Shamrock Holdings bought them over two years ago; Braun paid $330 million for all four Big Machine labels, and all their masters (you can look up the artists on Wikipedia -- there are a LOT of big names). Taylor's music was supposed to be an estimated $140M of the total of the value, which included all the pricey real estate and property of the company. And, left Borchetta in charge of the new subsidiary. Shamrock paid $300M just for Taylor's masters, in the belief they could negotiate ad/movie syncing rights, which she denied to Braun's Ithaca Holding company (using her songwriter copyright). But, the purchase deal Shamrock made had some kickbacks to Braun if sales exceeded set limits; and Taylor did negotiate, but they couldn't exclude Braun entirely, which killed the deal. Roy Disney (Walt Disney's nephew) started Shamrock Holdings when the family sold their stake in the Disney Corporation. I don't know the kids names who inherited it.

Can hope it is restored if/when the film goes to streaming.

First, Braun does not own her masters. Ithaca Holdings sold them to Shamrock Holdings after less than a year, for $300M (they were supposed to be worth $140M of the $330 million Ithaca paid for the entirety of Big Machine (with artists like: Reba McIntyre, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and around a hundred other artists; including, for a while, that Keith Urban guy). And, Ithaca/Braun was supposed to get a percentage if sales exceeded certain limits. Shamrock is suing Ithaca, trying to get some of their money back now. She recorded when she performed them, so I think she owns everything in the movie. I know Joe is credited though, because he wrote lyrics on songs in the film. I really don't think Scooter is making anything off of this. Either she owns it because by releasing the film commercially the live version of everything in the film is now hers. Or, she made a deal and got her masters, which explains 1989 TV being the first and only to have the name on the CD. it makes a lot of sense releasing the movie now, though, making sure what she plays is owned by her before going internationally, where IP law is different than in the US.

I really don't think scootscoot is profiting from eras tour movie because she's not using the masters of the stolen version. She's basically rerecorded live (live vocals and instruments) the songs from her albums which now she has the right to rerecord as much as she wants. She doesn't need to publish an album in order to publish a live recording of these songs if that makes sense.

I saw the movie last night (couldn't get tickets for Friday) and it was ICONIC! I have not gone to the show, so this was fantastic! I was up on my feet for most of it ( I took a little rest during Folklore and Evermore) and lost my voice a few times, because I forgot to drink my water (too busy singing!) I loved the transitions between eras, the camera work was great, the SNAKE was fantastic! I personally was upset over Long Live. It just makes Speak Now way too short. I also wasn't thrilled about Cardigan being cut, as Folklore has never been toured and that's the one single. The others I can live with. I still loved the whole experience though! I'm going again in 2 weeks! Oh, and I gave away a ton of friendship bracelets! It was fun hanging out with other Swifties before the show!

I think the reasons she cut those certain songs is because for all of them she just singing. there's not much actually happening on the stage in terms of dancing, her backup dancers, ect... like cutting LGAD wouldn't have made sense because there's SO MUCH happening on stage during that song

One thing I haven’t seen anyone talk about yet that I noticed is that during the credits when all the songs are listed, none of them include (Taylor’s Version) after them except for Long Live TV as the credit song. The more concerning thing is that all the reputation songs are stylized in all lowercase (“delicate,” “look what you made me do” etc). Every other album has the songs stylized correctly (“Style,” “willow,” etc.)…. Do we think rep TV will have all the track titles in all lowercase???

I also think some of it felt rushed. I understand cutting time between eras. It was the beginning that I feel missed the anticipation from being there when that clock slowly disappears, dancers slowly walk around, circle up, and then THERE SHE IS OMG OMG OMG. I truly believe that if the pandemic hadn’t happened then Taylor might not have reached this level of popularity. Ppl were really hurting and struggling during that time, and Folklore came out of nowhere like one big hug. I think Folklore really touched a lot of ppl emotionally, and made non-fans finally respect her. Loved this, but I don't think you are right that she has to pay Scooter, Any recording of the song counts as a rerecord, including a live performance. The issue with the AMAs in 2019 was that she was still contractually bound not to rerecord yet--those days are over now, and she is completely free to perform the songs with no royalties going to Scooter. He owns the past performances, and that's all. (And he actually sold them, of course)

Just so you know, she doesn't have to pay when she performs her songs live. She owns the publishing rights. SB only profits from the original master recorded songs. He profits from the songs if/when the OG versions are bought/streamed, which usually happens until she releases a TV.

