Somewhere on Val

Blake slowly opens his eyes after finishing his ascension to Class C. Then he, without hesitation, opens his sister’s livestream. At which point he finds her playing a game of volleyball. Albeit while killing a member of her enemy team with the ball slamming into him.

A smile spreads across his face as he sees the number of potential skills she has increase. His sister no doubt taking another Skill Tree.

Blake’s always been worried about Ashley throughout his entire life, and now that he’s seeing her doing well, he feels a lot more relieved.

He can’t help it.

And it’s not just her power that’s doing well, but her status as well. Since no one will ever think to say anything bad about her ever again.

Not with Chaos watching over her.

He’s seen the things Chaos is willing to do to protect her. And he goes so far that even Blake feels slightly fearful of the Primordial.

Entire planets turned into apocalyptic zones that aren’t safe for the public to enter. With entire universal bans keeping anyone other than hunters out of the area.

Nations turned to rubble simply because their leader decided they wanted to target Ashley.

And the internet and online forums moderated to the nine hells with some of the harshest trolls and haters mysteriously disappearing.

Chaos’ overprotectiveness is terrifying to Blake. But at the same time, he’s happy that she has a parent-figure who cares so deeply about her. Even if the Primordial himself makes even Blake walk on eggshells.

“We, too, are surprised by his doting,” Etheria says, her voice echoing in his head. “Chaos has never shown this side before.”

Blake purses his lips at the Primordial’s words.

Etheria has talked about Chaos quite a lot over the time he’s known her. With most of it being complaints about him. So most of the things he knows about their past aren’t good things.

Like the time Chaos turned one of her Successors into a chicken by accident just by showing up at her Tower in a surprise visit. With the Successor in question being exposed to his main body’s chaos energy.

Or the time Chaos turned her favorite artifact creation into a walking table. Again through his chaos energy.

And the time Chaos transformed the spell circle she had worked on for years into a dog-chicken hybrid. Somehow bringing it to life without giving it intelligence.

Blake frowns as he thinks about the many different things she’s complained about. Then he compares it to some of the things Ashley’s shared with him.

And their different experiences are like night and day.

“If he can hold back his energy so well around that sister of yours, then why didn’t he do it around my projects?” Etheria complains. “Still, he did take it easier on me with his pranks than Justicar.”

Blake finds a faint smile stretching across his face at the thought of the many different pranks he’s heard Chaos has pulled on Justicar, the Primordial of Order.

From what she told him, the entire initialization of their planet was nothing more than a prank on Justicar. With Chaos going around initializing one planet after another to make more work for Justicar.

Only for him to find Ashley and stop.

And before that initialization binge, Chaos was known for transforming The Order’s top brass into animals for entire weeks for fun. Just to antagonize Justicar.

There was even a time when Chaos created an artificial monster wave to attack The Order’s main headquarters. Only to reveal at the very end that it was all an illusion. Clearing the illusion, making the monsters vanish, and revealing that all The Order’s forces who ‘died’ in the defense were just stuck in a waiting room watching instead of being dead.

That caused a major stir in the universe when it was revealed. Because the monster wave was causing significant waves across political society as well. Making some forces act in the belief that The Order’s power would decrease.

Only for everyone to find out the entire thing was fake just for Chaos’ entertainment.

Of course, there were also times when Chaos turned Justicar’s favorite things into animals or random objects that he hid. Or turned Justicar’s Successors into various things or teleported them to the other side of the universe.

Blake stares at the livestream of Ashley winning the second round of the Official System Event as he thinks about how much Chaos has mellowed out.

Or his attention has just been hyper focused and he hasn’t had the time to pull pranks…

He shakes his head before turning his attention towards the East. Where some problems are starting to appear on Val.

Specifically, a single Spire located halfway across the world.
