Early Access Link - Gracie Abrams album reaction 💚

Comments

can you guys do mess it up by her ugh it’s so good my fav

Audrey Schroeder

the multiple mentions of plastic hearts has me desperately craving a plastic hearts breakdown from you two ❤️‍🔥

Cali

Oh yes, absolutely fantastic. The first time I heard Firearm my jaw dropped!

November Flush (Sam)

Agreed, but have you HEARD ceilings or firearm!?! ❤️‍🔥

Ryan Brown

Just to lyk gracie just released a BOP single called difficult today and I just know you all would love it! 💚💚

Ryan Brown

I love this 💕 love watching you breakdown and listen to music for the first times you guys are the best. You should SO SO do the 1975 album at some point - it’s out next week. Jack has produced half of it I think 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Zoe Knox

Loved hearing the love for Broods!! Would love if you checked out MUNA sometime :)

Alison

just fathomed that jack also co wrote and produced the song “heaven”

Josie Bicknelle

yess been waiting for this! also gracie just announced shes dropping a new song with aaron on friday oct 7!!!! a reaction vid would be amazing!!

Lauren R

i am pretty sure taylor sent maggie a cardigan back when folklore came out??

kayla ramoutar

also he is part of the JAU (jack antonoff universe) because jack produced one song called strawberries and cigarettes

Josie Bicknelle

if you love broods PLEASE listen to the album ‘blue neighbourhood’ by troye sivan - they’re featured on the song ‘EASE’ and it’s such an offensive album as a whole, it was his debut album and Taylor fell in love with it so much that she literally posted it on her Instagram feed and invited him on the Rep tour as a special guest 🥺

Josie Bicknelle

Loved this! I enjoyed the album when it came out but I haven't listened recently, shall be doing so again. Love Rockland and The Bottom especially. Adding another Lizzy McAlpine Five Seconds Flat comment - honestly, it is my album of the year so far (here's looking to you Midnights......). Lizzy's voice is gorgeous, and her song writing is fantastic. She is so underrated and deserves to be discovered. I absolutely love her. Erase Me, Hate to Be Lame, RECKLESS DRIVING, What A Shame, An Ego Thing, urgh it's all brilliant. She also wrote a short film to go with the album which is on YouTube. It's so good. I think you ladies would really like Lizzy.

November Flush (Sam)

oh my GOSH yes !! and CEILINGS and all my ghosts and ... the whole album

Amy Andrews

LOVED this breakdown so much. So desperate to see you guys react to Lizzy McAlpine's album five seconds flat, it's just the most incredible song writing and story telling and Lizzys voice is .... superior unfathomable UGH i love it and I think you guys will as well!! <33

Amy Andrews

She also has a cover of Tim McGraw on Spotify!!

Nina Conte

The Bottom immediately made me think of Renegade from the other person's perspective. There are some parallels in the lyrics too: 'You opened up the door' / 'I tapped on your window' ' You let me in when you should have had your guard up' / 'There was nowhere for me to stay but I stayed anyway'.

Cecilia Sparke

THISSS

Madi Rose

you are saying the MOST superior things nina !! Love love love this, I couldn't agree more..

farah abed

I SECOND THIS! such a superior album...

farah abed

So I have not responded to this because my reaction to Gracie is complicated. I have a hard time with the breathy voice and the generally very quiet and depressing nature of her songs. She seems to appeal really strongly to younger women; I've watched some YouTubes of her in concert and it looks like the entire audience is female. But she has a really great relationship with them; she just seems totally normal with them, not like a performer but just a friend who happens to be performing. Did you see the entire Maine trilogy (Rockland, Camden, Augusta) is all produced by Aaron? I actually think, like Lover, these songs might have more lasting appeal than the Joel Little ones; they are just harder to get into at first. Also note the Joel Little songs are co-written by Sarah Aarons, who is a professional songwriter. The bottom line is that I am cheering for Gracie, but her songs have not pulled me in yet.

MarkH

please react to lizzie mcalpine!! five seconds flat is an amazing album and i think y’all would love it

Sydney

Love this reaction! You guys should check out Holly Humberstone!! She’s like a british Olivia Rodrigo but a little rockier I think you guys would love her.

Frida Wagner

in regards to changing hairstyles...I had hair down to my waist, then left a toxic work environment I was in for 9 years. I was in a slump/depressive state so shaved my hair to release that toxicity. I felt alive again! My hairstylist compared leaving my job to leaving a relationship which I thought was an interesting comparison.

Jaimie C

Not me being from Maine, when you guys said Rockland, and Camden are those places? I was like Maine those are two places in Maine. Then Bonny saying Augusta I was umm that's Maine's Capital!! I'm so glad Maine is finally being noticed people forget about our tiny state at the top!!

