Rerecord Battle: What (Taylor’s Version) Songs Missed The Mark?

This Video has been scheduled ahead of time as we will be on a holiday as you are reading this ☺️ We hear a lot of swifties with opinions on this topic and we want to flesh it out a little, just a reminder that we think the rerecords are PERFECTION.... but we also can admit that maybe some songs aren't quite the same. I know I’m a month late but i think one of the more interesting aspects of the TV project is how difficult it is to catch lightning in a bottle twice and how difficult it is to make a truly great record. It’s not just about recreating the same sounds from the same instruments or synths, or hitting the same notes vocally, so much more goes into it. The size of the room, the objects of the room, the acoustics, the humidity, how any of the musicians/taylor/producers were feeling in the moment when they recorded. That cannot be replicated and it really puts into perspective how perfect they got it the first time. Now that we can ethically listen to both the originals and TVs, it’s fun to think about all of the little changes that impact the re-recording. Maybe the mic stand was in a different position from the original recording and its proximity to another instrument in the room caused the reverb to change the energy of a song. It is so fascinating! I hope one day we get some sort of documentary following not just the emotional journey of re-recording these albums, but the production side of it as well. Great video!

2025-07-18 14:20:21 +0000 UTCas a speak now stan since 2010 i really don’t understand the criticism taylor’s version gets, i agree with you bonny and emily i think she sounds great, the production is great etc. the only thing that is meh is the lyric change in better than revenge but even that doesn’t bother me as much as it does with everyone else. now with new romantics i have also been a stan since it came out and it just doesn’t have that same punch feeling as the original to me at least but nonetheless i still listen to both now. with style, taylors version just isn’t it for me, there’s so much depth and thought and punch in the original that i just can’t bother with taylor’s version. i appreciate it for what it is but it’s probably the only taylor’s version song i refuse to listen to now that she owns everything! that and we are never ever getting back together for sure

It's great how everyone has been listening to her albums ever since she announced that she bought her masters. Have you been hearing the numbers? Emily I see you struggling a little bit. I hope you were able to enjoy your vacation. I love you guys so much.

2025-06-04 12:27:51 +0000 UTCBonny I agree about ‘New Romantics’ I have also always been a huge huge stan of the OG (it’s the crux of 1989 in my opinion) but the second I heard Taylor’s version I knew something wasn’t quite right but I didn’t know how to place my finger on it and I don’t listen to Taylor’s version as much at all anymore🥲 I think I always felt like the production of the chorus threw me off tbh, but it doesn’t matter now cause we can all stream the OG too now 😭😭😭😭😭
