I was so wrong obviously but it made me disconnect from her immediately... it took me 15 years after that to become a fan!! So sad haha

I think it's pretty obvious though because it was the night she changed to The 1 (I was very surprised lol) and her first surprise song was sad,beautiful,tragic. 2023-09-12 18:45:47 +0000 UTCi always come back to the thoughts of like even if they were together during this time it could’ve been a hard night/day or even just songs like white horse bringing up some emotion if things hadn’t been great and the potential fear factor coming up for her. i feel like it’s pretty easy to hide the stress and be happy for most of the day when your relationship is dying (speaking from experience🤪 + you’re losing me reference lol) but then it can sneak out and i feel like that could be this for sure

Taylor was noticeably different and was even seen crying during some songs. I’m not entirely 100% certain, but i think after this show in Vegas she flew to London during the week. When she returned, she removed Invisible String. Whatever happened happened. I still think they were together, maybe with problems, but together until now and then something changed, something happened to get her on a plane to fly to London in the middle of a tour.

I was pleasantly surprised how her album was just as strong, if not stronger, than Miley's on streaming when Miley obviously had a massive hit with Flowers helping it along.

2023-09-12 00:07:54 +0000 UTCIt took me a while to fathom that Marcus Mumford is British, and that his studio is at his home in the British countryside. She had said that she traveled through fields of lovely sheep for hours to get there, and that he "saved" the recording of Evermore by letting her use his studio, but she never really got into the details of why. Long Pond Studio is in NY, so we know she was in the US when that was filmed and we know she wrote at least TTDS there, so they filmed LPSS before Evermore was recorded. Obviously, everyone had to stay put during quarantine, there was no jetting back and forth regularly between the US and the UK. I have a feeling she and Joe probably spent the first 6 months or so of quarantine in the US, and then went back to the UK, whether for visa-related reasons or simply so he could have his turn being closer to his family. While there, she realized she had enough material to fill another album, but no recording facilities. She asked Aaron if he had any leads, and he set her up with Marcus. If any of those circumstances had been different, we may not have the albums we do in their current state. I also love the fact that she used his studio and got him to sing on her album a decade after Jake missed her 21st birthday for a Mumford and Sons concert (so I've heard) because their indie records were apparently much cooler than hers. Such a full-circle karma moment!

Fun literature fact, there is a famous short story called “the most dangerous game” that is essentially about a hunter becoming the hunted and getting a taste of his own medicine. I am pretty sure literature queen Taylor is eluding to it with the line “dancing is a dangerous game” because the two people in the song are used to being the “hunters” if you will - but then they use their tricks on each other and end up falling for them… “takes one to know one”. 💕 But really how does Taylor have the time of day to be this brilliant??

(Except for N1 in Glendale too, intentional in a different way but not trying to pair them). On cowboy like me, when Taylor stops after he says "Doooown", she says something like "That is now the official way to sing it", I remember from the livestream. But I have to say, having just rewatched your Midnights refathoming, that I think this is another song that prefaced some trouble in the relationship of her and Joe. So I used to think they worked out, and now I don't anymore. Forever was the sweetest con, but it was a con, this time anyway.

I completely agree about SOTB (more Lana version) that it would of been perfect with the “it’s coming down” ending — however, I feel like she did that intentionally to make sure fans would still wanna stream the OG version. Like if the more Lana version was perfect, I’d probably only stream that version moving forward but Taylor is a mastermind and knows the OG ending is SUPERIOR so she makes it specific to the OG version so we keep streaming both - truly genius.

If she could please bring Marcus out again for one of the nights I'm going to in London that would make my entire life. The yellow dress/orange 1989 outfit I believe debuted Week 4 in Tampa on the first night which was the 13th and we were all clowning for the Speak Now announcement and she sung Speak Now as the first surprise song. That’s when she’d had the 2 week break and the break up had just been announced too. The green folklore dress was debuted that night as well and then I don’t think we saw it again for a whole month! I feel like remember a lot of little things going wrong that show as well, maybe some of that was from nerves from the recent news breaking.

I'm wondering if she just is so much more adapted to singing with all the screaming and the crowd? So I don't think she expected what they have turned into on this tour. As she realized people were watching, keeping track, and what she performed was becoming a viral event within the concert, she started performing songs with a bit more calculation. They have almost become a platform within her platform. The place where she announces new things, and when she just wants to let the music speak, says nothing at all. And I do think she has sent many a message to Joe, us, and probably Matty at some point, through her song choices. She does love secret coded messages after all.

I haven't watched these in a long time, but I remember being completely fucked up over White Horse. It was sooo good! White Horse is one of my favorite songs on Fearless. Cowboy Like Me, was so funny! That's one that I always have to sing along to, its the perfect song in that way!

I have ALWAYS thought Cowboy Like Me was a gay love story!! I guess since she calls herself a "cowboy" I never considered that she could be singing from her own perspective or a female perspective. It was always a male in my eyes. The imagery I get is of the two men (both kinda tough guys) from The Last of Us who fall in love. I didn't know Ivy was thought to possibly be a gay love story as well... but then I listened to your breakdown and thought... what if these are 2 gay love stories back to back on the album? I could be totes wrong about Cowboy Like Me but I don't think she ever specifies the narrator's gender aside from saying "cowboy" so IDKKKK AHHH

It has been my favorite album since I heard it, but it was not until this year that 'cowboy like me' became a favorite. It is interesting that she paired it with 'White Horse'-- maybe it's not supposed to have a happy ending? 🤔 😘

That performance was so fun and changed how I sing cowboy like me in car.🤣 Also I love how they turned it into a sort of duet so it's like you get the guys perspective of the song too in this performance.

I went to a Mumford & Sons Gentlemen of the Road stopover (they basically did their own 2 day festival) in the mountains of Colorado and that (along with Eras) was the most offensive live music experience I've ever had. ALSO, cowboy like me is is in my top 3 on evermore (sometimes #1 depending on the day), and it's in my top 10 of all TS songs. I'm so sad I wasn't in the audience, but the mere fact that this happened and I can watch a recording of it whenever I want is TOO MUCH.

But I wanna say that as the tour has progressed, I don’t think the waves are there anymore below the piano and it hasn’t been for quite some time 🤔 im interested to fathom along in these videos perhaps when the ripples under the piano go away..

Which I think...isn't that when she switched from invisible string to the 1 and started promising to be tricksy? I think so. And then the following weekend we got the breakup news. What a time that was. But these are fun cause I never really could focus on the performances when they are actually happening cause of the chaos going on.
