Wolf
Some time passes before I finally reach the last floor theme of this Centurion. The Progenitor’s own Floor Theme.
Floor six hundred and ninety-one.
And the floor itself is rather… um… something.
Just like the previous floor themes of this Centurion, the main floor theme is completely chaotic. But unlike the last floor themes, this one seems to be a rather large jump in levels from the last floors.
It’s such a large jump in levels that it actually challenges me.
A little.
Mostly it just serves as a nuisance and a time waster.
But the most annoying part about the floor is that it has traces of variant chaos energy spread through it. Clearly proving that Eris, the Progenitor of Chaos, is the next Progenitor clone. And everything said variant touches turns into random things.
Which means that, since the place has that energy flooding the entire floor, everything is constantly changing forms. And it’s disturbing to see.
The ground, parts of the air, the monsters, and even bits of energy. Everything is being changed at random.
To make matters worse, it’s not everything as a whole, but every individual chunk. So lots of things are being turned into lots of other things. Some of which are the same form and shape while others aren’t.
One monster in particular that originally had the form of a large cat now looks like an amalgamation of too many things to count.
Some sort of dog for half of its head and a cat for the other half, an elephant for one leg, dinosaur for another, its rear half is turned into that of a humanoid form with its rear legs being some sort of demon and some sort of elf. With chunks of the legs mixed with various other creatures.
And that’s not all as there’s bits of fur and scales and regular skin and all sorts of other things including tentacles and wormy skin all across its body. With lots of it not matching with whatever part it’s on.
On top of all that, the creature is still changing by the second.
And that’s just that one single living creature. Everything is doing the same thing.
Other living creatures, the terrain, and even the air.
It’s very disturbing to see the air turning into random chunks of metal, flesh, rocks, and other types of gasses at random. And it’s very unpleasant to breathe in here because of that.
Fortunately I don’t have to breathe. So I avoid doing that entirely while here.
That doesn’t change the fact that it smells terrible and is loud here. Because a lot of the things that stuff is turning into smell terrible. Especially when all of the smells are mixed together.
And others are incredibly loud on top of that. Since the things aren’t limited to stuff that mix well together.
There are lots of explosions, and some of the things are even being transformed into pure sound waves.
Thanks to that, I quickly turn the soundproofing on my headphones up. All to block out the loud noises.
Then I spread my own Domain outwards. Freezing everything it touches.
And, to my satisfaction, everything frozen by my Domain ends up locked in place. Unable to be affected by the weak variant chaos energy around me.
I’m sure the chaos variant energy would be able to affect my lunar ice if it was Eris’ own chaos energy directly from her and not some tiny scrap of it diluted through the floor. But this much of it won’t do shit to me.
So I spread my Domain all throughout the floor. Devouring all of the morphing monsters one by one and adding them to my own power.
All while devouring the chaos energy as well.
But there’s one major issue that I soon find while searching the floor for a mini boss.
The monsters are changing between ranks as they mutate. Making regular monsters turn into mini bosses and mini bosses turn into regular monsters.
But the vast majority of them don’t turn into mini bosses, and the ones that do turn into mini bosses barely stay mini bosses for more than a second.
On the other hand, the ones that were originally mini bosses were changed long ago by the time I find them. Turning them into regular monsters.
So I literally cannot find the way out of this floor.
What’s even more disturbing is that this is only the first floor of this floor theme. Which means the later floors will have more variant chaos energy in them, and there will be more mutating.
Just how long will it take me to find an exit?
And more importantly, how long will the exit stay an exit when they do appear?
Will the chaos energy turn the exit into something else? Or what?
I think it should be fine since my Domain will be covering wherever the exit appears. At least for this floor. But that might not be the case in later floors where the chaos energy is thicker.
If it’s thick enough to get through my Domain, that could become a massive problem.
I continue making my way through the floor while spreading my Domain out to devour absolutely everything. But after a while, a thought comes to mind and I begin turning some of the monsters on the floor. Just in case it works.
And it does work. Turning the monsters into lunar winter beasts makes them immune to the variant chaos energy.
This could work for the later floors. I could turn the mini boss into a lunar winter beast and then kill it when I’m prepared to enter the exit. In an area completely sealed by my Domain.
For now, though, I just need to find a mini boss that is currently a mini boss.
So I continue my hunt for a mini boss. Devouring everything I find along the way.
Until I finally manage to kill one and summon an exit. Which I pass through thanks to it being covered enough by my energy to be immune to the tiny amount of variant chaos energy here.
Leaving me entering the next floor for a repeat of the last one.
