I’ve been really struggling with being kind to the tay-children - the young artists who have/had Taylor’s favour (and my seeing them as riding her fame which makes me dislike them without giving them a chance). How do you separate the feelings of people taking advantage of Taylor’s reputation? Whether it turns out badly (Olivia) or good for them (Gracie). This album is so beautiful, I wish I listened to it sooner

As a POC, I definitely view lacy as being about the experience of growing up as a POC in a society with very Eurocentric beauty standards. Obviously any read of this song is valid, but so much of the language in lacy feels like it's about being jealous of your white friends and white girls who can meet those beauty standards in a way that you can't, because you weren't born to. They were designed to exclude you. The biggest examples are "skin like puff pastry," "eyes white as daisies," "Bardot reincarnate," and "made of angel dust." And while I would never want to put words in Olivia's mouth or speak on her experience for her, I do wonder how being biracial affects this experience

I always felt like it was about Sabrina, but this might confirm it… I also feel like it’s about Taylor in a round about way because of the line “you’ve got the one thing that I want”… it must be so hard to see Sabrina be so close with Taylor like I’m sure Olivia always imagined and hoped for.

This is just a suggestion, but I wonder if there is a "Youtube consultant" out there who might understand the parameters and could advise you? I think Bonny at least has met Ally Sheehan, and she might have some suggestions. Just a thought, because it is a shame not to have this publicly accessible. Also, I second Hannah above about reacting to Olivia's Live Lounge (and maybe Grammy museum) performances too.