Ash

LOVE the new backdrop! Gotta thank all the folks who asked for this. I hadnt heard of Gracie before and she def got songs I can relate too. Loved your perspectives as always! (Also, fab editing Bonny!) Just rewatched the Amy Winehouse documentary "Amy", and if there could be an album that captures Amy's short life Gracie's would be it. Even before the fame monster took hold she was already grappling with an ED, then the anxiety, depression, alcohol/drugs, wanting a safe escape, push/pull relationship with her guy/fans/family/media/record label - and coincidentally Camden (UK) was where she was at her lowest point in depression. Gracie's songs just really made think of Amy. 😢

Jaimie C

unrelated to the album but gracie has this song called mean it and the intro sounds exactly like the 1! love you guys x

cat

Watching now and I love it 🖤 also Olivia has talked about how she was listening to Minor by Gracie Abrams when she was inspired to write Drivers License 🥰

Joanna Ariola

PLS omg l hope they love doomsday, it might be one of my favorite songs of all time

Joanna Ariola

When I tell you I have done a total overhaul on my Spotify playlists thanks to this channel! Thanks for adding another new artist to my life gals 💃🏼

Erin

I would love to see you guys react to Maggie Rogers' album "Surrender." Not necessarily a part of the TSCU to my knowledge, but she did sing Better Man in one of those Song Association game videos that Elle does and credited both Little Big Town and TS. Lol, close enough, right?

Laura R

unless i'm mistaken, Blake and Gracie were together for a good few years- and the album explores the break down of their relationship i think :))

Eden Longland

also if you're into violins you should get into dodie. she's pretty far away from the swiftie world but would be cool to see your reaction to i think, and her career and development form the earliest EPs she put out to her newest album is also so interesting to discover!

charlotte

You should also listen to “block me out”, her newer song that Aaron helped with at LPS

Taylor

I love Gracie so much!!!! She’s said that Camden is one of her most personal songs. It is one of my favorites on the album.

Taylor

Pretty please. It's my album of 2022 so far!

November Flush (Sam)

Something I was thinking about when you were comparing the tone of this album to the tone of folklore is how during the time that Taylor wrote folklore (as far as we know), things in Taylor’s personal life were actually going pretty well. I think you guys discussed this in your folklore breakdown! It seems like she’s really found her people, and obviously she has a partner that is good and true and there for her. Also I would argue that her public image had never been better than it was at that time. But then she was dealing with the grief of losing her masters and the betrayal from Scott. So the overall tone of folklore really captures the contrast of being mentally in a good place and in general being quite happy, while simultaneously grieving a deep loss (weeping in a sunlit room). On the other hand, This Is What It Feels Like is written from the perspective of someone who is seriously depressed. And for those of us who have experienced depression and heartache at the same time, we know how it’s really really hard to imagine a world in which things could get better. It’s so cool to me how these two albums are both melancholy and emotional but in completely different ways!

Nina Conte

I haven’t really listened to Gracie much so this video felt like a reaction for me too! I love the way you guys really *listen* to music and find layers of nuance to even the songs that aren’t your favorites. It helps me appreciate music so much more!

Nina Conte

loved this reaction and love this album💞

charly

in addition: theres a demo of painkillers bridge on her insta that blake produced back in 2016 (i think) so its an old song.

Madi Rose

i love this take because i loveee folklore bit as a 22 yr old, gracie captures what im currently feeling do well

Madi Rose

i needed camden so much when i first heard it. gracie describes my thought process as a lost 22 year old

Madi Rose

AGREED!

Madi Rose

please punisher phoebe bridgers!!

Adelaide Lyall

i feel that this idea of not being able to picture one's own future seems to be a very common sentiment in a lot of newer songs, especially by young female artists... i've noticed it with noah cyrus' new songs (which I'd love for you to react to as well, her new album is so good and kind of country kind of sad, I think you'd like it!), and maya hawke, even billie with my future or getting older - this entire thought of having no future that is secure or even imaginable and therefore also struggling to live in the present...

charlotte

Phoebe Bridgers next...

Millicent Bannon

I'm glad you made this videos. I found a new artist for me. Super nice video!

Mar Colomer Ventura

great video! i loved the included lyrics-pics! super helpful for a non-native english speaker :)

Lynn Hruschka

yessss!!! so excited to watch this! I love gracie 🥰

Carla

OMG! You should do a breakdown of Plastics Hearts! I will love to see it.

Mar Colomer Ventura

I have a feeling they’d love “reckless driving”!

