Wolf
I tap my chin in thought as I stare at the item description that appeared the moment I opened the chest. Because it’s certainly an unusual item. And that’s saying something.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Item | Luck Drain | Tier 10
This item can only be used by the Progenitor of Lunar Ice and the Blue Moon.
When used, the Progenitor of Lunar Ice and the Blue Moon may drain the luck of whoever they wish. Adding it to their own luck in the process.
However, this item may only be used once every three months.
System Favor: This item is safe to use and was made by Fortuna, the Progenitor of Luck, herself. Furthermore, the item has a note from the Progenitor of Luck for the user:
Keep being amusing! And I’ve gotta say, I love your luck!
You have the most interesting luck I’ve seen in ages! So keep it up!
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This thing could come in handy. Quite a bit, in fact.
I could use it to drain a progenitor clone’s luck, making the battle easier for me and less likely for something to go wrong.
The item itself is in the form of one of those cartoonish yellow stars. Which makes it look rather odd.
But looks aside, I put the thing into my storage before stretching a little and heading towards the exit. Only to set up my portable system store there to rest.
Since I need a break after that battle.
Fighting Fortuna was more exhausting mentally than it was physically, but it was still exhausting.
Fortuna was absolutely messing around without being serious. And even fighting her that way was still hella difficult. Albeit not as difficult as fighting Phoenix was when she was going all out.
The Progenitor of Luck really did make everything in her battle based solely around luck.
She had powers to manipulate how much damage we both took during the battle based on random rolls of luck, and even the items I could use and the monsters that spawned mid-battle were all determined by luck.
At the end of the day, I won the battle because of the random bursts of good luck I occasionally get pushing me over the edge and barely letting me kill her clone.
I feel a chill run down my spine as I remember some of those moments of terrible luck though. Like when I ended up surrounded by thousands of monsters while my damage was set to almost the lowest it could possibly be.
Fortuna is terrifying in her own way.
No matter who someone is, if they’re unlucky, they’re likely to lose to her.
A fight that’s entirely reliant on luck.
And I’m sure she can easily flee even if the luck turns sour on her.
I let out a sigh at that thought before focusing on my connection to Sapphire, who is currently outside of the dungeon. No doubt causing some trouble on a planet right now.
At this point, Sapphire has the form of a late teenage girl in appearance, and she acts like it too. She’s practically in a rebellious faze in a way.
And she still ignores my complaints and comes running when I’m in danger. But that’s nothing new.
She also started dating at one point. Only for her to lose interest in each one rather quickly.
The only bright side is that I’m a very ‘out of sight, out of mind’ type of person. So as long as I don’t ever have to meet her boyfriend at any point in time, I’m fine.
I can pretend like nothing’s happening.
That thought gives me a faint smile. Because it irritates me thinking about that tiny little spider who used to sleep in my hood and jacket pockets dating someone.
On another note, I can’t help but wonder where she got her interest in dating at all from. Since I’ve never had any interest in that.
But when I asked at some point in the last year, all she said was that she was curious about it from something Diana said.
So I get the feeling she’s not really serious about any of her relationships.
I yawn while lying down on the couch. Just staring up at the ceiling.
The Progenitor War going on outside of the dungeon has slowed to a crawl over the past couple years as well. With a lot of the progenitors that were participating in the war decreasing their participation.
They’re still participating in the war, of course, but they aren’t giving it as much focus.
After all, they’re all managing their own universes. So they can’t give the Progenitor of Void’s war too much attention lest they end up neglecting their own territory and people.
The only two who are giving the war all of their attention are Titania, the Progenitor of Radiance, and Grim, the Progenitor of Void.
Even Fenrir is paying more attention to me than the war despite being a sort of judge for their war. One sitting on the sidelines to make sure they don’t go too far with anything they do.
There are other progenitors giving me more attention as well. Which Fenrir says is because they’re more interested in seeing the new progenitor than watching two old progenitors fight out their eternal squabble.
It certainly goes to show what they all think of this conflict.
I can’t help but chuckle at the thought.
At the very least, they aren’t really involving the citizens of Grim’s universe much anymore. Not after most of the people finished paying off their voided karma to Grim.
After that, and after seeing the war grow progressively harsher, most of the people who were fighting left and came back to their own homes and lives.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if Grim goes and starts causing problems again at some point. Especially if he starts to lose the war.
He’s proven time and time again that he isn’t afraid of breaking the rules to get what he wants, after all.
Anyway, I wonder who the next progenitor clone will be?
