Ashley

This is kind of annoying.

The Class C Official System Events are more limited in scope and number than the previous Class events. With there being about a tenth of them total.

On top of that, there are a few new annoying features added in for Class C events.

For one, I have to spin a wheel, and a theme is selected at random for the events you can select. Unlike in Class D and E where I could select whatever theme I wanted out of the combat, sports, races, and casual themes.

It’s very annoying how things are getting more and more restrictive as I advance through the Classes. Even if I knew this was going to happen beforehand thanks to Chaos’ warning.

There are fewer and fewer events running at any one time the higher your Class, with fewer choices on what events you can participate in.

Apparently Class B events don’t even let anyone choose an event. It’s randomly selected for the Class B users.

I let out a sight at that thought before glaring at the result of the random theme selection wheel in front of me.

Because the wheel ended up landing on a theme that I’ve never actually done before in Official System Events.

The only events I’ve ever done have always been combat centered ones and races.

So this is the first time I’ve ever ended up competing in a sports themed event.

The bright side is that I can still select the event in question. So I search for one that allows for combat more than the other events.

And there are several events that allow a lot of combat in them. Including a volleyball game, a soccer game, wrestling, a couple alien games not known of on Val, and a football game.

All of the games allow combat and killing other competitors during the games in varying degrees. With the most common rule being for the ball games where the person with the ball at any specific time is the only one who is allowed to attack others. While the others can only defend themselves without attacking unless they get the ball.

Then there are the events like the wrestling one where it’s not really wrestling. It’s just a matter of knocking the opponent out of the ring or making them fall down to the ground.

I search through the events one after another until I finally decide on a simple volleyball game. Since that’s one of the few sports I have any memory playing back when I was a kid.

Unfortunately, almost all of the events are team events with extremely few if any solo events in the sports theme.

Of course, when I get into the lobby and the announcer begins going on and on about how this is the first sports event I’ve ever participated in and my first Class C event, I just find myself staring at the rules for the event floating in my face.

Elemental Volleyball

Description: A magical game of elemental volleyball, where competitors compete using elemental magic coating the ball.

Participant Count: 8 teams

Rules:

Rules: The competitors may only attack when they are hitting the ball. When not hitting the ball, competitors may defend themselves. All attacks, defends, and hits using the ball must be made using elemental magic. Skills beyond mana manipulation are prohibited.

Victory Condition: The first team to win the match is the victor for each match. Alternatively, the first team to forfeit the match is the loser for each match. The final victory will be decided in a three-round tournament. Revival is prohibited unless a revival ticket is used.

Rewards: Every user slain in the game grants the slayer 500 Skill Points. First place team receives an additional 2500 Skill Points per user in their team.

Participants List

It’s a very simple game to say the least. But when I look at the other users in the event, I can’t help but grin.

All because of the result I find when I identify them.

♢ Marcus Hensley – Level 701 – 1001 Potential Skills – X ♢

♢ Yusuf Rahman – Level 705 – 847 Potential Skills – X ♢

♢ Amara N’Doye – Level 674 – 804 Potential Skills – X ♢

♢ Unit 0-KAR1 – Level 621 – 921 Potential Skills – X ♢

♢ Zhr’lak Vorr – Level 600 – 982 Potential Skills – X ♢

♢ Kaalexh’Toruun – Level 700 – 1468 Potential Skills – X ♢

All of their levels are drastically higher than my own. Which is still sitting at level three hundred and seventy-five. And their potential skills are a lot higher in number on average than the average user I saw back in Class D.

Now I can finally test just how powerful I am compared to higher level users.

Of course, there are some lower level users in this event as well. Ones that are down in the five hundreds and even four hundreds range in level. But they aren’t quite as numerous.

Most of the users in this event are in the level six hundred range.

“Now, why don’t we get this party started and see how our beloved Chaos Princess competes against her Class C competitors?!” the MC exclaims with his eyes narrowed. Following which we’re all teleported down to a volleyball court in the middle of the stadium.

But unlike many of the combat events I’ve participated in, I can clearly see the bleachers from where we’re at.

There’s nothing in-between us and the bleachers.

“The team selection will be handled by the System and announced in just a few seconds, so please be patient everyone,” the MC continues, the spirit looking both excited and bored at the same time somehow.

Soon after his words, the System sends a notification telling me my team members’ names while also teleporting me into what looks like a practice area with just five other competitors. All of whom look interested in me.

There are a couple who don’t seem very pleased by me being on their team and clearly look down on me for my level, while there are others who look excited. But no one says anything one way or another. Bad or good about me.

No doubt because of my position and my power at my own level.

Because, even if a couple of them may look down on me right now, they should know that I’ll pass them in level someday. And my position in society is far higher than theirs as a Successor and pretty much being a Unique Being.

Then a notification appears in my vision telling me and the others that we have ten minutes to practice together as a team before the first match begins.

“Let’s all try an attack using the ball first before anything else,” one of my teammates says. The man named Yusuf Rahman who is one of the highest level users in the event.

Hmm. I watch as the other competitors each grab a ball one after another before I join them and grab one myself. Then I watch them each activating spells around their volleyballs before sending them flying across the practice court.

Of the five team members, one of them uses spatial magic, another uses fire magic, two of them use death magic, and the last one uses virtue magic. And all of their attacks are far stronger than any attacks I’ve ever seen aimed at me before. Which makes sense considering their levels.

I watch the results of their battles a little bit before turning my focus onto the ball in my hand.

Just how strong will my attack be in comparison…

This’ll be interesting.

I close my eyes for a second before activating several ice magic spells across the ball in my hands. The first being one to coat the ball in eternal snow, followed by one generating ice and snow all around the ball, one firing off shards of ice towards heat, one storing up a lot of ice energy to burst out upon impact, and one to make a blizzard around the ball to disrupt visibility.

Then I serve the ball across the court.

Let’s see how this goes.

Comments

It's fixed.

Should "The Class S Official System Events" be "The Class C Official System Events"?