Megan

PLEASE DO PHOEBE BRIDGER’S PUNISHER NEXT ❤💙❤💙

Jess

oh and also blake and her have in a long term relationship (where they’ve been on an off) for years. i think it’s interesting that she’s being so honest about her feelings regarding their relationship knowing that he’s in the room helping her produce those songs.

sarah

yay!! i’ve been hoping you guys would react to gracie :) also wanted to mention that taylor commented on gracie’s tiktok around the release of red tv and said that she loved rockland!!

sarah

so excited for this!! been asking on discord forever hahah! gonna watch it asap but so glad to know you loved it! shes working on her debut album right now with aaron dessner at long pond so def keep your eye on her! 🥰 edit: i say debut album next because she has called 'this is what it feels like' a 'project/EP', even though its a length of an album.

Madi Rose

will you guys react to five seconds flat by lizzy mcapline!!!!

madison martin

OMG ALSO -- Gracie has released a number of singles, some produced by Joel and Aaron. 21, I miss you I'm sorry, block me out, & Stay are bangers

danny k

Rockland, Camden, and Augusta are kind of like her folklore trio in a way. Those are my favorite tracks on the album.

danny k

In an interview Olivia said she was listening to Gracie when she was driving around and came home and wrote Driver's License! She said she was very inspired by Gracie writing Sour.

Marissa Royer

An illegal song! I saw her when she opened for Olivia Rodrigo, I wasn’t even a fan back then but when I heard 21, I became one🥹

Wynne

Yesss also Mess it Up😭🫶🏻

Wynne

Yes! And Olivia has said that Gracie’s I miss you, I’m sorry inspired Driver’s License!

Jenna Aguirre

Yes! Minor is sooo good also Block Me Out

Jenna Aguirre

Ashe's "Ashlyn" album should be the next reaction video!

Jill

Not ready for their reaction if they think Gracie is very depressive💀

Jennifer

Oh I also wanted to add that Sour was inspired by Gracie’s first EP “Minor” which is why Olivia had Gracie open for her on tour ❤️

lucky

I totally get what you mean about the album being too depressive especially in comparison to folklore but I also think taylor has that insight with age where she can add elements of hope in even her most sad songs because she has more experience and perception whereas gracie is writing from the perspective of a 21 year old and not being able to see yourself on the other side because you’re so deeply engulfed in the sadness you can’t even imagine it getting better hence her saying “I cant picture anything past 25”

lucky

GUYSS that Blake producer guy is the EX she's writing about 🤯

Jennifer

Camden actually means a lot to majority of Gracie’s fans and it’s always one that’s closest to our hearts

Ethan Nguyen

REACT TO PUNISHER BY PHOEBE BRIDGERS!!!

Ethan Nguyen

loved seeing this! would LOVE to see you girls react to her ep minor, it has some fucked up songs and i think youd be unwell. the latter half of this album is kinda not my fav but i love almost every song on minor!

Tyler Doiron

Was so excited to watch this one! So fun, thank you! Based off the songs you liked best I think you would really like her Minor EP. Would love a reaction down the track if you guys are still alive after midnights is released haha.

Gabbi

I have been waiting for this reaction for sooo long!! Thanks!! Her new album was recorded at Long Pond and will be announced any time now (this is labeled as an ep)! Also, funny that you mentioned Olivia, actually, Olivia has said that she was inspired by Gracie´s first EP, Minor. Gracie opened for Olivia as well! So lots of connections there. You should definitely check the Minor EP and the single Block Me Out, produced by Aaron. Lastly, Blake (the producer) was her boyfriend for a long time, I don´t know whether they are still together though.

Maria

Okay both of you look incredible! Bonny’s hair is giving right now! Love you both and loved the video! 🥺

Abbey Baldwin

Gracie opened for Olivia Rodrigo for part of her SOUR tour

Olivia Brinkerhoff

I’m a huge fan of gracie and went through a phase where I only listened to this album for a long time so naturally I immediately came here to watch this once I saw bonny’s story because I know you guys appreciate lyrics as much as I do

lucky

Ahhh I’ve been waiting for this! This is actually labeled an ep, she’s currently working on her debut album. You should definitely listen to minor - 21 is such a bop! I did NOT fathom who produced this album. I thought she and Aaron only worked together for Rockland and didn’t even realize Joel was on this album!!

Shannon

OHMYGOSH!! I listen to that album all the time and I never knew feels like was about a friendship!!! That makes so much since and makes me love it even more! Rockland and Camden fuck me up every single time! SO offensive!!

Sam Obrien

YASSSSS to the new set-up!!! I love the new background!

Jessica

unrelated but i'd love a plastic hearts breakdown!

Greg

omg yes minor is my favorite!!! 21 is superior

jana

jana

Omg hearing Em mention Evergreen by Broods!! Would love a Broods vid

Jayde

This album is SUPERIOR. Can’t wait to watch and see you fathom Gracie’s incredible mind for storytelling and melodies! Hoping for a Minor EP reaction too, a girl can only hope👀🫶🏻

Jenna Aguirre

omg so excited !!!! gracie is iconic

Mia Clarke
