game speed. is is possible to do the same with DOF so we don't have to alt tab out of the game to your camera tool every time to do it? Also I was wondering what is the in-game overlay (set to CTRL+I) suppose to do? I though maybe I can access these option that way but nothing shows up in my game when I press CTRL+I

Been testing it for hours and camera works great. Already took so many nice screenshots. :) Also love bloom settings and ability to disable ingame DOF to use your own. but I wanted to ask another thing. is there any way to pause during in game cutscenes and those mini cutscene conversations. In some games it's possible but here when I try to pause during those the game just keeps playing them weirdly.

yeah I take screenshots with my AMD relive native software and have my own custom screenshot hotkey and my own custom location set up which always works. the f12 key can be finicky..
