Chapter 66

A Wasteland of Beauty

What surprises me the most about the place is that the monsters here aren’t attacking me at all. They’re just fluttering around peacefully.
So the floor is oddly peaceful.
At least, until I move a few meters away from where I originally appeared on the floor and accidentally step on a flower.
Then all the monsters on the floor immediately begin rushing at me. Ruining the peaceful atmosphere on the floor.
I guess they don’t like me stepping on flowers…
Also, the monsters aren’t the only thing that seems to dislike it. Since the plants all around the clearing begin shooting off lasers of fire energy at me as well.
Clearly proving that they’re also monsters.
And when I identify everything in this place?
I find that all these monsters are at least three thousand levels above me.
Which isn’t too surprising considering the Special Boss Floor.
That said, thanks to my fire immunity from the Supreme Fire Orb and my Domain, the monsters’ attacks don’t really affect me as much as they otherwise would. Even if they do prove difficult to deal with. Simply because of the sheer number of attacks.
After a brief hesitation, I spread my Domain throughout the area and begin freezing everything. Only to devour it all with my Domain after freezing it.
It’s a shame I have to destroy this beautiful scenery, but they’re all monsters filling the floor. They’re trying to attack me. And I need the EXP and the strength gained from devouring them.
So I’m not just going to let them go.
Anyway, I continue devouring everything in my surroundings. Turning the beautiful field into a frozen wasteland rather quickly.
But after the entire clearing and the trees around it are frozen solid and devoured, the ruby stars high in the sky suddenly begin to shine even brighter.
Then a thick laser beam made of wildfire variant fire energy fires straight down from the stars right at me.
And to my surprise, they actually burn right through me. Cutting off both an arm and a leg in the process while the others miss me.
Of course, I reform my arm and leg rather quickly through spreading my Domain back out in the form of an arm and a leg. But it still proves surprising that they actually broke through my Domain and cut through me.
I narrow my eyes at the stars as the laser beams gradually fizzle out. Losing their strength.
And when they do, the stars they shot out from lose some of their glow.
But that doesn’t last long as after about a few minutes, they gradually regain their glow again and then fire off more laser beams at me.
I try to block these laser beams, only to find them burning straight through my Domain again. Even with the extra layers and more condensed Domain I use to block it.
My eyes narrow before I reform the limbs they cut off again.
Just how powerful is this…
Wait a second…
I continue devouring the surrounding forest until the laser beams fire again. And this time I focus more on the beams. At which point I realize they’re made of very diluted Fire Domain power.
Energy made directly from Phoenix’s Domain.
That’s why it’s able to cut right through my own Domain.
So every time the laser beams cut through me, I gradually increase the amount of Domain I use to block it. Ever so slowly using more and more until I finally succeed in blocking the attack.
But since it’s so much energy to block it, I eventually decide not to block it and to instead just dodge all the attacks as much as I can. All while I continue devouring everything around me.
To my irritation though, no matter how much I devour, I never find an end to the forest and clearings scattered throughout it.
I just keep going, devouring more and more as I go while dodging the laser beams as much as I can.
But it just doesn’t end.
Days, then weeks. And even after an entire month, I still don’t find an end to it.
All while I consistently take an hour off once a day to recover my energy in the Safe Zone.
I purse my lips as the process just continues repeating over and over again.
Eventually I give up and open the Void Store.

When I open it, I find it already set to my previous search results. Which has me pursing my lips before beginning to look through the Void Store some more for things I can use on the Centurion Boss Floor itself.
Seeing as I never needed to use the Energy Wipe, and I can’t use it on this floor since it’s locked against use on Centurion Boss Floors.
I let out a sigh before beginning my search.
This might take a little while to finish.
There’s just too many things in the Void Store.

Eventually I narrow it down while occasionally dodging laser beams. Leaving me with several results, some of which are the same as before, while others are different.

I feel rather satisfied with these results. Although most of them aren’t things I should use quite yet.
Supercharge, Energy Reset, and System Blast are ones I should purchase while fighting against Phoenix’s clone. And Temporary Safe Zone and Centurion Floor Boss Energy Regen Block are things I should purchase when I’m at the end of my ropes fighting Phoenix and need a break to restore my energy.
If I use them, then I can pretty much put a pause on the battle and let myself restore my energy over that time.
That’ll be incredibly helpful.
As for the Summon Helper one? I probably won’t end up using it, but it doesn’t hurt keeping it in the search results to quickly find it.
It’s interesting how they’re priced though. Since the combination of Temporary Safe Zone and Centurion Floor Boss Energy Regen Block – which is a mouthful – pretty much have the same results as Energy Reset.
But for a far cheaper price.
A faint smile spreads across my face as I think of this Void Store. Since it’ll be an incredibly helpful tool for me when I fight against Phoenix.
That as well as my ability to call Loki and Beelzebub to assist me.
The only issue is that I don’t know how powerful Loki and Beelzebub’s clones will be.
For all I know, they could be far weaker than Phoenix’s clones.
Actually, they probably will be. Since something tells me that the clones will be the same clones as the ones I originally fought in their Centurion Floors.
Which means they’ll be thousands of levels behind Phoenix. Even if they have Domains they can use as well.
That said, regardless of their level, their help will be incredible.
Domains are Domains after all. And I doubt Phoenix’s clone will have an immunity to Loki’s illusions.
Anyway, I go ahead and use my Floor Points to purchase the Centurion Floor Map. Which immediately expands my minimap to show outside of this planet. Startling me in the process.
Wait, so this planet isn’t the only…
My thoughts trail off as my gaze turns towards the stars visible in the sky. Stars that have been firing off energy from Phoenix’s Domain at me.
Then my eyes narrow while glancing between the minimap and the stars.
Interesting.
The minimap now shows the Temple located in space near those very stars.
Very interesting.
It also means I’ve been pointlessly going around clearing this random planet for who knows how long now.
I bet Phoenix was having a laugh at that…
That thought makes me grit my teeth before I let out a sigh. Then I wait in my Safe Zone for an hour while resting, following which I fly off the planet in the direction of those stars. And while I’m flying, I find said stars blasting those laser beams at me over and over again.
With the frequency of their attacks growing faster and faster as I get closer to the stars.
But that’s not all. Because I also find those flaming birds becoming more numerous as well. Albeit no butterflies anymore.
And the birds in question also seem to be growing stronger and stronger the closer I get.
Days gradually begin to pass as I very slowly close the distance on the map.
A distance that is incredibly large judging by that very map. So very large that I end up taking numerous breaks along the way.
One break every day my Safe Zone’s cooldown ends. Allowing me to regenerate the energy it requires to deal with the birds. Not to mention the energy I lose whenever one of those laser beams hits me.
As I move through space towards the stars though, I can’t help but admire the beautiful planets I pass by. Every last one having a bright red color, whether it’s through flames or other types of terrain.
Flowers, canyons, volcanoes, forests, and so on.
And eventually, after making it nearly halfway to the stars, the stars themselves finally begin to grow bigger in my vision. Meanwhile the laser beams they fire at me grow thicker as well.
I grit my teeth when a laser beam cuts straight through my torso. Slicing me in half before I repair the damage with my Domain.
The laser beams are starting to get harder and harder to dodge in my humanoid form.
So with that in mind, I turn into nothing but my formless Domain. Spreading myself out while dissipating my physical body.
Then I continue moving in the direction of the stars again.

Wow if Phoenix's very diluted domain is doing that much damage to him she must be a couple of orders of magnitude more powerful than him. Can't see how he can win this one. Looking forward to finding out!
