Q: Why the heck is gender bending so hot?

A:I think many people naturally desire things that they cannot have. The grass is always greener on the other side of the river. This almost innate craving exists in a large percentage of people. In my opinion, this attitude is tied to the reasons why opposites seem to attract in many relationships. A person that is submissive usually desires someone much stronger and much more dominant, ie traits that they don’t possess but covet nonetheless, as is true for the other partner. I think in nature there is a natural symbiosis of this idea. Men and women evolved to have different roles and traits but they also admire and desire each other and their various attributes as well.

I once read that the mouth of the Mona Lisa was painted as a both frown and a smile. The other writer argued that this subtle contradiction is part of the allure of the painting. There is something extra there, a deepness where if you one looks at it closely they are slowly drawn in.

I think some gender bending mechanics work the same way. At a glance a generic porn picture: Oh, two people are having sex. That is a common image on the net. But if you add a giant arrow pointing to the hot chick getting banged that says “this is a former dude.” Well wow. Suddenly something mundane becomes almost shocking and provocative. It stands out and adds a story to what is going on. Some people might even get mad at such an image. They found the woman attractive and now the image is “tainted” because they are made uncomfortable by the fact that their arousal either didn’t decline, or worse, increased.

Maybe one of Mr. Deter’s conspiracies is actually true?

Perhaps the gender bending is just the final icing or twist on an already delicious cake.
