Q: Where did the name "Transfigure" come from?
Added 2018-06-12 04:40:06 +0000 UTCThe somewhat odd (but true) answer?
As a writer, I love words, history, and art from across the world, but in the case of of Transfigure, its name came from the product of more than just vocabulary. The name came directly from me writing while also going on a historical bender. I am a civil war buff, so as I was rewatching a documentary replaying one of my favorite battles, I was struck by a really impressive rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. At the time I was looking for a striking, transformative title. There was an awesome instant at the end of the song where everything coalesced together-- I was struck by a lightning bolt of inspiration and I knew I had found not just a good title but a great one that would inform my work for the next two years... and probably far into the future.
Many things can change your life. Including a song.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps,
His day is marching on.
I have read His fiery gospel writ in rows of burnished steel!
"As ye deal with my condemners, so with you My grace shall deal!
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel, "
Since God is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him; be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me;
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free!
While God is marching on.
My takeaway? Inspiration comes from your experience and whatever you feed your mind - well, you are what you eat, right?
Thank you for reading,

Oh yes, a Whitworth would be sweeeeet, with the scope on it. I bet that would cost a billion dollars though LOL. I'd also like to have a Rogers and Spencer, and a Henry rifle (though probably a reproduction so I could still get ammunition that works in it).
