The Trial of Dicks
Added 2022-12-20 02:18:17 +0000 UTCThis isn’t the story about a court case where a bunch of politicians go to jail or a gay hazing challenge, no, this is the tale of how I spent more than two weeks of my life learning how to make genitalia. I did this because I want my game to look as appealing as possible and because a lot of 3D models do not have genitals, genital textures, or a reasonable way to make any realistic modifications.
So I spent some money. I scoured forums. I watched tutorials. I downloaded mods. I experimented. I remember I spent an entire day trying to get Mr. Deter to not have a cardboard penis. It was at this time I realized I have a truly strange job. I failed that day but I wasn’t discouraged because I still had a dozen things to try. When I exhausted those leads the next day, I researched more and finally I ended up with a working system and the ability to create aesthetic genitalia for various characters.
This should pay off in the coming years. There are still a few texture modification and blending tricks I need to try out but they aren’t necessary at the moment now that I have some basic models.
In the examples below (or above?) you can see the differences between what I consider the three tiers of quality:
The default anatomy with loosely matched skin textures, the weird looking but popular purple headed monster of choice of most 3D adult artists of the past few years, and the hugely upgraded and expanded version of the previous system with a lot of mods.
I also looked through a lot of the best 3D art on the net and made notes so I’m trying to raise my game as quickly as possible to those higher levels.

2022-12-20 03:07:14 +0000 UTCA big issue with Daz that I've encountered is that the there's only so much can do to modify the assets, and the good ones are paywalled (or hidden in a questionable download site that might give your computer digital AIDS). Blender is a lot easier to make and customize your own models, and animate them, and people tend to dump assets for free.

I know there are bridge programs to help with asset transfer between most of the popular formats so things can get moved around if need be but I don't know how effective those conversions are yet since I haven't tested it.

2022-12-20 02:46:48 +0000 UTCI'm taking the time to learn Blender, since the ceiling of what you can do with it is higher than with Daz. Daz is easy to pick up, but you will eventually run into the limits of the system.
