Previously, I've been on the fence about including multiple dragons because of performance considerations. I've made further investigations into this now and I'm now pretty sure I can get away with one or several additional dragons when the new dragon model is done because of some performance optimizations that will be done.
The first use for an additional dragon will be as a hostile dragon rider. I've been thinking more about the lore of the game and what challenges the player will face, and have decided that there will be other Dragontwins that the player will either ally with or fight against. Additional dragons beyond that might be something the player can bring into battle, or additional Dragontwins on the battlefield.
Music
Jakob, the new composer, made a very detailed proposal for his thoughts on the music of Dragontwin that aligned very well with my own. It attempts to capture the ancient, proud and majestic nature of dragons while also making room for the more emotional aspect of an unbreakable soul bond between the dragon and the rider. The musical palette features instruments that reflect this, making use of both thundering percussion and large orchestras for the epic scenes and more lush underscores for exploration and ambience, intertwined with medieval folk instruments to really nail the medieval fantasy vibe.
