Transfigure 0.0.7

Here is the new update including another ending. It took me extra time because my place needed sudden work done and I wanted a higher number of graphics per scene (plus I forgot about the makeup scene in the middle), so I’m sorry about that. I lowered my stress level a bit so I am prepared to work hard until Christmas. The game should now start to leave its awkward 3D to hybrid transformation stage. I will continue to tweak, add, and upgrade art as I go along. I'm doing my best to ensure the updates will be more rapid and content filled going forward since I have roughly completed about double the amount of art that exists within the html game.

I’ve tried to push polish and tasks that are more delay prone until the end so this led to me completing most of Transfigure's simpler art first (which has left some notable gaps). So I am trying to add it all into the game to meet that minimal level ASAP. AI systems in general are much more efficient but there are a lot of detail oriented issues and quirks that can make some pieces of art very difficult to make. It is almost a comical paradox in a way, how easy some stuff is but other random tasks will be absurdly difficult or require me to train an entire model myself to deal with it. I was losing my mind trying to train the AI to understand the concept of stripping / removing clothing without it distorting or ruining the art. It worked with shirts but not dresses and I wanted this ability for other areas in the VN (plus I want to add all of the html endings as quickly as possible and polish them later), so I got it working. The AI stuff is still controversial but studios are starting to refine their processes and match that with more powerful tools and professionals. The gaming industry is in an interesting spot. The creative potential is massive if we can ever get out of this new censorship era we find ourselves in.

Progress has been pretty good. I have around 2,500 complete pieces of art for the game and a couple thousand that are in production, needing more polish or photoshop or editing work to match the rest. Minus extras, complicated scenes, and animations, this is most of the game’s base art to get to a minimally complete level. I am now in the task of fitting it all together, filling in blanks, and then trying to raise the presentation to a decent level. A lot of the scenes as they are now in the later sections that are about to be unlocked are stiff in that they match the html which often had no graphics for several large pages of text. A visual novel is a more visual experience by definition. So it is a matter of going through, adding extra art, and fixing as much stiffness as possible by changing sprites to be more interactive while continuing adding more art and animations. The scripting work is mostly done for the game but I intended to use full renders when I did most of that but now the game is evolving to have a mix of a lot of CG, reusable character sprites, and animation. I have about 20 animations for the game so far but I am still experimenting in ways to upscale the quality since the animation has a noticeable dip in resolution. I tested multiple ways to do this but they were all kind of janky so I still want to figure something out there. If anyone has a suggestion or a tool let me know.

Sound wise, this update has most of fem Taylor's voice work completed. A few lines will probably be redone. I also worked trying to get the AI Taylor voice to produce a few background moan tracks for spicy scenes. The results were mixed. They range from what I consider OK/passable to not great. So I will probably tinker a bit more and then let patrons decide what should be used: one of the licensed sound effects I have or the AI. The licensed effects are higher quality for sure right now. I currently have most of the moan tracks disabled.

It has taken me way longer than I hoped to fully complete the conversion process from 3D so there are still a handful of art pieces that need to be swapped out but most of them have the base scene art done. New sprites for Mitch and some side characters like Jimmy will soon appear. I also replaced the Damien couch scene graphics and some TF stuff but I still have to paint in some variations for the rest of the scene flow.

There are a lot of things on my polish list that will pop in gradually over the next 2-3 months. These include things like adjusting some character sprites. For example, I noticed Taylor's female head on the spite seems a bit too large proportion wise. It looks sort of strange. I prefer the new TVT Taylor graphics.

The main question for both myself and the general audience is: what is going on with a launch?

The short answer to this is I don’t know. I am in some awkward behind the scenes discussions that I don’t want to talk about at the moment. I have a lot of admin work I'm trying to finish before the end of the month. This should unlock some more web pages and improve the financials of the company but the future is mainly going to be dictated by where I can sell my uncensored game.

I’m mainly focusing on the thing I can control: finishing Transfigure and packing it full of cool stories and art. The current Steam situation is dire. I have a plan but the previous plans were all derailed, so I have delayed releasing a public Transfigure build as I continue to refine the art get it as close to completion as possible.

The next release should be a good one. I'm close to unlocking some major branches. I'm also pushing hard for some never before seen content. Thank you for your patience and support!

Thanks, Jacob. I've worked on Mitch's route a lot this week. A decent chunk of the voice work is done already. I'm shooting for around 3 updates before the end of the year and they will include some of everyone's favorite asshole.

The Mitch routes are my absolute favourites. What is the ETA on finishing some of these such as Samantha's Dad's arc and the one under the football stadium? Love your stuff.

Hi AcidicHotwire. Thanks for supporting the project. The links for the Transfigure Visual Novel 007 are at the bottom of the post. They are available for all patrons regardless of tier. I'm not sure which content you're referring to specifically, but I will take a guess that it's the Taylor vs. Taylor content, because that branch is easy to miss. In the early game choose to hang around school, continue studying, cut through the park to access TvT. This route exists in the html too but a lot of people miss it. The Visual Novel is technically larger than the html game in terms of art count and story size and I am releasing new builds as I complete sections. The patch notes and blog should explain what's going on but feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Am I missing something? I enjoyed the HTML version of this game and decided to support this project but all I can find is a demo and a description of completed content I don't seem to have access to. Can you please direct me to the 0.0.7 version listed here? Do I need to be a higher tier or something?
