I was thinking while watching this "oh my God, this is Taylor Swift, the ultimate sincere awkward anti-cool girl, suddenly becoming incredibly cool". Because this song is just cool! It is like Naomi said above, it is giving Sheryl Crow vibes at the peak of her coolness. If you listen superficially without really grasping the lyrics, it is easy to imagine this as a top radio hit you scream along to as you drive along in the summer with the windows rolled down. Some movie is definitely going to want this for a soundtrack! It feels to me like it is easy to miss the lyrics because the music is so overwhelming, but of course they are just as great, and I love the discussion where you are trying to figure it out (not to mention the iconic moment when you looked to see who worked on it--that is a top tier Chats and Reacts bit). I completely agree with you that this is about Joe. And the bridge! It is going to take a while for me to fully get that. I really really hope this song gets some serious attention and does not become a forgotten masterpiece.
