Promotional Materials Preview + Holiday Devlog

Hi Tango Fiction readers.

A new corporation has been set up and the admin work is mostly done so let’s preview some of the promo materials!

I have designed a pretty spiffy Steam page and rewrote the character synopsis area. I hope to show that off in the next update or two.

I’ve spent a lot of time this month rewriting everything to be as punchy as possible.

Before I can take final promotional screenshots I need to finalize a few ui elements and pick a font. I’ve narrowed the list down to finalists and patrons will shortly vote on which one gets used.

One of the trailers is essentially done and you can preview that below:

https://youtu.be/FuANXjYpV50

It includes the edited / remastered version of Badass Bambi. I think it turned out pretty good. It is catchy enough to be stuck in my head for the past month! Note: the video is currently private and for patrons only. The demo does not actually exist on Steam yet. Please let me know what you think.

The giant to-do list is very slowly shrinking. With all the base features in the game, I’ve looked into adding a couple minor UI presentation changes such as adding a basic phone messaging application since that device gets used several times in the story. The preliminary results are okay but I am going to mess around with it a bit before I make a decision to include it or not.

Within the story itself I have continued to edit and prune down some excessive choices into routes with less divergence from the ~100 endings I am shooting for in the final game. In the original concept Transfigure had 12 endings but I’m kind of “creatively dumb” so that turned into epic scope creep and 10x that number. Scope creep kills some games but it is also what makes some quality games what they are. I believe that readers and gamers want value and variety so I intend to give them what may very well be the most complex visual novel on the market.

So even though Transfigure has many times the amount of content I intended, there are few areas that never got added and in order to cap and finally complete the project some stories are getting rolled over into other games and comics. This way everything will get used and I can focus more on areas and endings that need attention.

I have started writing more frequently. I am having fun. I’m trying to get back in the groove to write more hours per month. Over the next few months I am going to brute force my way through the last few holdups and then the content backlog should be able to flow.

There are a bunch of minor developments that are hard to keep track of but here are a few tidbits. Rhea has a new high res model previewed in this post. I like her aesthetics but I might still tweak her eyes.

Over the next couple weeks I want to preview everything I’ve been building and release a lot of updates but I still have a lot of work to do. I need to make gifs, finish the demo, take screens, and I have to finish the game’s primary release trailer among a lot of other tasks.

In the main trailer I wrote and rewrote a script multiple times until I narrowed down what I think are some of the core elements of what makes Transfigure special beyond the average visual novel.

I should have another update out before the end of the year. A demo release and an html release are almost assured next month.

Talk to you all soon. Have a great day!

Good ideas! The main trailer is more of a traditional one with a preview of characters and features. I am trying to generate more SFW game art as well for the public facing bits. Thanks for the feedback, Darkman!

Well done on the preview! Catchy song. However, you should have the game or logo name plastered on the video IMO. Also, that first image is used for too long--need to switch to another image every so often, kind of like you do towards the of the clip. Lastly, in addition to the lyrics, maybe off to one side of the screen (alternating left & right maybe), you could have some tidbits about the game (ie. 12+ endings!, Voiced dialogue, 100% custom 3D artwork, etc.).
