Wait so I have a concern about the “reputation” vault tracks??? I feel like I remember reading in an interview around that time that she didn’t include any bonus tracks because she just wanted us to hear all of the songs. Better Man is so universally amazing my dad (who has never been on board with my all women pop artists sensibilities) was walking through his kitchen (was there for the holidays) a month after Red TV came out (so of course I was blaring nonstop every I went) and stopped and asked "who is this? what song is this?" "I hold onto this pride because these days it's all I have And I gave to you my best and we both know you can't say that" - heart in two pieces So excited for the deep dive on them all, the devastators and the bops both - I literally just break out and dance when the Very First Night comes on shuffle. And her Babe is...an unmitigated bop is the only way I can appropriately term it.

Texan here so it was 3am when this went live. It is doable with enough warning but an hour earlier would be better. 🥰 Couple of comments about stuff. First about The Lucky One, you mentioned someone saying they thought it was about Joni Mitchell. I don't think it is as she never disappeared. I think it more likely to be about Laura Nyro. An unbelievable songwriter and musician from the 60s. Wrote some of the biggest hits of the late 60s and early 70s and was mesmerizing as a performer. She hated touring and celebrity and did in fact disappear to a farm. Could be a mix of both Laura and Joni as well. You should look up the album "Eli and the 13th Confession".

Also wanted to say about the Kanye situation: I'm torn on how I feel about it. My petty side is kind of enjoying him spiraling on social media as if the universe is serving up some karmic justice, especially since its karma being served to him and Kim. At the same time, though, this is obviously a mental health issue and I'm sad that he no longer has anyone in his life to insist he stay on his medication or get help or even just talk him down off his ranting ledge. Also, there are children involved...and the fact that he can't see how harming their mother's reputation hurts them as well is sad to watch. I physically cringed reading some of the things he said. I don't know much about his life, nor do I care to, but I do know that he needs help...I hope he finds it.

The thing that strikes me about Jack Antonoff is that he is fundamentally a music nerd, and I think that is why he can work with someone like Taylor so well. When I watch behind the scenes stuff with Taylor, I feel like a lot of the people (or maybe I mean men) working with her just kind of stare at her in awe. Like the director in the behind the scenes for the "Me!" video when she is self-critiquing how she is looking and walking, and he just looks at her. He is no help at all, really. Whereas Jack is just so into the music that he doesn't care that he is working with FUCKING TAYLOR SWIFT and he just focuses on the music.

The thing about Taylor interviews is that, while she always tells the truth, I feel, she never tells the whole truth. She doesn't talk to people the way she would if they actually really knew all her songs. It feels to me like she misdirects a bit. Zane is a far better interviewer than most, But still an interview with you guys and Taylor would be much better and deeper!
