Whatever Day Today Is Update: M'bartender edition.

So I was about to write a poll. The poll was going to say, "Hey... I'm thinking about writing branching paths for the story beyond my current design. People have asked for an IO only route among other things. But it would also be a ballache... and it might take away from the story and..." then I stopped. I'm not going to do a poll if the poll is basically "please vote for the one I want".

So instead it's a clarification post. Generally this game will have a major story related to the corruption of Catherine and the rooftop in general. The biggest "branch" will come toward the very end of the game where Catherine takes charge or IO does. All the sewer stuff and the scanning and everything is all buildup toward giving the player the option to have Catherine take over. All other endings (and I have about a dozen planned) will be branches similar to the Alexa training game over where you get an extended dialogue, a scene, and a game over. That's where the game is going.

If I do too many branches then the dialogue and story will suffer as I have to write scenes more and more generic and avoid referencing other scenes. The world would, in my opinion, become more stale.

I couldn't agree more, too many lewd games get bogged down with over ambitious ideas. I think the level of player agency in the game right now is good

i do hope there is a path where IO can enhance the girls body's to increase customer satisfaction But having said that you should make the game like you want and later when the core is done mayby do some branches

I'm still for the IO only route, but I'm also for finishing the game first. You could always go back and add or change some things once you have it all worked out.

i think that way its better, having too many options and routes makes the games sometimes a pain, since is very easy to get lost and feels more like a challenge, ending thing is good, and i like the idea of being two routes where one of them takes control

I vote no on more branching stories. I am much more interested in the story YOU want to tell than the story the player wants to tell.

Thank you. A lot of fans don't understand that branching story =/= player agency (the main appeal in corruption type games). I find the appeal in these types of stories to be the emergent story from gameplay elements (like choosing to approach the table in the minigames) that leads up to concise ending (usually with some variation based on stats). If this was a VN game it would make more sense due to that style of game; but this is a bonefied H-game at this point where the erotic elements are already incorporated into the gameplay.