I have to say though, I was very disappointed about Long Live being cut. That was not necessary and a bit rude. Especially while keeping the whole Red set and Bad Blood😉😂 Reputation however was life altering😍 I might go and watch it a second time, because everyone was standing for the entirety of the second half, which was fun but also a bit stressful. I'm looking forward to see it live next year and get the full experience.

This was so fun to watch after going to see the movie last night!! Omg guys I was absolutely screaming at the transitions into each era but the Reputation one! I was ABSOLUTELY SHOOK it was giving Karyn in Rep tour. I’m still buzzing today after seeing it. I am really sad about Long Live (in particular), Wildest Dreams and Cardigan being cut tbh. I really wanted to experience that live Long Live performance moment! In case it’s not still on the setlist when she comes to the UK. But still, absolutely offensive visuals, vocals, performances, just everything!! Hoping to go and see it again soon! We had so much fun in our cinema. Everyone was singing and cheering, trading bracelets and dancing in their seats. No one actually stood up until Karma at the end though which I was grateful for because I’d got myself nice and comfy with my snacks 😂🍿🥤

Got to see the movie last night. Was really fun and the theater seemed to take a little bit to figure out it was ok to sing & dance but by the time we got to Blank Space & Shake It Off, it was pretty crazy in there. Yep, so it was a lot of fun.

Love the vlog! I’m seeing the movie tonight with some friends and we are so pumped! I just cannot believe that she cut out long live!!!! I didn’t get to see that live and in person so I was looking forward to seeing it on the big screen and now knowing it’s out makes me want to cry! Like why?! Cutting Cardigan & Wildest dreams kinda makes sense to me because nothing goes on performance wise in Cardigan. She just moves around in the stage. Same with The Archer. And the Wildest Dreams is not even a full performance she just keeps repeating the bridge. But cutting Long Live is a CRIME !

I went to the movie with 3 friends who are not swifties and they nearly died at the Reputation Era and her dive into midnights Era as they haven't seen any of it. It was a fantastic experience with friends and I even got my first friendship bracelet 💜

Watched the first previews on Thursday and it was me, the 7 year olds and their grandparents, so not that much singing along/dancing (but I managed to get the merch cup AND an AMC employee traded friendship bracelets with me/ gave me the AMC bracelet!!!) Tonight though I saw the 930pm showing with my friends in the biggest auditorium in Seattle (>300 people)... and multiple dance parties broke out. The front of the cinema was CROWDED with people dancing. it was SO FUN. And then I came home and watched your video!! So happy. I love the community Taylor gives us.

Thank you for bringing us along! I think something I hadn’t fathomed is that in the US, this felt more like a victory lap. Lots of people wearing tour merch, trading bracelets, and reminiscing. Whereas other countries this is their first experience of it, so they are just soaking it up. It’s overwhelming!

Yay!! This was so fun to watch right after seeing it myself!! It was AMAZINF! Reputation really is that bitch. To answer a couple questions you mentioned: -The whole clique snapped is a Beyonce lyric -Travis was never gonna be able to go to the premiere because of his football schedule (but he apparently bought her a vintage Chiefs jacket and a Taylor Swift prayer candle 😆) As for releasing the movie while still on tour - Scooter sold her masters a while ago so it’s not goin to him. Meanwhile, Taylor’s making 57% profits off the movie so the reward is worth it! That said - it concerns me for changes on the international tour (and another movie?!) New outfits at least? Something to keep it fresh? If she just does a few setlist changes, she can eventually work the new songs + the cut songs into an extended version on streaming 🤞🏼

I just saw the movie last night and I agree with all your observations. It was incredible, especially since I haven’t been to the tour. We went to our local movie theater and it was packed lol a lot of fun with everyone singing along and yelling all the things (123 let’s go bitch etc) the hubby and I agreed that the Rep era was the best, but every era slayed. I told him on the drive home about you guys going and I was hoping you’d do a video, and here it is at 4 am when I just happen to be awake 😄 love you both and I hope Emily feels back to 100% soon 💗 you both looked gorgeous!
