General Poll: Protestor Scene

Thanks for the feedback, Ders. I do really appreciate it. I was playing Tropico last night and I think that is a good mental picture of what I am trying to do. Political factions exist in the game and they behave a lot like the real political factions, but they are exaggerated for a humorous effect. It works too, the game is quite funny and well made. Politics will always exist because it represents human interaction and creates more realistic characters (imo). I definitely don't want to go overboard, I just want to portray some interesting dynamics within the core story. The Transcorp guys and their competitors will definitely fit into the "evil capitalist" mode that I think will (and do) define a lot of corporate executive types. I really enjoy writing characters like Lucas and Deter, even if I would never be friends with either of them irl.

I may have not expressed myself well; my issue is not that the positions taken are themselves offensive to me (I largely agree with most of the ones highlighted), I'm not offended on behalf of communists, or feminists, or joe biden fans lol. It just conjures up those kinds of pointless shallow internet american politics arguments that the internet is rife with, and that's just a personal boner killer. And to be clear, I'm not at all demanding that your story cater to my particular tastes. You write your story however you want to write it, and I'll feel however I feel about it. I just noticed you were asking for perspectives and offered my own.

I don't like or want Taylor to have explicit political leanings either and I don't think he does. He just makes judgements on observations like everyone else. So his experiences determine his opinions. Most people Taylor's age are apolitical. For the record, feminists and communists are very intelligent, they are just also very hypocritical and illogical. I think they are good people that are misguided, fighting for things that objectively make society worse (while they think they are improving things). Plus even my commie friends acknowledge that Biden is a level 10 creeper who has sniffed a lot of little girls, so it seemed appropriate for the yellow potion route :P As for the other characters - they WILL/do have more concrete politics based on their personalities and bios. Originally when I first started putting Transfigure together, I planned to include nothing offensive but I realized during development that since the story can go in nearly any direction, the only way to avoid the possibility of offending anyone is to just do 4 vanilla routes and never release any other content because it will evidently offend someone. If I have to go full PC mode on this anti PC story, it destroys the whole purpose of what I am trying to do with all these narratives. In the end, I am creating Transfigure for a general audience but I have to follow my own creative direction (and moral compass) or it will never get finished properly. I have only included about 1% of the comedy scenes since only half the audience seems to enjoy them. As for the future, I think the easiest solution is just to make certain content skippable. The last thing I will say is that at 350,000 words I almost guarantee there is something a given person will like and dislike, so it isn't really feasible to cater to individual tastes for every single route. I just hope, on balance it is an enjoyable experience.

Honestly, I really don't enjoy when characters have explicit political leanings in my porn games. I don't want to read that Taylor thinks feminists are stupid, or that communists are idiots, or that Joe Biden is creepy. Instantly kills the mood for me. Paths that contain stuff like that and rape/violence are ones that I just skip entirely

subtle wont make a difference really at this point in the world. people get offended because you try and be a good person for stupid reasons

Honestly I don't care either way, but if people get offended you might as well make it more subtle in my opinion, since it isn't really vital to the story anyways. That said leave it as is is winning big time so.
