Hi Tango Fictioneers!

I am happy to announce a victory for freedom lovers everywhere - the age of payment processor tyranny has finally come to a close with the executive order from Trump. Everyone in the world is finally allowed to make legal artistic projects again without any weird arbitrary rules from payment processors like Patreon. As weird as it is to say, Trump saved us, but he only did so because our voices echoed throughout the world.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all those who stood up against this absurd level of control that bypassed democracy and stepped on the fundamental rights of thousands of people. This is a major win for gamers everywhere that value free speech, creative games and stories, and the economic rights that go along with that. It shows that all of us have immense power, especially as a group. Divided we fall, but united we are immortal and enduring. Together, we stood up to naked tyranny and we won for everyone’s benefit. Your ancestors would be proud and your descendants will have rights because of what you did.

It has been very hard living under these rules for almost a decade. I’ve seen a lot of people taken out behind the woodshed for wrong-think and the relief I feel as I get my rights returned to me is enough to make me weep with joy. Freedom is rejuvenating my soul. Thank you! Thank you so much! You saved my life. I get to be a game dev again! I am allowed to exist. I can express myself without fear of arbitrary retribution. I can make jokes! I can sell my legal products and buy food! Hurray! It is very wild that it got to this point but I am glad we stopped it before it was too late. I wish we would have banded together a decade ago - so many more games and pieces of great art would have been created in that world.

There are still a lot of very important censorship and freedom issues but it is obvious the internet will push back against such control. Seeing everyone so united is really inspiring. You are all far more amazing and powerful than you give yourself credit for!

Stay tuned for Transfigure - one of the most ambitious adult projects on the net. Uncensored. Controversial. Creative. Diverse. Extra-extra spicy 100% legal content.

P.S. Bonus: This post is flagged for pornography and Trust and Safety review, lol. Please read the EO before you ban me.

The order specifically mentions payment processors and from the description implies payment processors are considered financial services, which is true in my opinion. I agree it could be more clear but given the examples and the broad scope of the order, I am confident in disagreeing. The broadness flips the cartel rules, and now the vagueness is against them. Grok, chatgpt, and my legal council (and my own reading) also all align. All I need is Steam to be free again and they are an American company that specifically lobbied the president for this, so to act like Visa will somehow wiggle out is not realistic given how debanking works. PPs are a core feature of debanking and are described as such in the order because it doesn't matter if I am directly or indirectly debanked, it's still unlawful and still functionally the same to the person being debanked. The senate bill needs to be passed into law and there are a lot of other issues but this is a win. If you have specific objections or expertise in this field feel free to PM your concerns but I spent a day arguing before even posting this and since then it has only become more clear in that if the public takes something 99% one way and it is hugely popular I find it very unlikely they will be able to weasel their way out of this and maintain a power 100000x above Trump - who is an elected official who should not stand for that.

Tango, this isn't what you think it means. This is going to be exclusively focused on banks that didn't want to give the Orange One loans because he was financially insolvent or politically radioactive. Visa and Mastercard are not covered anywhere there at all, they'll have the lawyers and money to argue that they're not covered. They'll willingly throw banks under the bus to do so.

Sentimental Penguin

You should be able to create almost whatever you want as long as it is legal. I'd be cautious for the next little bit until they start to change the verbiage in the various TOS. They have 180 days but they can't legally arbitrarily debank people anymore. It may still happen especially with automated processes in the next couple weeks but we are essentially free or will be shortly. When you see Steam remove rule 15, that's a good safe bar. Patreon et al should follow suit because they were forced into this position originally and it makes no sense from their company pov to "empower creators" by forbidding a massive amount of art and creativity and make less money. It's good for their platform to let us be free and not live in fear. It's not perfect and permanent but we should be safe at least until the next US election. Good luck with your game!

Does... Does this finally mean what i think it means... does it mean i eont have to separate my game from my patreon, afraid to lose my livelihood due to spicy themes anymore Do you mean that i can just start being open and able to not live with the lingering fear of being banned for completely legal, and fictional works of art in a game for adults to enjoy? Because after this shitshow with itch and steam, it reminded me of patreon and the purge in the past. I pledged only for this, tell me what it means for my humble but ambitious spicygay furry lewd game.
