3D Roundup

As I am putting the finishing touches on .60 html, I realize that I have built up a bunch of content without posting so rather than stress myself out and dump 10 posts after a long silence I am going to try and put out some of what I have since some of it is pretty cool!

I am releasing Craig and Tim’s model for comment as well as some other renders. I’ve also moved into more tests trying to make animations and videos to expand my game play narratives and VN experience. I included a music video in this post made from about a day of rendering and trying different codecs. Of course it was mainly just an excuse to see some animated booty!

I think Craig’s model turned out good but I’m less pleased with Tim. I made at least a dozen different variations of Tim but none are great. I am okay with the current one but I think he looks a bit older than intended.

I’ve also narrowed down one of the primary models for another game that I want to make after Transfigure.

The cute redhead is Hart, a man cursed with a connection to a goddess. The more he uses this connection and relies on his new magic, the magic gradually pushes Hart’s body to mirror the form of the goddess he is drawing from. Hart is pushed into several moral conundrums where he must either use his powers to help his friends or suppress them and pursue side quests centered around bridging the power gap with rare magical swords. In this manner, he can preserve his manhood and conquer the game by polishing his original fencing skills and pursuing different love interests.

I wrote a lot for it and I suspect it will be a much less complicated project than Transfigure. All the prep work is essentially done so it will just wait for Transfigure or more page funding. This game will be an experiment taking what I’ve learned the past few years in trying to make a quality game with a good story in a shorter amount of time without exponential scale creep. It has a much more focused cast and character group. If you interested in more details let me know otherwise I will keep it in reserve until I have more time to put into alternate projects.

No. Animation like the voice work is time consuming and an extra at the moment. Since I can animate now it is likely some special scenes may be animated. A lot of them are already faux animated, ie a series of cg scenes that as you scroll through are like a flip book. So it's like animation with 3 fps instead of 30. As of now it would take me years to fully recreate voice and animate Transfigure and I don't want it to take that long so I after the demo feedback I will assess what people want and what is feasible to produce with my budget.

Yeah, Tim feels off? I know models with black/dark skin are trickier to render properly because of lighting issues, but that does not seem to be the problem here. I think the issue is actually his eyes? His eyes look too stoner-y, and it seems to age him. Try different eye configurations that make his eyes be more attention-getting, because right now his eyes tend to disappear into his face.
