The plate has Mary Blair illustrations on it. Her family sold them a while back, and I'm very fond of them because I handled that particular art for a Blair show at the Cartoon Art Museum,

The very first time I had a truly fresh egg, it rocked my world. It was at a breakfast place in Seattle that had direct relationships with various local farms.

2025-06-09 21:41:54 +0000 UTCThe thing about wine is you can taste the difference between eight buck chuck and $20, but then it’s all much of a muchness until you hit $1000 a bottle and it’s the best thing you’ve ever had, then at $5k a bottle and up it tastes like shit again. Granted, I’m extrapolating from the one glass of the $1k stuff I’ve had, and the sip of the $5k I managed to get down. But I’m sure my experiences are universal.

2025-06-09 20:07:51 +0000 UTCA friend of mine raises chickens and always talks about how the eggs are SO DIFFERENT from store-bought. "It's like it's a completely different food!" He gave me a taste. Tasted like egg. Then again, I'm the guy who can taste a $100/bottle wine and say, "tastes like wine", so don't mind me.
