Q: How much of Transfigure is real and based on true stories?

A: ‘O.o All of Transfigure’s stories are “real,” even the ones that are obviously untrue!

But, in all seriousness, Transfigure is a work of fiction. While it does take inspiration from the world and of course the person writing it rubs but, I think that is a ubiquitous trait with fiction.

There are a few scenes that are formed from personal experience and they are usually ones that generate some complaints or controversy for various reasons. An example is the school protest scene that I often take flak for. That’s a heavily exaggerated scene from real life that is then heavily embellished with my own direct personal experience, even if some find it unrealistic. It is a bit amusing since in my mind these rare scenes are the most realistic.

Another scene that is often derided as unrealistic but is actually “real” or at least heavily based upon real events is the hospital date on Drew’s arc. Sadly (or fortunately!) there were no ghosts encountered by Tango and the original events were fairly tame… and romantic :P.  I just take issue with the idea people can’t go on an unconventional date and have fun. Dinner dates are a dime a dozen.

Writing this post made me recall a really romantic date I had once. The dinner was nice and the wine was good but it was the commute home that made the evening special. I remember dancing playfully on top of subway benches, with a beautiful green-eyed beauty held in my arms. I was elated when we missed our train and were able to extend that grand moment for a little bit longer.

Just a memory that made me smile... maybe that can be woven into a story one day?

Thanks for reading!

Oh and thanks for the comment! I started a new Peeshi branch recently that I think you will like.

I think DARPA already has the Transfigure app :P Of course Transfigure is science fiction, but it does contain elements of real life and my personal experiences. Generally these Q/A questions are paraphrased questions and comments from readers. This one is a two parter dealing with comments that certain realistic scenes are unrealistic and vice versa, which led to an interesting question as I got around to explaining how I based some scenes on real events. One final thing I will say is that a lot of the new content coming will deal with technology that does not yet exist but assuredly will... one day. Science fiction is fiction until it inspires the discoveries and inventions that make it fact. One question I am going into a lot of detail on is: what would happen if Transfigure's technology became widely available and accepted. This has huge societal implications and not all of them are positive.

has someone really asked if it's based on true stories? this is a story where our main protagonist can gain the ability to change their appearance... long since left the realms of "based on true story"
