2022-05-18 17:12:55 +0000 UTCTaylor posted fondly about Olivia for years (from her Cruel Summer cover to her TikTok with Conan Gray) and wrote her a 10 page handwritten letter. At some point in 2021, that stopped and Taylor’s been radio silent ever since. Olivia also stopped mentioning Taylor, perhaps because she didn’t like the comparisons and didn’t want to be considered a copycat, but she literally interpolated New Year’s Day on Sour so I’m not sure distancing herself from Taylor was Olivia’s biggest priority and congratulating someone after the fact is harmless. More likely, what Emily / Bonny hinted at in this video is correct, which is some sort of split. Perhaps jealousy, perhaps the Kim K promo package, perhaps the plagiarism accusations, perhaps something else, but the bottom line in my opinion is that Taylor should be the bigger person as Olivia’s just a teenager and will of course make mistakes, plus she was considering a Taylor-related tattoo last year so of course she would never intentionally try to hurt Taylor’s feelings. Again, I like Taylor 100x more than Olivia and you’re right we’re all speculating here so could be nothing, I just hope maturity prevails and the bridge of Nothing New isn’t materializing.

In IKYWT as you mentionned but also in Style ("I heard that you've been out and about with some other girl, some other girl"). Maybe he hurt her, she took some distance from him and then this love came back to her, you know ;)

Speaking personally, for all I know Olivia and Taylor are texting all the time--or they could be completely out of contact. How would we know either way? And if they are out of contact, I would not characterize that as Taylor cutting off Olivia completely. They don't really know each other all that well so far as we know. That is, as far as I know there isn't any data here to support the idea of bad blood between them. Maybe you know more than I do though.

2022-03-16 23:00:36 +0000 UTCTo your question about Olivia Rodrigo, I think the breaking point was when Kim Kardashian posted an insta story showing a hand-written note from Olivia saying that she loved Kim, which likely felt like betrayal to Taylor. That said, while I like Taylor and her music 100x more than Olivia, I actually think Taylor should take some of the responsibility / blame here. Olivia’s a teenager and Taylor’s a 32 year old woman. You shouldn’t hold a teenager who’s completely new to the industry and bound to make mistakes to the same standards as a fully grown adult who’s a veteran in the music industry (she IS the music industry imo). Taylor should be the bigger person, remember her Bad Blood days are in the past, and lend a helping hand to one of her biggest fans rather than taking it so personally and cutting Olivia off completely.

Thought people in this comment section would be interested in this fun fact hahah. It's interesting because while I see your point about her not needing to go home and cry anymore because she was never driven out the way she expected (because of her fans <3) I think there's something to be said for the way that she still fears this, and how it must hurt to look back on her journey? In Miss Americana she spoke about working as hard as possible while her success was tolerated, since female artists are discarded around the age of 35. She references women continuously reinventing and finding new facets of themselves in her artist of the decade speech. And even more recently in the longpond sessions she references her need to keep proving herself, regarding mirrorball. ALL THIS TO SAY I can imagine her finding it painful to even be thanked by someone like Olivia. To see a naive ingenue who didn't have to suffer because Taylor took the brunt of the blows to clear the path. And I can imagine Taylor, at her most pessimistic, crying herself to sleep like… why did she have to figure out the map, and still continue to work so hard to be tolerated (until discarded)? It normalises that it’s OK to think that a lot of *grown women* might cry themselves to sleep, even if it’s not cute or youthful. Even if time moves forwards in positive ways, it’s ok to recognise it’s all exhausting. Wow. Embarrassing melancholic 3am ramble here… sorry. If you made it through thanks for coming to my ted talk. It's one of those songs that I truly find emotionally difficult to listen to. Listening for the first time was one of those moments where I couldn't actually understand how Taylor conceptualised those lyrics and put those feelings into song.

Just a weird thought that I instantly thought of when you two were talking about that song.

Like the snow represents the moment she knew kind of like the relationship turned cold and there was not only a season change in terms of the weather but also a change of seasons in her life and their relationship.

Especially since at the time she wrote it certain people might still consider her a girl. Similar to how she specified “the girl in the dress” in Dear John. And maybe kind of a way of saying “you may be a ‘man’, but that doesn’t make you a good man” given that he seems to have lorded his age over her a lot.

2022-02-26 22:55:35 +0000 UTCNo in better man its just an offensive melody change, because she is singing the lyrics of the second verse with a different melody than in the first one. If it was a key change the music would change as well. Its a bit hard to explain but every song is in a certain key (for example Love Story starts in D Major and then in the last chorus it changes into E Major (thats why its called a „key change“) whereas with Willow the whole song is in G Major. In the last chorus she just changes the melody and goes deeper (same with untouchable). I hope that was a somewhat understandable explanation :)

This is some kind of insider Taylor Swift account; she has claimed to be "just a fan" but the videos she posts are clearly made by Taylor's people. Sometimes you can hear the sound guys talking underneath. She just posted "I Know Places" from the 1989 tour, where you can hear the sound people counting "1,2,3, 4". And she has been posting a lot of 1989 stuff the past few weeks....I hope it is a secret sign from Taylor, but I have no idea.

So in Mr. Perfectly Fine, Love Story or Betty there is an actual key change in the last chorus (the whole sing moves up a whole step) which doesn’t mean that the melody changes is just means that the whole song gets higher or lower which is used to elevate the last chorus and make it even more epic. What you guys usually call a „key change“ is really just a melody change (which is absolutely superior of course but its a completely different thing) I‘m sorry I know no one likes a „know it all“. I love you guys!!!

I was mind blow over the fact that she’s saying she’s never going to call him again, not call him babe. Though it may be a double meaning (we all know she loves a double meaning in a song.) I think saying you call but I won’t hear it is kind of saying maybe that’s what he is maybe going to think. That she just didn’t hear her phone ring, but maybe that she actually breaks down seeing he’s trying to call. Especially since in I Almost Do she says “I bet, you think I either moved on or hate you, cause each time you reach out there is no reply.” 3. On the other hand, it is certainly easy to believe Jake or Harry could have cheated, so I don't know.

It is like nothing else she has ever done, and it basically slaps you in the face with how great Taylor is. It is (sort of) possible to miss the greatness when you hear her hits on the radio--I admit I did for years. I liked the songs but I did not see the next-level genius. With Nothing New, you can't miss it.

I just had to end it with someone I love and can’t be with due to alcoholism. I turn my ringer off and don’t hear his calls, but sometimes I break down every time I see that he called. Anyway….you two just make my day…every time!!!❤️
