LiveKit Cluster Updates

I apologize to folks who have experienced some disruption with the Tavern LiveKit cluster over the last couple of weeks. The host I was using started becoming unreliable with network traffic. Rather than continue to fight with issues there, I decided to rebuild the cluster on a different provider and also take some steps to make it easier to scale and allow for the servers to run on multiple providers in the future if needed.

The new cluster is now online. However, I also had attempted to update the LiveKit version in the process and found that there is a pretty nasty bug that crashes the server and that has plagued the servers over the last couple of days. I just finished downgrading the servers to the version that was running reliably on the old host. Hopefully this should bring the cluster back to a stable state!

If anyone continues to experience issues, we do still have a couple of backup servers up and running. We'll keep these available for a bit longer until I'm sure the cluster is good again. To use the backup, update your LiveKit server address to one of these options based on your region:

North America: dal.livekit.tavern.at

Europe: fra2.livekit.tavern.at

Please only use the backup servers if you are experiencing issues with the main cluster. Do please report if you have issues either here or on Discord so we can help troubleshoot.

Thanks again for the support!

Great! Glad that worked out.

That was the problem - I was using the backup server for some reason. I just put in the livekit.tavern.at and now it's working. I'll be sure to post any further problems on Discord. Thanks.

Are you trying to use the backup server addresses? Those have been decomissioned. The address should just be `livekit.tavern.at`. Note that there should be no "http://" or "https://" in front of the address.

The message I'm getting is "Error connecting to LiveKit Server, sever was not reachable".

Kraylic

West Coast, USA. I checked the server address, API & Key, and all are entered correctly.

I just ran through and connected to each of the instances manually and they all seem to be working for me.

Also, if you link your patreon account with discord, you'll get joined to the At the Tavern server which has a livekit support channel.

This is the only report I've seen and none of my monitoring alerts have fired. What part of the world are you connecting from?

Brint E. Kriebel

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the server?

Kraylic

Thank you! I was having trouble finding the post for some reason.

The most recent keys are the February ones. I didn't end up refreshing them for March. I'll be posting a new set for April at the end of next week, but the February keys will stay valid through that month as well. https://www.patreon.com/posts/february-2022-61607117?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copy_to_clipboard&utm_campaign=postshare

I'm having trouble finding the keys. I found them previously, but I feel like an idiot now.

Great to hear!

Everything went fine! Thank you, and congratulations on the good news (newborn!). Some of the players struggle to get their audio working, but that is a problem between their hardware settings and Foundry.

My games are on hiatus at the moment as my partner and I have a newborn, so I can't say from personal experience other than the testing that I did when making this update. However, I've had no alerts trigger on my monitoring and no user reported issues since making this change. I believe everything should be good, but we'll be keeping the backup servers online through the weekend just in case. Enjoy your game!

Hello! I have a big game night tomorrow, and wanted to verify that everything will be ok for LiveKit A/V. I am hoping not to attempt any backup server connections. There are so many things to prep, I am really in need of hearing some good news. Thank you very much!
