A bit of a positive spin on her potentially relating to Cold As You in regards to Joe: you touched on "you wouldn't have told nobody if I died for you" vs "I'd die for you in secret," but I'm also thinking about "I've never been anywhere cold as you" vs "I'm a fire and I'll keep your brittle heart warm when your cascade ocean wave blues come." The original context of Cold As You is regarding a breakup in a negative light, where she's the one who's been hurt, but we know the context and relatability of her songs have shifted for her over time, and perhaps the lyrical parallels here make that "cold" into a positive thing. I've never been anywhere cold as you, and I loved being there.
