Also maybe Loverfest was going to be so low key because Joe didn’t want her in the spotlight too much? She seems to be the one who made ALL the compromises in that relationship. She was holding herself back which was good and necessary at the beginning. But when she wanted to come back, it seems like she wasn’t her full self for the whole time.

2024-03-12 23:42:25 +0000 UTCNot sure this has been said yet, but I really feel like Taylor won’t change the setlist to include an era for Tortured Poets whether that’s taking current songs away for a TTPD era or adding a TTPD era without removing anything. I feel this way because I don’t think it’s fair for people who have been anticipating their show for a year and a half (if they haven’t gone to any so far) and the show to be changed. I also think there’s a lot of symbolism with the Lover House burning down and the fact that the house only contains her first 10 eras. However, think Taylor will do something as an acknowledgment of Tortured Poets whether that be playing a TTPD song as 1 of the 2 surprise songs or tacking on an additional song to the acoustic set just for Tortured Poets songs (see comment by Ashley Summers).

Anyone that hasn’t see the Eras Tour yet will still get to experience the tour just like everyone else but there’s still a nod to Tortured Poets since it’s a new album and Taylor seems really excited about it.

I do find it hard to believe she would ADD to an already 3.5 hour show but it would be illegal to not include at least part of it (although see debut set). I don’t think or want her to dedicate the secret songs to TTPD because it’s become such a wonderful tradition to guess what she’ll do, but I think having at least one song from TTPD acoustic could work well. It also depends on the vibe of the album!! Anyway I cannot wait to fathom it all with you guys 💕

She will be deleting the surprise song part and add the TTPD era there, and keep the rest 3. She will not modify anything and sing the TTPD music as surprise songs. Like 1 music of TTPD and the other a mashup of 2 songs from other albums Literally have things to say about all this theories as to why that probably won’t happen but I can’t think of other alternatives 😂😅

Yes, the last time she was there was in a half-empty room (with less than 4,000 people) for the Speak Now tour; and maybe that's why she took so long to come back 😂 I knew, I never got the opportunity to see Taylor as a teenager cause I didn't live in a big city like Paris or Lyon, but I had not fathomed, that she didn't even come.

Coincidentally ‘landside’ was the song on her birthing playlist that was playing when Stevie arrived. Beyond tragically, Stevie was diagnosed with brain cancer during Covid and passed away within a couple of months, and also coincidentally, landslide was the song playing when Stevie slipped away. My sister in law, a hospital coordinator, experienced crushing anxiety, depression and fatigue during the pandemic. I appreciate so much that Taylor wrote a song that reflects her experience, and made the connection between what her grandfather might have experienced many years ago, and what our first responders went through during our own time. It’s a widely ignored song but it resonates so hard with me. Why it was paired with Mirrorball I have no idea! I’ll be working to fathom that during the next six weeks while I wait for Tortured Poets.

Taylor processed my pandemic trauma as a physician and gave me epiphany, and for that reason it is my absolute favorite/most special song. And she was the mirrorball giving us that! I literally burst into tears seeing this mashup live!! Epiphany is always what I would say if people asked what I hoped to get for my secret song but never thought we would! 😭. Taylor really just wrecked me emotionally and then peaced out for two months 😂✌️

She does a lot to make the Folklore and Evermore songs feel like tour songs, so it might take quite a bit to keep the vibe of the show going. (Long Live she could mostly just stand and sing, for example, vs all the choreo with Willow) All things being equal she probably adds the TTPD era and adds a whole extra round of US shows. (So she can release the rest of the re-records?) But also would like to see what the next kind of tour looks like.

But I may have found that link. I looked more in to the origin of the word Epiphany. Epiphany, from a Biblical standpoint, literally means “to shine upon”. Light is the symbol of epiphany. I’m not a religious person, but the word has more religious origins as People look up to the skies for inspiration and guidance, and a LIGHT shines down upon them to guide them, this light is the epiphany. This is similar to a mirrorball, shining up high for each individual, each individual sees in it what they need and what they want and the light from the mirrorball shows people guides them. I think from that standpoint, Mirrorball and Epiphany do go together. In this context, she is saying that she is guiding everyone, she is their epiphany, providing the light when they need it.

To me it was an homage to the trauma we experienced during covid (hold your hand through plastic now/doc I think she’s crashing out) and how taylor and her music are there to bring that “one single glimpse of relief.” Her transition into “and they called off the circus, burned the disco down” referring to when the world stopped, and yet she was still there writing and creating for us. She is a mirrorball !!! And I feel like it applies beyond covid like we turn to Taylor in difficult times and she is like “with you I serve with you I fall down” and “I'm still on that tightrope / I'm still trying everything to get you laughing at me” 🥹🥹🥹 like IS ANY OF THIS MAKING SENSE TO YOU because I am having a moment and I cannot even articulate what I’m trying to say but wow wow those two songs together have me 🥹😭🤧🥰

2024-03-10 02:53:47 +0000 UTCI can’t even listen to Epiphany without crying. My grandpa was a WW2 vet who died of COVID in March of 2020. I work in a hospital and my unit turned into a COVID unit. I wasn’t able to hold my grandpas hand while he was dying due to restrictions, but I made sure to hold on tight to my patient’s hands as they lay their dying without their families. It felt so lonely during that time, but me and my coworkers clung to each other and tried to keep hope. Epiphany summarizes all those feelings so well, but remains very difficult to listen to. The mashup with mirrorball was so unexpected and beautiful. Epiphany's "With you I serve, with you I fall down" adds so well to Mirrorball's message. Yes, we look to her and find pieces of ourselves in her music, but she is watching us too... "Watch you breathe in, watch you breathing out". God, it just sums up her whole outlook on her music so well, and WHY she is willing to be the mirrorball. Honestly was cathartic to listen to.

