A fresh coat of paint! The Transfigure Editing Blitz

Adding content to Ren Py allows me another chance to read through and edit it. This has led to a major round of polish editing for the whole game. I’ve caught a lot of errors that shouldn’t exist at this point. At first I was updating all of the changes to the html version but that was becoming too slow for each inconsequential tiny fix so I switched to just adding major corrections to the html. Now that I have a new system I might return to syncing more edits but this will lead to one of the biggest differences between the two versions.

The new version is objectively better edited. It overlaps almost completely but it will contain some new dialogue lines as well as generally better edits and readability.

This means all of the written content in the game will get a fresh coat of paint.

I’ve already added a lot of the edits to the intro content as well as Evan’s route, Damien’s route, and Mitch’s route.

On the 3D front, I now have a fully functional workstation! Now that I can render quickly, I’ve started practicing in earnest and have been trying to get an efficient production process. It’s been kind of hit or miss. There’s a big learning curve but I am up for it!

I now have a demo model for Damien and Samantha. The first two "sams" I made didn't give me a Sam vibe but this one does. She's got high levels of shyness, cuteness, and beauty.

Previous models have been tweaked with patron feedback but I still have a few things I want to touch up, namely some skin textures and facial alterations.

One weird thing about Damien’s model (and some others) is he has blond hair but it looks dramatically different in various lighting conditions. Same for the skin textures. Some look like they slept in a tanning bed for a month or are so pale they reflect the sun. I think I found a solution for the major issues but it’s still not perfect.

My goal for this month is to release .59, get a fat block of written content added to Ren Py, and to get to the point where I can create all of the characters I need.

I also got part of the 3D title page done. I experimented with different resolutions, so this is the high rez version. I'm not really sure if it matters or not but I think a lot of people have really large high quality monitors so why not?

Please leave me some feedback if you have any. It does help improve the game!

Thank you both for the specific recommendations and observations. It helps a bunch! I know a lot of devs take negative feedback as a personal slight but we're all on the same team with the same goal. Sam's not supposed to be a milf so I will do some more experiments.

Not Harley, but now that she pointed it out, I can see it. Your current Sam render has a mature/mannish face, especially around the mouth/chin/jaw area. Softening her jawline, giving her more rounded surfaces there, and making her top lip bigger might help.

Thanks for the input, Harley. I added another closeup picture of Sam. Look at and tell me if you still get a MILF vibe. I don't think she looks old but maybe that's just me.

To me Sam, looks like a milf. Not that I complain, but I think a more soft doll like face would suit sam better. Maybe make her look a bit younger to?, like female version of taylor?.

Interesting! I never noticed the Damien reference picture since the reference pic only shows up, like, once? Bratz dolls are terrifying Barbie rip offs.

I used the reference photo from the html game for Damien. His skin tone is off and the face needs to be a bit narrower but a lot of the features are fairly accurate I think including the chin. Your feedback has been invaluable though! I want my game to look as good as possible so now is the time to change things and learn. Now I have to google Bratz Doll.

Looking more at Damien, he needs either a softer jawline, or a less wider jaw, but maybe not both as that might make him look too feminine? Test out the variations, we want him to not look too much like a ripped fitness model. And further evaluation of YP Taylor is that her head proportions are kinda wrong for her body, making her look a bit like a Bratz doll. You will need to decrease the height of her head/shrink the features a bit to make it look more proportional for her.

Thanks for the feedback, Sentimental Penguin!

Is this supposed to be Damien? His jaw looks a little bit too chiseled for being a science geek. And is the 4th image supposed to be yellow potion Taylor? Her forehead is too huge and her jaw is too square to be "cute", which Yellow Potion Taylor is supposed to be. I suggest giving her a softer jaw, and a hairstyle that looks cuter and reduces the amount of real estate on her forehead? In general showing forehead seems to age people, I don't know why but that's how it works.