But I guess the only link between the two songs is they’re pandemic songs, but the melodies or themes just don’t work together for me. I just think mirrorball x cowboy like me, or mirrorball x timt could have been sooo amazing as an alternative. Or honestly, even just Epiphany on it’s own to have it’s moment. My Fathomings: -Tim McGraw x Cowboy Like Me- Back to the beginning with Tim McGraw feels like a call back to what she says at the start of the show.. “After this, when you hear these songs out in the world, I hope you’re gonna think about the memories we made here tonight.” - Tim McGraw, at its heart, is a celebration of the role music plays in our memories. It’s a reminder to hold on to the music while she is on break. To me, Cowboy Like Me is about seeing someone who for they truly are and loving all of them. Sometimes we have to hide parts of ourselves from the world in order to make it, which can make us feel like pretenders, like no one really sees us. I imagine she feels that even more as an entertainer/performer living life in the public eye, and so have/do most of the people she’s had relationships with, including Travis. As a message to fans, it feels like she’s saying she sees us - she understands what we’re feeling because she feels it too. That’s why she keeps writing music, so we make memories with it. Following Cowboy Like Me with Mirrorball is clever! They have similar vibes to them in my mind. -Mirrorball x Epiphany- I needed almost an hour to recover after this illegal mash up. I feel like it was an acknowledgement of the beginning of the pandemic, given that this coming week 4 years ago is when it escalated around the world. And also another reminder that even while she’s on break and whatever emotions we experience when TTPD is released, she’s thinking about us and will always be here to help get us through with her music.

I think Tim McGraw and mirrorball closes this version of the Eras Tour the way it began in Glendale, and she has memorialized it with the video on Disney Plus, so we will get something new in Paris. 2. I still remember thinking all would be quiet in September and October and how wrong I was, so I would not be surprised if things happened on this break. 3. As a suggestion, Jack has been doing publicity for the new Bleachers album, including a Zane Lowe interview and a Drew Barrymore appearance that I have seen, plus others I have not had a chance to watch yet. He is just so Jack, it is really worth watching them, and it would be cool if you watched them with us. You might react to the Bleachers album too, as it feels a bit like Jack took this project more seriously than he ever has before. I'm so glad we got epiphany, a hidden gem if any Taylor song could ever be called hidden. And we will love whatever you do for us!

2024-03-10 01:02:37 +0000 UTClol Emily being bitter about Taylor saying she’ll be tricksy 🤣 I think maybe we set our expectations too high cuz I look back on when she said that and we had no idea about 1) surprise songs 2) album announcements 3) premiering music videos, or 4) adding long live and temporarily adding Nothing New and No Body No Crime so to be fair I think that all counts as a little tricksy 😉 but I fully believe she’ll add a TTPD section to the set because in the movie speech she says “you’ve released FIVE albums since your last tour” and “what are you gonna do, have a 3.5 hour set?” And I think most of her concerts right now run about 3hr to 3hr 15min so I think she was hinting at the 5th album since her last tour being TTPD and increasing the set to 3.5hr. 🤷🏼♀️

In terms of things to do one thing that’s interesting is the subtle changing of the angles and shots of the tour. I wasn’t aware until going back to ur original viewing of the full tour but things like the hat receiver are much better captured now. I guess this might be Scott’s doing? In addition the comment by Em at 1:14 in the full tour reaction (28 Mar2023) in addition to the Lover speech at 15 minutes is amazing! Would love to see a reaction to those two moments in that order from you guys!

2024-03-10 00:57:34 +0000 UTCMy fathomings on the Mirrorball x Epiphany mashup is that they're not a TTPD hint or a nod towards the setlist potentially changing, but rather they're meant as a dedication of love and thanks to the fans for everything that they've done to support her since she first released Folklore back in 2020. The final Singapore show was the closest show date to two major impactful milestones: one year of the Eras Tour (March 18th), and four years since the US officially went into lockdown (March 15/16th). Taylor's spoken in LPSS about how Mirrorball and Epiphany are the only songs off Folklore to directly lyrically address that time period, and how Mirrorball specifically was written when she found out all of her Loverfest shows were cancelled. Mirrorball in general has been strongly associated with her love of performing, and how much she truly loves and cherishes the attention and support we give her as fans. That fact, coupled with the general knowledge that she thought of writing Folklore as a "floatation device" to get her through a pandemic where she couldn't perform, and the fact that Mirrorball was the first surprise song ever performed for the Eras Tour, makes me think that this mashup was dedicated to the fans for their continuous love, and especially thanking them for all the love and support that's been shown since Folklore released and the Eras Tour started. And to go even further, Tim McGraw/Cowboy Like Me also sort of falls along these lines, too. You can potentially read this pairing of songs as her nodding towards the way fans embraced her first album, the excitement they brought to the Eras Tour from day one, and the mastermind-esque, tricksy relationship she herself has with us ("I've got some tricks up my sleeve). I love that you can easily look at both these mashups as simple thematic pairs--country vibes and pandemic nods--but can also read into them and see the deep love and happiness Taylor is feeling right now. 🤍

Makes me think she might make changes to the show for tortured poets but not sure. Coincides with the show coming to streaming so also supports the idea she might change it.
